Yea man they never sit flush. Ive tried it on a few different builds, i was only able to get it really close to flush on the fiberglass MLC3 hlmet. ll the ABS kits will have a little gap there, but so do the screen used, so i think your ok. I agree with Marcel that ya may have went a bit larger on the earholes, but eh not the end of the world.

I just use an Aker MR 1506 amp and its perfectly fine, and everyone says i sound just like the real scouts. Its just an amplifier, but it does give you that type of sound. They sell for around $37 with free shipping direct from China. Ive bought a few through e-bay with zero problems. If you just search "Aker voice amplifier", they will come up.

Snout Greeblie and one more question
Darth Voorhees replied to stasz's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
i have em ready to go if you need -
These are completely my size. Im willing to sell ...a kidney... if you ever decide you want to sell them lol Even thought they dont have that horizontal line around the heel, they are still super close!

That looks great! I must have had a defective can...or perhaps it was too cold. Thats a great alternative to standard paint. I did use regualr Kryloin primer and it worked out fine. Its not THAT flexy of a blaster so it seems to be holding up well so far. Thanks for posting that though, im going to add it to my sale thread

So i tried good ol krylon black primer and it worked perfectly fine. I tried plasticote, and no bueno. lol It rubbed right off and also put a texture on it that wasnt desired (i spent hours trying to get everything smooth on the master lol)

I have an LW and love it....but they are a little hard to come by Ive had KS, MLCv3 ...i like the LW best, the MLCv3 was very nice and pretty durable, but the KS was light and i did like that. In those respects the LW is right in the middle. Thicker gauge plastic, light weight and a VERY sturdy helmet.

Hardshell Suitcase Recommendations
Darth Voorhees replied to Musicaljedi's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
As a personal rule i never bring my gear on the plane lol. I just dont trust them, ESPECIALLKY if you need to switch planes mid trip. I always ship my costume to my hotel, and then back home. That said, many folks DO take their armor on planes with no issues. I have a tote that is actually airline approved, and i know quite a few folks that have used them on the airlines with no issues. it is this one: http://www.container...campaign=google Not a suitcase, but it holds everything very well and stads up to quite a bit of abuse. I have had 2 hardshell suitcases and both of them broke after just one flight. Granted they werent $600 luggage, but it made me weary of hardshell cases with armor on an airplane. -
Is this item good enough for lancer
Darth Voorhees replied to uscstaylor's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
If you want one i can ship it with your pistol just LMK! -
too pricey. i think they look good for basic approval. They look better than the old CA boots that were pointy and have a kicked up toe lol. BUT, like everyone said, for scout boots, its better and less expensive to make em via the tutorial here. Its not difficult at all, and they will clear Lancer when done correctly.

Lookin good bud! Nice work!

DONT use standard oil based enamel. it will stay sticky! I am actually going to try an acrylic enamel and see how that holds up. Otheriwise id bet standard hobby acrylics will work. Just test it on it somewhere first

Yea its purely a choice thing. Some people like the painted look (the screen used were painted) others like the crisp clean ABS look. Painted will naturally weather itself easier as well, where ABS will lend itself to staying clean, and is easier to keep clean The TK's in the films were painted, but most TKs like the polished ABS look over painting. All that said, like Chex and 01Hawk said, the only reason you would NEED to paint the KS or SC helmet is to fill that seam along the top....or if the ABS pieces differ in color. (my old KS was like that..it was 3 different shades of white!) I painted mine because it had to be assembled in halves so it needed to be filled and sanded.

Interesting points Rob. I just have a hard time seeing it based on how wrong the faceplate looks to me. Mainly the "forehead" is smaller and it seems to be shorter in general, compared to the screen used. Just seems too off in my eyes to cast from an original. But i guess that can be because of what you mentioned..the top and shroud size. Sometimes a couple of things like that can REALLY throw off the look. Too me, just doesnt look screen accurate no matter what you do to it. Of course, the DP Fett helmet was supposedly cast off of one of the production helmets as well but its grossly small and off in shape in comparison to the screen used...so maybe it has something to do with their processes or the vinyl itself. i really have no clue there. Im not saying you cant get the DP close, and looking very good, but if it was in fact cast from an original, something was lost IMO. I always kind of though LFL didnt want licensed stuff to look as good as the screen used (at least back then) because having access to the real props as DP did back in the day, how come they all look so off ?

Tips for sewing the rear Velcro?
Darth Voorhees replied to 01Hawk's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
i sometimes do what you had mentioned and glue it down the middle with hot glue so it doesn't move, and then just sew it on the edges -
Why of course there is my good sir.. http://forum.bikersc...showtopic=11897

Im still looking...but have come up empty. Im going to likely just scupt the square greeblie more accurately for now. I think its good to just know what models were used for various parts in the same film, as it may be a kit part from a model they used other parts from on a different costume. (like the ferrari 312t4, which also has quite a few Boussh parts) If we know other model kits used in ROTJ, that may be a good place to start, as it would make sence they would use parts they may have in front of them before digging through more kits. On that note, I have found a few of the ferrari kits, but im trying to nab one for a little less coin since im out of work and broke most of the time right now lol. But they are on e-bay for around 100-150 bucks or so.

501st Pathfinders Detachment - Lancer Page
Darth Voorhees replied to Griffin-X's topic in Announcements
cool..i want to add a little more weathering, but more like the black spray seen in the film or Ginos suit, and less "brown realistic dirt" ..but if its ok as is, i wont go through the trouble to remove the little bit of brown -
501st Pathfinders Detachment - Lancer Page
Darth Voorhees replied to Griffin-X's topic in Announcements
I really need to get my stuff sorted for Lancer..im almost there...just trying to mod the det. clips i got to better resemble the screen used, and attach fresh webbing to my belt. Im also thinking about removing the small amount of "brownish" weathering i have and going strictly with the misted black spray paint look only...even though i think what i have now Slight brownish acrylic wash and the misted black spray paint) is more "realistic". Im pretty sure i have all of the other requirements at this point...i think lol. Do you guys think i need to remove this brownish i have on here to clear or can i just add the spray paint mist: -
RS Prop Masters TB Helmet - coming soon
Darth Voorhees replied to ukscout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Also realize this will be the first time a scout helmet is available that is cast off an original. Back when the first TK helmet was available cast off an original, (TE i believe) the price was actually more than this. I think its justified and that people will pay it to have the first scout bucket cast off an original, and likely made from the same materials as the original, just like thier TK helmets. This is of course, only my opinion, based on what ive seen in the past, and off thier TK helmet prices that seem to sell well -
