  1. I think I am going to pick this up today. To turn it into a carbine.I still have my real scope from my BB gun I may use. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=102477966&skuid=24460885 I am also going t grab this one so I can take the sound out and put it in my carbine. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=83311916&cp=&parentPage=search Thoughts?
  2. Thanks for the words. I will be honest. With me working on this and other life changes I have going on. I am really pumped and motivated. (yes I know they mean the same thing LOL). To get this done... I think it's going to look 1000 X better than when I first joined the Legion.
  3. Thanks for the response. I am very relived to hear and see that. I think all of my armor is SC, I just think who ever had it before me didn't take care of it. He double riveted the web belt to the end. So I had to take that little bit off so I can have just the one rivet. I have everything taken apart. I am going to clean, sand and straighten as much as I can..Like I said in my other posts. (wow I have posted a lot in the last few days LOL). I know I wont be able to apply for lancer but it's going to look good.
  4. I have had this belt for some time and I finally want to get the correct size straps. I grabbed a piece of scrap 1.5 wide nylon and discovered that the current slots are not wide enough to accommodate the strap. Do I just have to widen the slot? *edit* I I just realized I am holding 2" wide strapping. But you can still see it's not wide enough.
  5. Got it. The loose ends of the drop straps are riveted to the belt. Correct? Any particular color. Like I said before I got everything pretty much second hand, which was good enough back then. Now I am just trying to get it up to current standards. The TD is connected to the web part of the belt in the back with the two metal clips. I see the ones I want to order at theclip.com. I am just not sure how to connect them to my TD. Again thank you for all of the help. I am hoping to have all of this done by SW weekends at Lego Land.
  6. how are these connected to the TD tube?
  7. ahhh I get it, I sew a piece of Velcro to each end, Then with some self adhesive velcro on the inside of the armor...
  8. Thanks so much for the response. That is exactly what I needed to know. Not going for lancer (at this time anyway) But any small mods I can do that can get me that much closer I will do. One more question for the underarm straps is there any clips underneath? Or do you simply role the end of the strap with a little bit of fabritac so it cant pull through the armor slit?
  9. Two quick questions. according to the 501st databank. It says to use textile material. Is it talking about using cotton webbing again? and second how wide are the straps for the drop boxes and the part that connects the belt in the back?
  10. So when I got my armor second hand many,MANY, moons ago. I think white nylon for the drop boxes and the connections from front to back were still ok for basic legion membership. I know that has changed. The shoulder straps are made out of white cotton webbing. The (scout trooper data bank dose not indicate how wide it should be) However are they webbing straps exposed? Or is there a slip cover to to give the illusion of a solid piece? To connect the under arm sections it says you can use white cotton webbing 1.5" wide or elastic. Is there a preference in the Lancer community? With said straps to you connect them together with any kind of clip(under the armor) or are they just short enough to keep the back and chest armor closed around your torso? For the drop boxes the TB data bank says to use white white textile straps.(I am not sure what is ment by this. (white cotton webbing?) also what should be the width? Thank you for your help.
  11. Thanks for answering my questions. I know it's a lot. I have been scouring all of our boards and just getting all the info I can. I want this to look great for SDCC. Like I said I may not be able to go Lancer (YET!). But it WILL look better than what I have now... Max's, they are doing my vest only. I am doing everything else here.. The cummerbund is just straight sewing that my mother in law can help me with. The patches for the suit, Max did say they can do that. But I am on a budget. I would rather spend that particular bit of money on the vest it's self. (Less room for error if it's somebody who makes them all the time. ) My mother in law can do clothes but nothing like this before. The bund and suede flap I don't think will be to much of a problem. The riding patches..... I will burn that bridge when I get to it... But until I get my actual vest. I think I am in a holding pattern. I can work on the suit.. (taking off the pockets and such). As long as I am done before SDCC this year I will be happy..
  12. I have been in the 501st for several years. My first set of armor I bought second hand, and it was enough to get me in for the standards at the time. Now I want to upgrade all of my soft armor so I am starting from scratch. The Flak vest I am going to have done at Max's Sci-Fi creation shop (through facebook) The rest I am going to do at home. First I will tell you the supplies I have picked up so far. Please let me know if I am missing anything. 1. Black pig skin suede split. ( butt flap and riding patches) 2 2.5 yards white duck cloth (cummerbund and crotch piece) 3. Nylon Batting for cummerbund 4. 2" wide elastic (black) 5 2" wide white velcro 6. Red Kap coveralls So like I said my first set was second hand so I am not really sure how everything should fit. Also keep in mind. As much as I would LOVE to go for Lancer status. The actual armor part will not pass muster. Like I said I got it all second hand and I think the person who was working on it before me, did a few things to it that cant be changed. (without damaging the armor) Now on to the questions. 1. Should the cummerbund sit just under the bottom edge of the chest armor? If so how far down does it go to? My waist (where you would normally wear a belt?) or down to my hips. 2. The cod piece. It looks like it's is sewn to the vest. (Just at the base) is this something that can be connected by velcro or snaps? (For washing purposes). 3. Can velcro or snaps be used on the suit and on the backside of the bund to secure it in place? 4. I have read some people connect the cummerbund to the vest. But it looks like you know longer do that. Due to the fact that the cod connects to the vest.. Is there any over lap of the vest and the cummerbund? 4a. The cummerbund. When sewn together can it be folder over for the fold to be an edge or should it be actually two separate pieces. Then sewn along all 4 edges? 4b. Is the length of the cummerbund different from top to botom? I though it was pretty much just a tube you put on.. 5.The suede flap. It looks like it is only sewn on one side . (The part that connects it to the suit.) Again, can it be attached with velcro (Cant use snaps on this one, it will show)? 6. are the the edges folder over for the flap? (for a clean edge). Or is the natural edge exposed. 7. The riding patches, are they one big patch for the thighs? Or two individual patches connected together at the top? Also do they just cover the front half and rear half of the thigh. This is all I can think of now.. I hope all of my questions make since. ( I am typing this up using my phone) . Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. This is so bought..
  14. I did the same thing with my cummerbund. I actually have it zipped up the back by the flap with the Velcro hides it...
  15. I will have to give this a shot...
