In the meantime, I have read up on the build threads in here. Lot's of good info. I started to order items that I've gathered from the build threads and the CRL. I am making everything myself so I plan on documenting all parts of the build completely. (I'm super excited!) Currently I have received 1 Pair of Lugs work boots 2 yards of Marine White Vinyl 3 yards of 10oz Bull Denim in white (for cummerbund, belt, boxes and front flap) 1 Pair of Milwaukee Leather Men's Gauntlet Gloves Tandy Line 24 snaps 10 yds 3/4in Wide Black Elastic band (Knee and elbow) 10 yds 1in Wide Black Elastic band (shoulder bells) 1 in Plastic Buckles 5 yards 1 in White Cotton Webbing (Getting delivered this week) I need to dig around for a tutorial on making the boots. For everything I can see they look similar. The only difference I am guessing front (dog bone) overlapping part. Lastly, I did decide to dig into, for the first time ever, in trying to model the correct blaster for this kit in of all things Tinkercad. Lot's of screen caps from Disney Plus but honestly "The Art of the animated Star Wars Rebels Nook" has two shots of the blaster that put it in an all new light! We will see how that one goes. I did do some low res prints for sizing to my hand. Here is a pic with my gloves on. I have ordered the Kingshow Water Resistant Premium Work Boots from amazon and should be getting them in next week. The two tone sole wasn't going to work. I don’t have any of the armor yet so I will most likely have to rescale it when the time comes to fit it to the holster. I took as many references as I could from show stills and the book. My TK boots had been purchased from a vendor and my Tusken boots were just wrapping some left over fabric around some rain boots. These things, made me nervous. I am following cheesewhoppy (now I am hungry) tutorial. Seems to have been reference in another build lately and it’s pinned so it’s got to be good right?!Stretching and heating and stretching and heating and pinning (which I am not feeling like I have enough tacks). I scrounged around and found some more. But just like his tutorial, once I got them smooth. I let them sit for 15-20 mins and then applied a thick layer of E6000!I cut a 1/2in strip and CA glued it around the edge! I can’t believe how amazing these came out! Let’s do this! Come on #2, it’s your turn. Pretty stinking smooth.I got a little wrinkle in the front of the second one but overall for my first attempt at ever making these I am pretty impressed with myself! Zv288bot Posted July 10, 2021 Author Share Posted July 10, 2021 So I got the vinyl cut for the tube portion of my boots! Got my two squares cut from taking the measurements.I added a line one inch down but then a second one inch from that one so I had a line to match up the top fold to.Based off of my boot measurement. This is for the opening.Here goes nothing! I did switch the needle on this sewing machine to a needle used for leather. Not sure if it would have mattered but I did. No issues.Happy Dance! It really looks like a biker scout boot!?!Got the pair done tonight. I sewed it to the size Stephanie mentioned in her build thread. 1 and 3/4 inches wide. I cut enough material to fold it on itself so it’s 4 layers thick. Slow and steady… Not to shabby for my first ever attempt at making a belt as well. (Honestly I usually will have my wife sew these things for me) On to the pouches! No straps which is why I am going to go with round two unless I just sew the straps to the back of the pouch and not in line. Guess it wouldn’t matter, it’s not like they are seen? I think I want to switch it where the seam on the sides is in the back. That way I can sew the straps on the back and then sew them in and up. I’m gonna pause and think about it some more. I measure from pecks to belt area. Took the widest circumference and based everything off of that. Zv288bot Posted July 23, 2021 Author Share Posted July 23, 2021 Ok so things I learned.1.) when you think you put enough stuffing in, add another layer2.) do sew the cummerbund completely on all four sides before stitching the vertical line because it will bunch up and needs room for movement.Added some Velcro. I believe it’s 2 inch.So I should have sewed the Velcro on last. I traveled around locally to some fabric stores and couldn’t find one. Online search for the machine I have brought me to this guy! Looks promising, I’ll do it.The issue with that guy is it has the same distance as the presser foot. So when you try and roll some quilted material under it it becomes a hot mess. Zv288bot Posted July 23, 2021 Author Share Posted July 23, 2021 So I took some fabric chalk, found the center and marked out 1 1/2 in marks across the top and bottom. I will connect them together and hopefully be able to follow the line. I also marked the inside so if the chalk proved difficult to get out at least it wouldn’t be seen. And here it is with the belt pinned in place.
