Well, I got some great news for you.... anyway you think looks cool to you, is the way you should attach them. Any screen caps of this area are dark or blurry at best.... so there is no definitive answer on what is the "right direction" to attach them. (I double checked the CRLs for Standard and LAncer costumes. They just need the T-bits... that's all.)

I have the final five (5) sets left. (Updated 12/11/2010 - found a couple more sets while going through storage. PM if interested)

I think you can use a PVC pipe endcap, but you might have to cut it down in height size to match the opposite sides' endcap. Take your tubing with so that you get the right sized endcap!

(Not so) unique question for the ladies!
Acrylikhan replied to Cupcake's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I think making an extension might be your best bet. Fire an email at the armor maker and explain yoru situations. See if they have any bad pulls or would be willing to sell/give/barter for just the strap section of the front chest armor and use those pieces to extend your armor out. You will need some plastic shims too, and ABS glue to help reinforce the underside to make it a little stronger. How many inches/centimeters are you off by? Are you considering Lancer status? If you are, you might need some TLC to make the extension invisible. I hope this is a point in some direction. Holler if you need more help. -
I have a few left, if you need them.

?Scaling Pouches for Smaller Scouts?
Acrylikhan replied to LadySewForUs's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
That is a very good question: I'm thinking may be smaller scaling - Maybe closer to 85% of the original sizes? By comparison... I am 6'4" and the size pouches I have look good - which I believe are regulation size. If our new scout is 5'2" - then by proportion - 62-inches / 76-inches = 0.861111111 fraction So by my math 86.1% -

Nice job on the helmet! (wear did you get it?) -
Yes! A marette would be fine, just make sure you have the right size marette. Just for safety, I would also wrap it with a little electrical tape around the wires before twisting on the marette. I think the 9 Volt should be enough... I double checked you picture! From the voltage and amp rating, you should be fine.

Dart, you may need a resistor somewhere in-line to control power from the battery to the fan, depending on the fan's voltage and amp rating. If I am looking at your pictures correctly, it looks like you have both sets of wires set up into the switch (which is forming a "parallel circuit.") That is causing some of the power from the battery to divert right back to itself. That will cause the battery to get hot, and kill the battery quickly - two symptoms your currently experiencing. This can also cause the battery to leak, or worse, POP!! And the effects of battery acid on skin is not good. Battery Incident with UK 501st Member The black wires from the battery and the fan should be connected together. The Switch, however, should only be connecting the red lead from the battery with the lead to the fan. That should be the only wires the switch is connected to. ---- Mounting a Fan ---- This link here should help out a little: Mounting a fan The key is to make sure that the fan is a little off the surface of the interior of the bucket (helmet) so that it can actually circulate the air within the helmet. The above link has a great picture of Witness' interior of the bucket. He attached thumbtacks onto the the fan, and then hot glued the fan in place. Check it out!

I was going to wear it and let it get dirty naturally with troopin'. (... as soon as I can get it completed! ) Some one did a "sticky note" about weathering techniques. It might be in the archive somewhere... AH! here it is!!! http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=1998 -

Need help with the chest plate cracking
Acrylikhan replied to Tom_in_AZ's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
If you can, fix it from the back side with ABS cement. You'll get a better bond than with CA glue. The Cotton cloth trick works very well with ABS cement too. -
Very impressive work. Please keep up the great work!

Bravo!! Well done!

Thanks! It's been a LLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG four years getting this thing scratch built. I am definitely seeing more progress, and trying to get the bucks together for the chest armor. I wish I could get it done quicker, but duty calls, and time is just hard top get a hold of. I should be making another update in a week or two. Progress has been a couple hours a night, thinking. -
Good luck on your build, and can't wait to see your progress.

found another potential bucket.
Acrylikhan replied to Shazbott1540's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Personally, I really don't put any credence to those scores. I found that people can "pad" those with bogus sales, have friends bid on them, and then leave the feedback scores without merchandise ever being purchased. The edges are all rounded, nothing is crisp, the details in the curves on the faceplate are very shallow.... this looks like a recast. -
The LED light on the tank is unacceptable for Lancer status.

Neither can I! How long has it been??!! So lets keep going. I started the work on the back tank, as I am still getting measurements for the torso armor. I already had the template for quite some time now. Quick router work - And a mock up. There's a lot more shaping to do. The tank tapers at the sides, and gently down the back. But for now, its a start. More developments a little later. -

The primer's on, and then a nice urethane coat in the morning. The chest armor is going to take some time, and I will have to work on the back and the front at the same time to make sure that they match up, and both are correct. I am getting the MDF ready for cutting. I am going to try something new with the glue up process. Wood dowel rods to help center the pieces better than my usually slapping a coat of wood glue and clamp it. They're some prayer involved that they won't slip too much from each other while the glue sets. It's amazing what goes through the mind when you have process work going on at the job. Inspiration that is a few years late. I'll still take it! I have set a new goal completion date so that I can get approval. Hopefully, I'll keep at for the remainder of this year. So begins the final chapters.... three pieces worked on together in concert with each. Should be fun, interesting, and a chance to sever a finger in the process. -
They look really good. Do they come in tan or coyote? I couldn't get the stats page to come up.

The bucks for the boot holster are now complete. I just need to make a few blocks for the sides so the plastic flows nicely over it. It's finally done! (After HOW many freakin' months???) I will be applying a layer of urethane epoxy tomorrow to add another layer of durability. Then its into temporary storage... as the forming table is under going modifications... which I hope will be done soon. Once it's formed, I'll post the assembly... and then attach it to the boot. But right now, I am very satisfied. So what's next? CHEST ARMOR! (and re-working the shoulder bells). The last picture I posted I got some great feedback about the shoulder bells being too small for a guy my size. Since I have already made the buck, modification should be very quick. I'll start working on that very soon and post the results. Along with the chest armor, I am working on the back tank. I can start cutting some of the MDF in the next day or two for the first couple of inches before I will need to have the back armor completed before going forward with this particular part. But who knows? Once I start cuttin' and assembling the pieces, ideas may flow, and directions may change. Moving ahead... -
