The post office really isn't paying attention as of the last few years, at least in Chicago, they are much too be desired. I figure if you replace the staff with robots, things might get done, packages found QUICKLY in the back warehouse, and staff wouldn't roll their eyes when you ask a question, or need help. If you have good staff where ever you live.... thank them. If the envelop reads "DO NOT BEND," don't bend it to get it into the mail slot. Cool armor! Be sure to post your progress pics!

I like the pads of the first one as well. Great job! What type of glove are you using for a base?

The Acrylikhan Armor Project Files
Acrylikhan replied to Acrylikhan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Very soon I hope. I've had some personal things going on, work being a bear too, but hopefully I'll get some more work done on the armor soon. More holster pictures coming up, and some chest armor forming bucks as well. sit tight, and stay tuned. -
Great find Lonescout! I think I will check into these before I decide If I'm going to hand make them. The thigh pouches... what did you use?

More weapons building - this time the rifle. Lots of lathe work, and some minor assemble. Killin' time while I get the biker scout chest armor in order. More photos to come.

I think you could also get away with a hard rubber urethane. It would still look like the real deal, and would be slightly flexible. A piece of camo material could be glued or stretched on to the part. Or a slush cast of hard rubber urethane with a foam backing could also work. I'm think material might be inconsequential, just so it looks correct/screen accurate. That's my $1.37+tax. -
I think it mostly depends on the look you are going for. Large guns can be cumbersome, and has a lot more weight to carry around on a troop. The DC-15S is smaller, and lighter, but would equally complete your armor. I've built a DC-15S, and I am in the process of building the DC-15L rifle. I am trying to make the rifle so that I can disassemble it for easy transport, which is proving to be an interesting to figure out. I'd say build the DC-15S, as it's simple, and quick to build. That way you'll be ready to troop in your armor. Build the rifle second.

Type in "Inches to centimeters" in any search engine, and you'll get the an automated were you an plug in teh centimeter measurements and will spit out an inch result. Rogue: Well done! Pretty much spot on with most military pouches.

Those turned out very nice!! She followed the plans to a "t." The pads look very light, did she match the color to the greeblie? I think you should be able to get some stuff from The Leather Company to darken them. Kick @$$!!

I'm not sure if this is still active... been a couple of months.

Kashyyyk Armor the Original Done!

Yes! That's the look Angelo!! And the glove greeb turned out good! -
You will find me, eventually at the Bettie Ford Clinic in the Model maker's ward to get over my addiction. So let's see... my jig saw is in for repairs and the blades for my band saw are on back order. My planar is out on loan to a friend who's building something really cool... so the Acrylikhan Biker Scout Project is officially on hold for a while. I need to fill that empty void with another project. So, thanks to Mr. Bungle... I have found something to pass the time! Time to build a DC-15L! I am hoping to build the rifle so that it can be broken down into three parts for easy transport/storage, and easy assembly for events. But it also has to be sturdy! This is pictures from the first day of building. The front barrel construction is completely PVC pipe, and PVC sheets. I used teh table saw to cut the groves, and cemented together. The barrel and muzzle are two separate parts. I turned a fitting for the inside of the PVC pipe. The muzzle is a separate piece altogether. I am hoping to use a long thread rod to attach the whole thing together. The muzzle will be a separate piece keyed into position by a couple of dowel pins, and then held in place by rare earth magnets. I will be making a colored plug for the gun that will fit into the muzzle barrel. Illinois law requires that all non functioning, toy, paint ball, Airsoft guns have a brightly colored barrel plug, or face a fine and confiscation of the gun. I will be making a special plug that will be held in place by a magnet that will insert into the muzzle, but can be removed for display and pictures. I turned a portion of the the fixture for the mid section. It's out of a very dense urethane, that has some great tensile properties. The bad part is that there are a number of these holes that need to be filled for aesthetic effects. Bondo should make light of the situation.

Are you using a fixative on the graphite after you apply it? I would think It would tend to get a little messy handling it afterwards.

Great Job Stuntmam! -
They liked it plain black, without the silver wear, the new, or slightly new looking finish. I'm thinking maybe I could have toned it down with a wash with some dark brown. You know... I forgot to add the targeting strips on to the muzzle sights. I'll have to find my adhesive foil, and break out the double blade X-acto.

Thanks!

Kashyyyk Trooper Gloves Discussion
Acrylikhan replied to Acrylikhan's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Soft Parts
Here's a quick question... for everyone... regarding the glove greeblie. I made the greeblie with the notion that it could be mounted underneath the leather/fabric. Hence, I made it with a lip. If I made a greeblie without the lip, do you guys feel that would give you more options for mounting, or are you guys cool with trimming the lip down? After seeing your gloves Angelo, I started thinking about it. Let me know what you guys think. -
Yeah... I got caught up in at work, and I haven't been on... PM replied to.

I've got a question for ya, about your rifle there... How thick is that shoulder stock? Not length or width, the thickness, the "Z" dimension. My plans say it's almost 2 inches at it's widest part... but that seems too thick. What do you think?
