  1. Its the most common one we use. Unless someone can find a better option. The Redkap has a lot going for it -- cheap, easily obtained, variety of sizes, double zipper, easily modded and very few things to remove. The biggest mark against it is that it is HOT. But if we could track down a black racing suit that was cool, didn't have a million pockets and zippers to remove and was affordable, I'm sure we'd all jump on it.
  2. Yeah the Red Kaps seem to be short in the torso or something. You could go up a size but then you'd probably have to do some more tapering on the sleeves and legs to keep it from being too baggy. Or you could slit the crotch open and stitch some spandex in there to stretch it out better.
  3. I second that. Gabe makes all the soft goods: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Maxs-Sci-fi-Creation-Shop/1651285501763603?fref=ts
  4. There's no one place to buy everything, and ideally you shouldn't, as some prop makers excel at some pieces more than others and a one stop shop might not necessarily have the best fit for you for everything. Occasionally members will sell their whole suits, but you won't be able to access those trade forums until you post at least 5 times. You can also check your local garrison to see if anyone is selling. I have my preferences when it comes to scout parts, if you want my suggestions, PM me.
  5. It wasn't anything earth-shattering. Just a link to this: http://www.rspropmasters.com/creating-the-biker-scout-replica-helmet-part-1/
  6. The one Dickey Beer had with him at Celebration looked pretty standard to me. Not large, not small. I'm also a bit taller than Dickey Beer!
  7. As far as I know they aren't done with them yet. I sent them the 50% deposit and was never asked for the rest. Then a few days ago they sent out a progress email.
  8. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Maxs-Sci-fi-Creation-Shop/1651285501763603?fref=ts You're welcome
  9. My advice is to submit for Lancer. That is a seriously good looking Scout!
  10. My buddy Gabe is a local prop maker and 501st member here in L.A. He was specializing in Snow troopers for awhile but he's now doing scout parts. Hit him up https://www.facebook.com/pages/Maxs-Sci-fi-Creation-Shop/1651285501763603?fref=ts
  11. Hahah yeah you can't really see it. He could be wearing a chin cup and it's just up in the snout where we can't see it.
  12. So that stitching around the vest sleeve is the shoulder bell strap?
  13. I found this picture online. This shot did not appear in the film. I've never seen it before so I thought I'd share. And if you have seen it already, this won't be news. A lot of cool details here! Clear shots of the forearm and bicep armor straps. Nice view of how the pouch attaches to the bund. And there seems to be some sort of stitching around the circumference of the flak vest sleeve.
  14. Yes indeed. My vest has velcro on it to hold the shoulder bell up
  15. The snout looks okay to me. Do you mean it sits too far down in that groove? I have the DVH/Rottie snout so it was fine. Some of the decals are off but you got the Trooperbay ones so you should be okay. Yeah if the hinge bolts are rounded they need to be changed. My KS was held together with rivets so I just painted some 1 inch aluminum discs and glued them over the connection. I assume the inside is painted black and there is no mesh in the ears? Looks pretty good to me dude!

  17. The rule on weathering: as long as it's not overdone.
  18. Hey buddy I'm in your future garrison. If you need any help, please feel free to hit me up. I know 1 or 2 Kashys that can point you in the right direction
  19. As long as the belt is resting on your hips, that's as good as it's gonna get! Nice work
  20. You don't get anything other than the personal satisfaction of knowing you did your best on your build and hopefully the admiration of your peers (but that's probably a stretch!) You need real suede to get Lancer status. It's a bit pricier but not obnoxiously so. I got a 6 ft sq piece of pigskin for $25 from Tandy Leather. And that was enough for thigh patches, butt flap and some leftover. But the vast majority of Scouts get on just fine with basic clearance. I'm just one of those people that wants to do everything the best possible, so not going for Lancer was never an option for me.
