Pathfinders Virtual Armor Party 7 March 2021 (w/ Video)
Lucasfan7 replied to MrPoopie's topic in Announcements
This is awesome, I will do my best to be involved in this, I’m sure there is a wealth of knowledge TK be learned. I also would love to actually meet or see people on here. I think the idea to record it is amazing cause some of us also might want to refer back to it for notes or whatnot. Thanks for doing this -
Thanks for the honesty brotha, and it wasn’t all for waste. We have all got to see some experience with this situation now so we have an idea of what goes Into it if we ever have to do it:)

Sorry for the late response man. Yeah it has always been like that but I have been clicking on the drop box links for the pics and can finally see your build pics. It looks really great brotha. That holster is very creative, I’m about to get working on my boots and holster again and You have inspired me to over think my set up:) lol

I recently scoured this detachments threads for knowledge on a lot of the things you are looking for and you don’t have to dig very deep to find what you need. Chopper is correct about the set back due to covid and just a heads up that RS prop masters are set back due to a fire that happened in there workshop. Wampa wear and crow props had a crazy fast turn around though.

Does anyone have an idea why I can’t view the pics on this thread? :(

Let us know how it goes and post some pics if you get a chance, I would like to see the outcome:)

Looking good brotha

Well I finally got the seams on the holster looking just the way I wanted. I did 3 light layers to build up the material in the seams. I gave it a day in between to firm up before adding the next layer and it worked out great. The shade of white is slightly off so I plan to just blend it while weathering by dusting it with the air brush. Hopefully it turns out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Thanks man, yeah I want it to have a uniform look.

So we got an email from RS prop master and they had a fire in their building. They said everyone is safe but all orders were pushed back 4 weeks because of the mishap. I have a pretty long wait time fir my soft goods as well considering I re-ordered everything through two different makers so the extra wait time on the helmet will probably make it all come around the same time. It will push back me weathering my armor though because I was waiting to see how the helmet turned out to decide on how I was going to proceed on weathering, but this is just a little speed bump and it will all get done in due time.
-
Keep up the great work, I got a lot of respect for you guys out there making your own soft goods.

This is an awesome tip

I think it was suggested to use this stuff on the top seam of the SC helmet back in 2014 era. It allowed you to not have to repaint it, so I figured I would try it on this.

I had some issues with the original 3M double sided tape sticking properly to the zip tie holders, so I ended up cleaning it off and starting fresh with e-6000, I’m so thankful I did because it is so much cleaner looking and a whole lot stronger. I also finally got around to filling the seams on my holster to make it look somewhat how the original looked. I know they didn’t use bath silicone, lol, but I have used this stuff before on similar projects and it works great. Plus it is paintable so weathering is a snap. I have to go back over with a second application but you can start to see how it will turn out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Congratulations brother, you look great.

Thanks brotha

Awesome, thank you

Ok cool, thank you. Is there a certain brand you prefer?

I think you are right on the toe strip, which might be a good thing since the main reason I wanted to buy boots like this was for the durability. The boots are for sure durable. That glue he uses is strong. I’m going to save the toe for last and hope cleaning up the rest of the boot settles my OCD. In the first few pictures I posted you can see me wearing them and it’s overlapping. My wife and i were messing with the Velcro in the back of the boot and realized that if it’s tighter on the heel then the overall look improves and the baggie look cleans up so we are going to work on that. is barge cement stronger than shoe goo? I’m not too familiar with it
-
Yeah it’s just a pit too much on the heel, it’s not a deal breaker. I’m going to save that part for last cause It might not bother me too much once the rest of it is cleaned up

Here is the baggy heel and bigger looking strap in the front, it’s mainly the heel that bugs me though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Here I’m pointing to the loose bone and in the last picture I am holding it down as if it was glued Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

So my crow props boots came in and I’m beyond pumped. I love the way they are assembled, how they fit my foot and especially the soles. I think there is room for modification though, or maybe it’s just my OCD but tell me what you think. 1-The bone that goes over the bridge is really loose so it flaps out which I don’t think is necessary since you can still get your feet in and out of the boot if it was glued down like I believe the originals were so I am thinking of just running some shoe goo under the bone are it contacts the boot to keep it flat. I feel like that alone completely improves the overall look. 2-I also plan to remove the strap on the Inside because I have a different method I used on my last pair that I plan to do again and these fit so snug on my calf that the extra strap material was causing it to fit really tight. 3-I’m not 100% on this but there seems to be material at the heel section of the boot that goes about 1/4” too low and makes it look baggy. In the MOTM pics it looks like there is quite a bit less because it pulls up higher than there do when bent. 4-I’m having a similar problem with the material strap on the toe, it looks like there is just a bit too much material, it covers up half of the sole and in my opinion, that’s the coolest part of these boots. I will post some pics in a min that shows the area I’m talking about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
