  1. That turned out really nice! I hope the rubber wasn't to hard to cut! I haven't had a chance to work on the forearm rubber bands. I still have yet to get that on the drawing board. Still searching for a good rubber-bandy like urethane.
  2. Rogue, you are awesome - did we tell you that yet??
  3. Thanks Tom! You've definitely convinced me to build one. NOW! Where are those plans??? (shuffles through papers....)
  4. I'm getting mixed results with the weathering.... My buds at work thing I should re do it.
  5. I'm part orangutan... so mine are too long I'm going to try to call up a leather store here in Illinois and see what I can find, either a local glove maker, or a ready to go with some alterations glove. I'm also looking for the original sketches of the Kashyyyk trooper suit. I can't find it in my Dressing a Galaxy CD. I am contemplating writing to Lucas to see if I can get some answers. I wish the Art books they published had just that... ART FROM THE MOVIE... not just tiny freakin' renderings of the digital models. ...sigh...
  6. If your going for the extended gauntlet, I would say the very end should be about two inches away from elbow. That, and your forearm length might change how much material you'll need for the extension.
  7. Yeah, it's been too long, and I'm almost there! Four pieces to go! Back to the holster! I took a tracing of the outside top cuff of my boot to get the proper curve so that the holster would fit without too much modification after it was formed. Referencing back to the movie stills, and my holdout pistol, I cut the block down to a more manageable size. I then transferred the tracing of the outer boot cuff curve to the block, and cut and sanded to the line. ending up with a section of a cylinder. I put the pistol on top of the cylinder and traced and outline so that I could start getting placement of the "bump" that the pistol rests against. The holster starts out as a cylinder, but it sort of squares off in the back. I cut a small cube of the foam block from my source, and started cutting away the unnecessary bits. First, I traced out the outline of the curve, so that the block would lay flush. After that, I positioned the pistol on the cylinder, and cut the block down closer to the height of the grip. The cut the angle for the finger guard, and the silhouette of the front face. I kept looking at the stills to makes sure I was getting this right. And there you have it... fits like a glove. I super glued the block in place, and the filled in the gap with bondo using a syringe pipette. I'll sand some of the bondo down, and the started rounding over edges, making sure there's enough space to account for the thickness of the plastic. I think this particular piece will be formed in ABS instead of styrene, specifically because the holster is two separate pieces. ABS glues together much better than styrene. Next up, more shaping, and then getting started on the second portion of the holster. Stay tuned...
  8. Wow... The tint is that easy to install!
  9. To quote Vader: "Leave that to me."
  10. Will proper dyed and weathered standard US/British/et al Military issued pouches be acceptable for regular admission? We can discuss the Lancer standards later... For the gloves: I think the option for a extra long gauntlet with greeblie, or have it on the suit is a great idea! For the greeblie: Do you want me to send you the five greeblie patterns I've found? Or do you want to standardize some sort of guidelines? Helmet: working hinged faceplate/visor option. But the helmet has to look screen accurate.
  11. Great job, and good luck!
  12. How do you apply it to the plexiglass? That's the only thing I do not know.
  13. The project resumes: the holdout pistol holster...
  14. Wow! Progress!!! Great work bro!
  15. Well Done!
  16. Great! Thanks for posting!
  17. That IS great news!! I will keep my fingers crossed as well.
  18. I think this is going to be one of those personal preference parts of the suit. It would seem the promo pictures, stills from the movie, and pictures from Dressing a Galaxy and the Art of Revenge of the Sith all are completely different. Case in point, I have identified at least four different greeblies that goes on the glove/jumpsuit. (I should publish those here...) The whole mess that ILM's staff wasn't using the same versions of software while creating and animating makes it difficult to figure out. My guess... pic a picture, and work towards making that particular suit. I am curious about how those gloves are going to turn out Mr. Bungle! The source of the picture was from the image DVD from the special edition of "Dressing a Galaxy: The Costumes of Star Wars."
  19. This would be an additional option to get the boot in coyote/tan color, right? Sounds good... I'm worried because I need a large boot size. They do not usually carry a 13/14... and I had to return boots I ordered from them. That, and quality of materials.
  20. I can't wait to see the pictures!
  21. Yeowch! Well, they will be screen accurate!
