Zv288bot Posted December 22, 2021 Author Share Posted December 22, 2021 So I realized I need a neck seal. In the show, they have a larger rib followed by 4 smaller ribs. Year back I found a thread on FISD that had someone making a neck seal out of headliner material. Well when I bought it, I had to get a yard so seeing that I have enough to make 20 necks seals, figure I would use the same material.I cut one piece and folded it over. Flipped it inside out to stitch one side with an extra piece of Fabric to use as tab to hold a strip of Velcro. I’m not liking it.I also have a collar on my compression shirt that I didn’t take into consideration. I may just order a new one without and maybe use this one for my TK. I did a quick try on with the T-shirt I was wearing and it’s seems ok. You’ve got a nice and clean build with your soft parts (incredible job btw), so I’m really looking forward to seeing your armor build. I like what you did with the neck seal. “IF” you do decide to redo the bib, consider modeling it after a modern clerical amice. I say modern, because the original style of this garment wrapped around the neck and tied around the back, but the modern ones are smaller and use Velcro. While wearing mine the other week, it hit me that they and are like mini neck seals without the ribbing:There is seam that runs across the top of the shoulders, and the back is split down the center. Some just use Velcro around the neck seal portion, others have Velcro running the entire length down the back. This style lays very nice and flat across the front and back. You can adapt the width to your liking and even taper it towards the bottom if you want. It’s a very easy way to do the bib. I bought a bib from an Etsy vendor after failing at making my own for a JFO build I’m working on. The seal itself is great with a hidden zipper and ergonomic fit around the neck, but I really dislike how the bib portion was done. Even on the helmet that will need to be painted after assembly. The good news is he did send a set of decals in an envelope as well. Just wasn’t expecting to see them. Oh well, looking pretty snazzy. I have no idea what this piece is for? Any takers? ^^^ So not sure if I was supposed to get one or not. But no helmet lense was in box. I do have some extra lense that will work left over from my daughters Mando helmet. It seems to do a good job blocking being able to see any face. Here is a picture of her at the most recent con. She’s 16 and part of the galactic academy here in Georgia. That’s my Chopper too! Can’t wait to start cutting. I know what I will be doing for the next week or two! I purchased some Devcon from Amazon a month ago and went to use it only to find out it was dried up in one end. I had a new bottle of JB weld and used that instead. I drilled a couple of holes below what I would consider the cut line. I will rough cut it out and then go back and sand/file it closer to the line. Getting excited! I’m gonna cut the Mohawk and trim it up.Once I cut the Mohawk as close to the surface as possible I added another layer of JB weld to the top. When I sanded the top of the visor, the visor became very flexible in a bad way. I’m hoping a couple of layers sanded flat followed by some bondo will shore it up. I did see in scaryguys build he mentioned once the visor was attached to the face plate it added the much needed support. (I finally found out that the local ace hardware carry’s it) I’ll be picking some up tomorrow.When I started to sand the bondo I notice the JB weld was coming off in chunks. I started to pick it and it did not bond to the plastic (HIPS) what so ever?! Crazy!! I first noticed when I was sanding the visor.I replaced the JB weld with a piece of sign. Zv288bot Posted January 2, 2022 Author Share Posted January 2, 2022 While the helmet sits. I decided to re-do my neck seal using @AradunFF awesome template! It was so super easy! Highly recommend it for a quick easy bib. Picked up a pre cut yard of black fabric for the local mart. 100% cotton. Front of the bib with [mention]AradunFF [/mention] measurements. I folded it in half after I marked it out to make the cuts. I have the front and back matched up. Front and back again. Sewing the sides together first. Sides are sewn on! So cool! Now I am attaching my neck seal. Again, this is the same seal previously made. I literally ripped the old fabric off (a cut up t shirt) and pinned it to the new bib.
