neck seal Why stormtrooper neck seals for Scouts?
4505Marcel replied to TB-7076's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Id be in the no neck seal camp just balaclava for me -
I dont have the blue rays, and we cant discuss unless we can all see what were discussing bud Which is why we need it posted, plus it would be nice to have a clear shot for the archives for future reference.

Its a waste of time trying to take photos of the screen for the quality, best bet is to run it through a laptop or pc and do a screen grab if its capapble of running blue rays that should do the trick

Thanks Mike

Once again I havent refused anything John, as I said above it does look like 6 but we need to be carefull how we change things again. I have done more for the CRL's than any previous DL trying to better the scout for the 501st legion and its troopers. Ive not sat back and done nothing, wether you like me or not you cannot deny what I have done to better the scout putting my neck on the line. The reason I said about a vote is because this is what the forums members asked for so not silly at all, we have to be diplomatic on something as trivial as a stitch line, with a major change like the vest and thigh patches that was a no brainer as they are CLEARLY on screen. I do not feel a 6 or 7 stitch is acceptable thing in the CRL is right, we need to nail it and have only one so we are the same. Im not against any changes to better us Morten, I think that is obvious by what I have pushed to date but only with concrete evidence other wise we are just doing things on a whim. We have to remember this forum contains all kinds of troopers and nut just accuracy nuts so it has to be fair to everyone. The lancer programme is for the accuracy guys with that we can do what we like as its a choice to go for it or not. That being said, as stated it costs nothing more to change the number of stitches so happy to change that one, but I do want to see clearer pictures so I can use them, but it will go to a vote after we have discussed this. Besides its less work for me and the crazy amounts of bunds I make lol.

Yes thats certainly one way around it bro

You seem abit too quick to have a pop John, thats not what I was suggesting at all and I have agreed it looks like 6. I mearly said lets see what other grabs we can get, preferably clearer, it would be nice to have a blue ray screen grab rather than a poor phone picture for CRL photos. Either way im not going to jump and change the CRL straight away, when I did this last time I got a lot of flak for it, we need to let everyone have a vote on it and go from there and have a time scale for the change. Im already getting pm's from worried troopers who a near to getting a 501st clearance and fear they will now have to change again at the last minute for clearance, and rightly so after reading this. And I do think about the guys who want accuracy, I changed the two main things in the CRL this year the vest and thigh patches and a lot of troopers hated that, and that was far more important than one less stitch line I recon. The legion asked that I did not change the standard CRL too much so I may well just add this to the lancer one, but we can see what everyone wants to do.

Yep does look like 6, lets see what other screen grabs we can come up with.
-
The only evidence is a screen grab at the end of the day, someone PLEASE post some up for us so we can nail this
-
The 7 stitch lines came from a lengthy discussion many moons ago on here, and was backed up by a picture and was agreed upon by members and staff, cant for the life of me find it now though which is really frustrating. Now im all up for changing the CRLs if hard evidence is found, if not it will stay as it was decided, its upto you all if you want different numbers, but the CRL states what it states as does the lancer CRL anything else will fail an application in my eyes, as we need to be uniform. But as I said I will change the CRL with hard concrete evidence only, as we did with the TD grreeblie. But we have to change when new things pop up for accurays sake, but not for opinions
-
Agreed they both seem to have 5 BUT I would need to see a screen grab as that is what we are after a screen accurate scout not promo or one that has been put together on a manequin. If you can get blue ray stills that would be awesome, unfortunatley I dont have star wars on blue ray and probably not likely to buy it any time soon so cant do it myself Obviously I make so many of these it would be beneficial to me to know the truth
-
I wouldnt use this picture to change the CRL, there is no hard proof of anything from that, even this has inaccuracies like the TD. Now blue ray screen grabs would be the definate conclusion for me, and worthy of a CRL change. It would be nice to get a grab from a few troopers so we can rule out more stitches for larger scouts ect

Boots, do I need a new leg part? Are they good?
4505Marcel replied to a topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
In my opinion they will not be clearable mate sorry, they really do look nothing like scout boots. The soles are the wrong colour the shape is wrong and there is no rear closure. I fear you may need to buy anouther pair -
I use suspenders (braces is what we call them) but I use black webbing instead of the elastic. Usually bunds are too low because troopers have made them too wide or loose, but they do drop as a troop goes on without the aid of barces, velcro or poppers.

Yup E6000 or marine goop same thing mate, dont use hot glue for anything on a scout apart from attaching the visor

Apologies for not getting the voted upon site updates done
4505Marcel replied to 4505Marcel's topic in Announcements
Its just frustrating, I want these things done for us to enjoy -
Evening troopers, I just wanted to post a liitle note to apologise for not having the forum updates done yet that we all voted on a while back, please dont think I am sitting back doing nothing as thats not the case. Truth is my hands are tied, Andi and myself decided to bring in a new admin member a few weeks back. As things wernt moving as id like, trouble is now we have in new staff and he cant do any of the updates as Greg aka "Vpier" hasnt responded to my request to get the admin log in details to get the job done. So were stuffed really untill he gives them to us, there is also issues with other detachment sites reading the main legion thread in the same boat as us waiting for a response from him also. Hopefully this will be resolved soon and we can get this done for you to inject some life back in to the BSN. Well thats where we are, sorry it is taking so long guys Marcel

SC utility belt HELP needed!!!
4505Marcel replied to mariellejaworski's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I would use a plastic weld to attach the belt sections, failing that a couple of small rivits, I wish id have plastic welded mine instead of using rivits. And then a single rivit on the back to hold the webbing belt. With the drop boxes just slip the webbing through the buckles in one piece, and rivit to the belt at the back behind where the TD tube goes out of site. I found a drop of hot glue behind the belt front holds the webbing to stop it slipping about. Dont use the nylon drop box straps supplied find a cotton strap and use that, the nylon webbing is ok for the back of the belt at a push, but again id use cotton -
You will need a lightly textured marine grade vynil mate in white.
-
Yeah just shim the greeblies to lift them over the slot untill you can get a more accurate TD box mate
-
The vest in the picture is mine, when I made mine a few years back and when I asked questions. At the time it was the norm to have a heavy weight fabric on the body and a lighter shinier fabric on the sleeves. Today though we dont ask for this, so you will be fine for lancer at this time to have a vest made with fabric the same all over mate.

We do have troopers down that way, have you posted this on the UKG forum mate as it maybe easier to spot this???

Two specific types of Biker Scout
4505Marcel replied to lonewolf's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
With reguard to TK's or bobas having various labels the difference are there only because of the various films as they appeared in more than one and hero or stunt none of which applies to scouts as we were just in one movie with no main charectors that required special add ons if you like like the did for luke or Han. There is no mr no stripes or missing parts labeled troopers. So this is not the same really, but yes I can see where your going with the death star or endor deployed. But a scout is still a scout wether its dirty or not. Would the legion go for two different labels just because of weathering mmm im not sure as weathering has always been optional. Possibly this will have to stay within the BSN and troopers listed on here as say pathfinder deployed or pathfinder garrisoned, and the same for our lancers? -
First point of call should be our Kashyyyk armourers mate they will steer you in the right direction. Welcome to the BSN, look forward to seeing your progress

Two specific types of Biker Scout
4505Marcel replied to lonewolf's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I agree with Philipp I cant really see the point either at this point, we struggle at best to get anyone to go for lancer (maybe two or three a year) let alone go for a certain style. Fact is its just not as common for folk to bother to go above and beyond with our beloved scout. Its not like the TK's where nearly everyone goes for ceturian or similar, plus we didnt really have a stunt or hero version like the TK's as no main charector needed a close up for us so no extra details , we were just thrown together if you like. Now this is just my view and mine only but I never understood the lack of thought that went into weathering on a scout either, its absolutely pants in my eyes. Just spaying some paint that was probably left over from some other prop, and used that on a really nice set of armour in such a way that possibly could happen in duty. I wish they had paid a little more attention when they did it, lets look at it this way where the heck would they get daft black paint splats like that from in a forest, fact is they wouldnt. I went for a more real world look and I opted for greens and brown pigments that would happen in a forrest, and I flicked along the sides of my helmet and armour with a sponge to look like branches had whipped against it. I also added very dark brown/black flicked with a tooth brush to look like oil splats from the speeder, which to me makes alot more sense. Weathering should always be optional in my mind, as it has always has been. For me it comes down to a troopers taste on how they want their armour to look as long as the fundamentals are there armour wise especially as clean and dirty are seen on screen so who are we to judge as long as the build is good. I was just talking about this to Andi today, and he also agreed this should be done for your own taste and pride if a trooper decides to go uber accurate. There are still too many details/measurments missing that we dont know about, to ever call ourselves ubber uber accurate but can only hope we come up trumps one day as we slowly are.
