I haven't gotten that far in my build, but I'd assume that between socks and your coverall pant legs you shouldn't have much to worry about.

SC Thermal Detonator Color Issue?
kayelbe replied to TeaJay's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Too late for you, but Testors Navy Aggressor Gray (FS36251) is a pretty good match to the Trooperbay decals, and is what I used on my snout and helmet bolts. -
You are doing it right. The CRL says vertical and horizontal Ribbing. If you picture the sole pattern as a series of tiny "H" shapes, you can see the "vertical" and "horizontal" ribs.

I went ahead and did that on mine. Made it a little easier to do the riding patches, anway.

Changes in the SC armor for Lancer approval?
kayelbe replied to bradyapba's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Are you asking what the physical difference is? Elastic stretches, webbing doesn't. Where it just says "webbing", I assume means either Nylon or Cotton. -
Changes in the SC armor for Lancer approval?
kayelbe replied to bradyapba's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
That brings up a game changing question for me....which CRL standard is, well, the standard? The 501st.com "Level 2" or BSN's CRL for Lancer? I ask, because I just ordered the 1-5/8" cotton webbing from the UK for the side straps because the Lancer Specs here say that is what is required. The 501st CRL says 2", either webbing or elastic. I'm confused, because the CRL here says 2014, so I would think that a year is plenty enough time to get the 501st page updated. -
Changes in the SC armor for Lancer approval?

http://m.homedepot.com/p/Stanley-10-in-Medium-Duty-Riveter-MR33C/203771504 Any low cost rivet gun will work fine. I forgot the size of the rivets, but they are located next to the rivet guns at whatever store you go to. The paint is for the snout greeblies and the bolts. Some people sew velcro to their flight suit to help keep armor pieces in place. It's in the instructions from SC. -
Changes in the SC armor for Lancer approval?

Personally, for my build, I also bought the sew-in velcro for the vest, boots, and for helping to keep the armor pieces in place. My SC kit only had about 12 inches of 1-inch elastic, which wasn't near enough to cover all the pieces. Don't know if that was a packing error or what. Might want to keep that in mind. Also, since you are talking Lancer, the side strap material provided was elastic so you probably want to get the right stuff for that. -
Can't find side strap material (Lancer Spec)
kayelbe replied to kayelbe's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Found some on Etsy....but it's Natural Cotton. How effective is bleaching to get them white? I don't want the natural version for the build--all white is what I'm going for. -
Can't find side strap material (Lancer Spec)

Like the title says, I can't find 1-3/4" webbing for the chest/back sides. Searching the forums, people are saying jontay.com and strapworks.com, but they don't seem to carry that size. Anybody have a link? Straight white, preferred. Thanks, Kevin -
Ok, that's what I was thinking, Jim. This build is way different than a TK/TD. Really only two layers with those.

Finally got to work on my coveralls. Finished the cuffs and added the riding patches/elastic. Ignore the chalk marks, I haven't washed these yet... Have the Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes this weekend, hopefully I can get some more time to start my vest. Would it be a good idea to assemble the chest/back before doing the vest? Or, would it matter since the bund could/would cover the vest if it were too long? In other words, what should I do next?

Helmet Forehead Decals Question (Three Vertical Bars)
kayelbe replied to Pale Rider's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
___________ is right. If it will make you feel better, people are saying to "replace the decals" on the Altmann helmets. I just assumed that meant ALL of them. -
no. You need a minimum forum post count (I thought it was 10, but some say 5 posts). Once you hit that mark, you can view most of the forums, including the for sale one.

In another few posts, he will!

OK, got some time to sit down at the sewing machine. I tailored my flight suit some. In this pic, I haven't hemmed the sleeves/legs or added the mandarin. How is the fit? And here's with the collar and my bucket: Something weird with my phone's camera is making it look grainy. Been trying to figure that out for an hour...

SC sells armor parts a la carte. Check them out.

After looking over the helmet, I'm not sure what needs to be modified for Lancer. The bolt covers might be a little thick, but they are flat and look to be the right diameter and color... The decal on the nose is actually multiple pieces--the grey arc with black strips--have the Trooperbay replacement set, so no big deal. The fish hook looks okay, but I'm no expert. This thing fits just like I had hoped! I have a 24 inch noggin, and I was worried that my chin would show but it doesn't. Very satisfied!

Altmann bucket received! No padding or hardhat liner installed yet, but here's a pic taken right after I opened the box!

Well, I wasn't looking that long ago since I've only been around for about a year... I just found the ones I was talking about. Skutch made them up and he requested they be 501st use only. A whole bunch of different ones, including the ones you linked above. I didn't read all 38 pages of the thread, so maybe he lifted the restriction. For those with Legion Forum access, here's the link: http://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=28538&hilit=chatter

My bad....when did that change? When I was looking for the sandtrooper loop, it was only available on the 501st boards via member login.

The trooper sound files are limited to 501st members.

Unless something has changed since last month, you will get it within a week of payment. I ordered on a Friday (7/24) and the box was on my doorstep the following Friday. So far, the fastest part of my build. Even the Redkaps off Amazon took 10 days to arrive.
