  1. Unfortunately I cant speak to the sizing. But I will tell you it is way easier to make these boots then it seems. I would seriously consider making your own. $50 pair of boots and about $20 for the marine vinyl is hard to beat. There are tons of build threads and people to help. Something to consider
  2. A decal is definitely cleaner. Also easy to fix and or replace if needed
  3. Studio Creations sells a super easy to build kit. Definitely a great and affordable kit you can build yourself. But I believe they may also sell them completed
  4. Studio creations kit is awesome. Kit basically comes ready to go with very little work on your end compared to any other kit. Also, post up pics of the things you have already so we can help insure their accuracy. Welcome to the forest! Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  5. Ah gotcha. Thanks Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  6. Sorry need clarification. What trapezoid are you talking about? Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  7. I want to say there are one or two here. But if you go to whitearmor (forum for Stormtroopers) there are tons. Also, if you search youtube I know I have found a few Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  8. Havent tried to be honest. Been working on a ton of other costumes to get those finished first. Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  9. Approved! TB 21523 reporting in! no tree crashes to report!
  10. Yeah see. I commented back in July and never got a response. Hopefully he responds to you
  11. Lol, love how things go sometimes. Well, it's done. Submitted today for approval. Let me know if you see anything that stands out for basic approval. May go lancer later on but not sure. Thanks all and can't wait to be officially a tree hugger.
  12. Oh yeah definitely. Keep a "feel" on it. You will know when its good. Take your time, pull and tack. Pull and tack. I had to readjust several times but its worth it Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  13. Thats possible. You need the vinyl to be super malleable, so the hotter the better. Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  14. Like this. Lots of heat. Lots of pull. Lots of pins Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  15. Heat is the only advice. You need to heat it like crazy and use like 30 pins. It looks like you only used 5. Heat, pull, pin. And repeat till its smooth Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  16. Yeah but they would be standard across the board. If it came down to a "we need to verify" something then the GML could step in and confirm for the detachments. But even then "having someone local" doesnt mean anything. We have 7 squads and 4 GML, and 2 are in the same squad. So how local is local really? The GML would still handle the DB stuff and as a new member you would submit your approval to the GML. So i would submit to the Detachment, get approved, and then turn around and push that to the GML for DB update. Sometimes we GML have no idea about a costume and still have to turn to the Detachment, so it would just cut the middle man and let the Detachment handle upfront. I love my team and we are good, but it does make it hard when a costume that doesnt look good gets approved, and then one of our applicants uses that as a "well look this got approved there so it should get approved here" Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  17. Something I have been hearing come up more and more is why dont we just turn over approvals to the Detachment instead of the GML. Maybe change this up, and the "pre-approvals" go through the GML and the the Detachment does official approval??? The Detachment has the specialized interest in the costume and the expertise. 18. To answer one of your questions, they keep selling because we keep buying and approving these costumes. If we denied them due to the inaccurate nature of the part, it would force the prop maker to either retool his stuff or stop selling. But as long as we are still approving their stuff, they are gonna spend the money, time, or energy into making their stuff more accurate Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  19. Agreed Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
  20. Ok, so I havent added the strap to the thighs yet lol. I havent even closed up the flightsuit. I have been putting it off and IDK why. But good news is, I got my chest, back, and belt parts in from SC. I didnt like the stress that was being put on the parts for 3d print and so ordered from SC. Will hopefully paint them this week, and will have all 3 scouts done by the end of September.
  21. Looks great so far. I went the other way and started putting fiberglass resin on the outside for added strength and smoothness. For the spatter, in my opinion, its a bad can of paint. there isnt really a way to break it up as I have had this happen a few times and the paint had already started solidifying within the can. I would try and return it for a replacement if possible. But keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress!
  22. Also, any way you would be willing to share the files for the blaster? that would be great having a blaster that we know fits the WTF boot holster
  23. Great build thread. I will be following this once my WtF Scout gets here. I really wish Walt would redo the helmet build and take out having to put two halves together. Thats the biggest pain in the rear.
  24. The thigh straps will be added today when I sew the side seams closed. Just gotta figure out exactly where to put them and then will pop the stitch in that area and slide them in.
  25. Ok yall. Thoughts? I was able to get this done last night. Big thanks to everyone that had something to say, and big thank you to @Aradunwho's pattern I based mine off of and showing me "hey dummy draw what you want on the suit then transfer it over" in his thread. I did mess up but its an easy fix when I forgot to put the leg straps on. So for this process, I had seam ripped the outside of the leg as that was the "simple seam" and I will also be tapering it. The inside seam was a double stitched with an overlock so didnt wanna cut that loose. The other big difference is that the four patches are sewn together, then sewn to the suit. There are two support stitches in the crouch to keep the patch from falling away from the suit. Hope you all approve. Oh and also got the mud flap on. I feel like it may be a little short, but looking at it here, I feel like it matches reference pics. Again any input is appreciated. I will be sewing up the outside of the legs and tapering the arms today for the fitted look.
