I have the Sub Assault w/ Doopy pieces but I have to say, I really like yours much better, David!
-
Thanks, Jim. That's what I was thinking!

Been there, done that, still on the wait list for the T-shirt. I used the same boots, and for those attempting this, try to do a better job than I did on the wide section on the arches. I left obvious blade marks on mine since it was kinda hard to hit the exact angle and depth as the adjacent cut. I'm on hold while I consider the options to remove those lines.

Yeah, I have the kit to mod the sub assault game...and that's what it looks like.

How about a plastic slip nut?

Boomer? I was a gas turbine tech. 5/3 sea shore rotation.

It was ten for me, but in any case he's at 10 and should be able to find a vendor. As to the spirit comment I made above, I was referring to the 10 post rule. I suppose it's to keep out all but the truly interested. Thanks for your service...I did 10 years active duty Navy myself. My rate, NEC, and the time period (2003) guaranteed at least 4 deployments in the next 10 years so I chose to let Uncle Sam keep his retirement money.

Small update in first post. Between the stuff the wife wants done around the house and a project I volunteered to do for my oldest daughter's baby shower, I haven't had much time. Need to spend the next couple of days repairing my Sandy for a Make a Wish event on sunday, so might not get much done. Still waiting for a couple hard pieces and going to tackle the soft parts myself after a few good sewing lessons from my daughter and mother in law.

By being a work coverall, the Redkap usually needs to be taken in around the arms and legs, since you probably aren't wearing a lot underneath it. A lot of apps get kicked back because of the bagginess. As for armor, I went with SC due to the combined factors of quality, cost, and delivery time. Please read build threads and in general as much as you can before pulling the trigger. As an example, I nearly went with an SC bucket before I realized it would not fit my Punkin Head.

People hate to see this response, but in the spirit of the rule (and the reasons I suppose are behind it) once you reach 10 posts you will gain access to the trade forums. Go poke around the are a you have access to now and drop a couple of posts, tell people who you are and what interests you--anything to get over that threshold.

That is an awesome trick! Thanks!

Does your machine allow you to drop the feed dogs down? I don't know how taping ov er them would work.

I emailed Mike and he quickly acknowledged his mistake and offered to send me the correct set on Monday.

I ordered a set of these while I await the arrival of my Altmann bucket, given these were a common replacement item. I received the decals in the mail today....these are better? They're almost completely black...the flash actually helped to see the two different colors. Are these for the shadow scout?

Well, received my red Kap coveralls a week or so ago. Threw them in the wash and went to try them on this morning to figure out how much I need to take in.... Definitely should have read up on sizing issues! I'm 5'9" and wear coveralls for my job, so went with 42R--big mistake! Like others have said, I had to hunch over just to zip up. VERY tight in the crotch. Just ordered a 42L, but going to set me back on time since I don't want to do the other soft parts until I have the flight suit finished. On another note, went ahead and bought the speed glass kit and it came in yesterday...black bolt covers were a surprise.

I think it would have a visor for a couple reasons: 1-as you said, it's an important part of the helmet, and 2-their use of "lens/visor", specifically the "/". If it did not include what *we* interpret as the visor, it would read "lens OR visor". I think a lot of people call the lens the visor, judging by my browsing of the forums. That's probably what happened.

Yep. The pics are right out of the box. Probably needs some more trimming.

OK, got home from work and found this:

Updated current status on first post. Sadly, nothing exciting--just posting to keep the topic active.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I measured my head by holding a tape measure straight in front, down to my chin with my mouth open wide (and yes, I looked like an idiot). It measured over 10-1/2 inches.

Done, but thanks! How is the elastic in the kit? Particularly the 35mm (or lack thereof)? Been scoping Ebay for either the elastic or the suspenders like I have read here. Given how many people were looking, I'd assume SC doesn't put it in their kit?
-
Yep, can't complain about SC....Ordered last Friday, will be at my door tomorrow. I've gotten at least two emails on top of my paypal notices telling me the status of my order. Top notch customer service right there! Now, if they'd only rework their helmet molds to fit my noggin'.....

Yeah, I'd really like to get my hands on an Altmann lid. Just PM'd Spike, so we'll see if he has any left.

Sorry to beat this dead equine, but I'm nearing the finish line in gathering my stuff to start my build. I'm really shooting for a fall approval, so I'd like good, honest opinions based on this criteria: 1--Most importantly, I have a big head. 23-3/4 to 24" circumference by my measurement. 2--Again, I want to be approved in the next few months, so I can't wait for the "better" helmets to become available and/or ship. 3--I am proficient in assembly, and not scared off by "needs work to be approved" 4--On that note, I am looking to go Lancer, if not immediately, soon enough. This point I am willing to concede the time constraint. So, given the above, would a KS KIT be a sound investment (I've read the pre-built horror stories) ? Thanks, Kevin

Sorry, just saw your question. I used the one talked about in this thread: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28793-my-experience-using-a-throat-mic-and-source-for-a-mic-only-version/
