well since everyone is spitting fireballs ill chip in some too. Awesome Helmet! I love the way your belt straps look all used. The knee caps look like they are lazy. maybe you could stick em up higher and inward so they won't look like they are trying to get away from eachother. (velcro to undersuit?) The pouches green filling is showing. that's not good.

sweet! The colour difference in the holster and boots is driving me nuts. Probably because there's nothing else to complain about!
-
It's all looking very good so far! Did you use the "visor glass" that comes with it? i hear it's really difficult to see through the SC visor. I'm wondering how you attached (on the inside) the straps going down the front of the belt towards the hip boxes. I have seen several ways and still not sure how to attach those beltstraps

Any chance you could post or find a picture of those desert scouts? I cannot find anything.
-
Oh yes, i can see the side doesn't match entirely, but the dome seems to fit properly, was that alot of work? Overall the helmet looks ace already. Good luck with the rest!

ah yeah good eye! The picture is misleading, but you are right. the top is thin, but it comes so close to the camera it seems bigger, like a big nose pressing into the cam.. Right now the top strap is 15mm (0.7") instead of lancer = 12mm (0.5") the bottom one is 1inch wide instead of lancer = 5/8". (i bought the wrong sizes and thought 'meh let's see what happens'.

Havrix' pre-clearance pictures for basic approval
Digger replied to Havrix's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
You know how sometimes you see something that you cannot unsee? I doubt this will have any effect on approval really. I wish my gear looked as good as this. -
Not the wrong piece. Standard nose greeblie from SC is all Black. Paint grey you must.

I'm too drunk to do anything on my suit so instead i'l talk about pinning, because i heard some stories about people losing small bits and needing a new one. Well i don't want that to happen. I have some experience with scale miniatures, painting little knights, orcs and such and learned to pin the more fragile bits. The idea is easy: When you glue two surfaces, the glue is usually the most fragile part of the structure. adding a pin adds alot of strength to the glued connection. So we strengthen the weakest part. needed: 1. a small nail to use as pin. the ones i have are 1mm wide nails, you can get about 100 for $1 at a hardware store, home depot, or Do-It-Yourself store 2. a small drill or dremel drill bit of the same size as the nails to use. (i use an electrical Tamiya), but the normal hand drills are cheaper and just as good. . Dremels come with drill bits, but they tend to be 2 - 3mm and up. find smaller drill bits for this. The drill has to make a hole the same size as the nails (1mm in my case). I got it at a local hobbystore, but sites like amazon and ebay have them in plenty. 3. wire cutter, if you wish to cut part of the nail off. For the thermal detonator greeblies Attach the greeblie in place if it is not already glued on, you could stick it with tape like here. Drill a hole in the back through both the TD and halfway the greebly's thickness. (make sure you drill into the thickest part of the greeblie, because you do not want to drill all the way through) fit the nail into the hole. if the nail goes all the way in then the cap should stop it from going all the way in. If the nail is too long you can cut a bit off the tip with wirecutter. This is best if you can't drill any deeper. Remeber not to go all the way through the greeblie. Anyway.. when you are satisfied the nail and the hole are good fit, then you can start glueing. add glue to the greebly if it hasn't been glued yet. Dip the nail into the same glue then put it into the hole: Put the greeblie in place and behold your masterpiece. You can add more pins ofcourse, but i think one nail per greeblie will do alot already. Next time you crash into a tree, your greeblies will be just fine.

Question: The tank top from SC has the little round button greebly melded in the whole thing, but in Pandatrooper's thread he cut the button out so it could be repositioned (it needs to shift a bit to the left so there's opening on both sides). here's Pandatroopers WiP photo: Here's how my tank top looks right now: How does one go ahead and cut that button out? what tool can i use for that? This seems pretty tough... Thanks for any input!

Looking good! 1. I think the upper arm armors are on the wrong arm , the little circles (on the big black square) should be closest towards the front side. 2. the chest and back armors have sharp corners below the armpits. You could sand it with some sandpaper to make those corners a bit round. Just a little bit. They're slightly rounded in the movies and sharp corners can get stuck and break armor. 3. Are you sure those pouches are attached well enough? there's some threads showing that makes me i wonder if they will survive a day out trooping. Tank top is not visible on pictures, Helmet seems very nice, hard to tell. (I'm no expert)

Where / how did you get the black belt clips for the TD?
-
First time using the heatgun and it didn't work out too well. One of these bits was deformed, but after a few days i made that almost invisible. One of them has been cut at the edges and one has not (yet). KNEES: Quite happy how they turned out. They fit nice. I read that people use velcro to stick these babies to the undersuit at knee level. I'l do that too. What's the best place to put the velcro in the kneecap?

as above yes. i want to stress that pictures that seem irrelevant now (because you're not there yet), store them in a folder. I am in the middle of building and spending alot of time trying to re-find certain "how-to" or "where-to" pictures. Here are the Screenshots of the movies. Might be usefull later if you want a closer look of the screen used suits.

It's been quiet here a while, but, any news on how this went or tips on how to fix this?
-
I had a problem with the knee rivet yesterday aswell. Apparently the rivet was too small for a folded elastic+washer+kneecap. The washer sprang out in the last second so i have a rivet stuck holding nothing. If the rivet is stuck you could cut off the broken piece using a strong wirecutter and then drill the rivet out Is that the normal elastic band? looks like it is reflecting light.

what kind of padding is inside your flak sleeves?
-
Ouch.. Are all cracks on the pistolholder? if so there might be something to fight it. The legpiece may have to do too much heavy lifting from a heavy pistol and/or alot of jumping. extra stability in the boot's inner structure could fix it. i think i saw somewhere a thread about strengthening the structure... -edit- this might release pressure from the holsterpiece http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18003&hl=%2Bkeep+%2Bboot+%2Bfrom&fromsearch=1

So there should be a small gap between the hard belt and the detonator's end, showing roughly 1 to 2inch belt strap.

Alrighty, after trying to cough out my own lungs and failing, i have decided to stop being ill and getting some stuff done. i've decided to take the forum's hand and let these threads be my guide. Special thanks to Strider's Pandatrooper's and Spike's actually everyone who posted in the past months aswell. This is an SC. Yes i am that thin. luckily i found pandatrooper's tutorial on cutting this part shorter. I tried adjusting the corners of pauldrons using a heatgun and failed already, which i expected. I have two left hands sometimes., not gonna post pictures i want to fix it first xD what bothers me here is this The whole chest and back armor have returnedges on screen and well... the SC kit one does not. although i have to add most pieces do have return edges, glad about that I really want to do this so i am ordering a Sealing Iron from the UK. Apparently in Holland those things are more rare than dinosaurs. Even my neighbour, who actually IS a dinosaur in remote controlled speedboat contests, he says nobody uses that sort of stuff around here. and then he advised some stuff so hopeless i dont even remember what it was. maybe he said use a heatgun i really dont remember.. If you do return edges though. How do you do that in the strap slits? That seems near impossible

Rebels - Biker Scout Reference Pictures

I got some more, The padding inside is pretty cool Are the back and front armor connected by an extra strip of armor or is that just the way they draw the cotton connection strips? -
This is it.. My BBB day has come! AAAAH! After all the BBB topics i've gone through, my mind pictured a HUGE box that would barely fit in the mailtruck. this baby is just 14 inches deep, and everything actually fits inside. But after considering renaming it Small Brown Box... what is inside is actually very daunting (and it took a Big Bite out of Bankaccount anyhow.) Soft parts are still a long way from being anywhere, until i find the leather for the suit and boots. In the meantime. let's have a look at the ABS plastics SC has sent all the way across the pond.

I think it is a beauty. I don't know if it is already sealed, but i'd suggest a nonpermanent way of sealing it, maybe even just velcro to keep it shut. Who knows what the future brings. -

You forgot you had a thermal detonator baking in the oven?
