MB is retiring from making KT's.............but!!!!
bjsavage7 replied to mrbungle's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper HQ
Great news indeed! Maybe I will get to make a CB after all. -
That works the best for me, out of all the different things I've tried. I started out with suspenders, but they don't stay secure after hours of trooping. Velcro is a Scout's best friend.

Welcome & good luck with your build.
-
They look identical to the same vinyl we use today, but it wouldn't totally surprise me if it were a similar, cheap patent leather, like sir david suggests. That stuff was used for everything in the early 80s. lol...I think I'll stick with the vinyl though.
-
You can do it man! It just takes a little time and patience.
-
I really wish I could help you, brother. Unfortunitely, I'm a long, long way away. Check out the Kashyyyk section here. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showforum=28 Also, get with the local garrison. Hopefully they will lend you a hand. http://oldlinegarrison.com/

Looks long like an MLC, but has the bumpy visor bolts like KS. Can't quite make out the snout...Maybe an Altmann's he picked up?
-
Nice. Yeah, wouldn't take too much to Lancer that up. Paint, lense, decals, snout, visor bolts....could be a real beauty.
-
I'm sure it wouldn't take too much work at all to get it up to specs. I've never held one in my hands, but they look good from the ones I've seen. Do you have pics of it?
-
I really MUST learn to sew one of these days! I might start saving more money.
-
Yeah, like Dart says, AA didn't make the scout lids, but he did make the TIE pilot, Rebel Fleet Trooper, and the prototype Navy Trooper bucket. The Scout lid definitely wasn't created until later, in California. It wouldn't really surprise me much if he tried to make a Scout helmet of his own to sell in certain parts of the world.

Cool pic! I'm certainly becoming more of a Kashyyyk Trooper fan.

New TB image with interesting details
bjsavage7 replied to ozarkscout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Wow. I know I've seen this pic before, but never the whole body shot, or with these Interesting details pointed out. I guess some of these features could've been a prototype. Now I know why Kenner and Hasbro continue to get the boot holster wrong...they were looking at this pic. -
Thats pretty cool. Interesting to see what a scout probably looked lke between EPIII & IV.
-
I got mine built. I had to dremmel out the rivets to put in the visor bolts. Not a huge task. Probably easier then building the whole thing. Although, a built helmet is more expensive. The snout is an easy swap. The KS one just pulls right off. Get an accurate one from MC to replace it with. Trooperbay decals are more accurate. I'd get those. Might as well go Lancer from the begining and save yourself time and money upgrading later.

Spoken like a true Biker Scout!
-
Good luck, Mr. B! Wish you the best! Now I wish I had jumped on your last run. LOL.
-
Yeah, that would be good to know. I know official names like E-11, or DLT-19 have been used or a long time. Who made up those? It seems like ROTJ in general, gets a lot less love when it comes to technical information & behind-the-scenes sorta stuff.
-
I wouldn't recommend cutting it either. I used the velcro strip like Jim said, and it worked fine.
-
I've never done anything to mine, but troop & sweat in them, & they've held up to plenty of abuse w/no issues over the last two years.

Needs more cowbell pictures!

Lonewolf Biker Scout Helmet, new version
bjsavage7 replied to lonewolf's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
That is one good looking helmet, sir!
