  1. Cool good to hear your parts are on the way, remember to ask lots of questions along the way. Oh and post pictures we like pictures
  2. Started roughing out the parts this weekend, starting to look like the rifle now...... Excuse the kids batman lego set they just put together and the packed up MG in the back ground lol
  3. That company you gave me the link for mate thanks, aparently no one really stocks it with the rounded edges, normally just square. That company has extruded several lengths for a certain job a company ordered it for so I got lucky. Down side I had to order 2 mtrs when I only needed 700mm approx, so have some in stock if anyone else decides to go this route, its 46.5mm square and when sat up against my MG barrel is pretty close and the bipod ect size wise is spot on, doesnt look much at the moment, but will come to life. Just need to find someone to machine the muzzel break for me out of ali
  4. Well after buying the MG42 and deciding it was not right after all, Ive decided to scratch build the DC-15x instead. Got hold of some suitable round edge ali box section, and have pre drilled the barrel holes, I will be using the original butt, grips and bipod from the MG. This is the battle front rifle My bits so far Im going to get the muzzel break machined out of ali and make the reciever out of wood with added greebles and a real scope Its a tough one to completely nail as in the game the blaster changes detail alot as its a bit wishy washy More to follow...........
  5. I have velcro on the inside of my belt and the corresponding sewn onto the bund bottom edge, never had an issue with the bund slippingbelow the belt
  6. I have an MLC and altmanns and my head is 23" the MLC is a tighter fit than the Altmanns, but is the one I wear.
  7. If MC can ship to you fairly quick id say that would be the way to go for your build. That being said I love my SC armour but is more suited to a taller broader trooper, but like Terry said it can be made to fit if you dont mind the work. Where abouts are you in the UK mate as there maybe a UKG member close to you who could help?
  8. I just brought a sheet of abs from the model shop and cut a strip about 20mm wide and heated it a little to give it the curve to match the holster
  9. I used the Dylon stone colour, one hit pouch rather than the bigger box they sell. I left it in the dye half as long as recomended and washed them twice. But any way giving a good result will do bro
  10. I used tea the dye method on my tusken, but found sticking new white pouches, and the drop box straps and side straps in a bowl of weakened down dylon stone dye gives a better result than trying to match things up later, just get them all the same to start with is my suggestion for those starting out. But yes it does work as long as the end result is the same, I've stopped offering off white pouches now, as I feel dying together is the way to go for perfect finish
  11. You need to search for TWILL here in the UK mate, duck cloth is more of a US thing. Its a sort of heavy denim like fabric. You have a choice with pouches mate they can be white or off white, but with off white pouches you need off white drop box straps and side straps. I personally wouldnt try and find off white material for the pouches mate, if you want to have off white pouches thats all good, but you will then need to have off white drop box straps and off white material on the side of your armour holding the chest and back together to match. Try getting those all to match well, it just wont happen. Best thing to do now I have found is to make your pouches in white out of the same material as the bund, then buy COTTON strapping for the drop box and side straps (different sizes) and then dye the pouches and straps togther giving a perfect match, I just used Dylon stone weakened down a little to make my new pouch bits. Thats why I no longer offer off white pouches as it is far better done this way for a good match, it wasnt in the crl before about all white parts or off white pouches with off white straps so it didnt really matter before too much. Hope this helps bud
  12. Or there is Ebay mate thats where I got my straps, remember you need real suede if you ever want to go for lancer, just buy the thinnest Tandy have got
  13. I dont have any pics of my set up but my straps look like a capital T if you like. I have a popper mounted on both sides of my armour, The sort of the short sides of the T if you like is made of 25mm black webbing, on each end of the webbing is the opsosite popper and these clip into my armour. Coming from the webbing is then a 50 sewn tube of the right cotton fabric seen on the bridges, I then sort of wrap around the gap, covering it. Then extended from this 50mm piece of fabric I then have anouther short length of black webbing which my shoulder bell hangs on. Once fitted all you can see is the fabric covering the gap of the armour
  14. Very nice mate all your hard work has paid off
  15. Looking good so far mate, seems like you know where your going with it all Look forward to more pics
  16. Cant see why not mate, but look at it carefully before un picking
  17. Yup butt flap is hanging loose and just sewn along the top edge out of sight (above waist). I brought half a hide from Tandy leather and id say it would do atleast 3 scouts. Just buy the thin suded and any normal machine will sew it, or you can hand sew. Mark the crotch patches on the suit with chalk and then it will give you an idea of if its moved when sewing
  18. As we know when it comes to the scout on screen and the blue ray special, everything is flipped/mirrored upside down and your right it is darn confusing. Most go with rectangles up and in the interest of us being uniform at troops it would be good if we all did the same, so at events things look sweet and tickerty boo
  19. Yup I use E6000, its exactly the same as Goop mate, and to cut the heels I use a scalple and curved scissors used for radio controlled car bodies, available at all good model shops
