I use Dritz hammer-on snaps. Made snap plates and used them instead of Velcro for my knees, forearms, and biceps, as well as side straps on my TIE armor.

That's Lou's snout on a KS. They're the bomb.
-
It refers to patches and flap for "highest standard" messing Lancer, but those mods are all required for basic clearance.
-
The WW suit still needs all the mods except collar flap. It's sort of a "universal" black flight suit. They say "biker scout" but it's actually missing the riding patch, mud flap and thigh elastic. The Redkap shipped or the mechanic suit you posted are still a better deal, honestly.

Well done, Brother!

It looks pretty good! With the applicable mods I think it would work, but one concern is that it looks like the logos are embroidered vs. patches. The sleeve one would be covered, but the neck closure and back ones might be difficult to discreetly remove. The flared out shoulders (sorry, I don't know the term for this) would be covered by the vest. The cuffs would be inside the gloves, so no issue there. Looks like it would be relatively form fitting too. If you could figure a way to get that embroidered logo off, I think it would be a good suit.

Texas Steer. They will serve you well. Nice for a base boot. Soles are fairly easy to cut up. And they're light. I would recommend a comfier insole if you have a parade or a long troop though. Keep us posted!

It may depend on your GML, but the KS has been approved as is. It did have some pretty obvious issues though (snout greeblie, visor bolts, decals). I've heard tell that they have upgraded the snout though. Before you start pulling stuff off, throw up a couple pictures. You might be ok for basic clearance, but would probably need to change a couple for Lancer if you're considering that route.

I used a RedKap, and it was pretty easy even for a novice like myself to make the necessary adjustments (removing/stitching closed pockets, adding collar flap, adding riding patches/mud flap/thigh bands). I also took in the legs, arms, waist, and rear to make it a bit more form fitting. I looked at the speedway suit, but at the time they were showing as discontinued. I know a few troopers have used it, and it doesn't look like requires a ton of work. All of the aforementioned, plus removing the patches. I don't think the white cuffs are an issue since they'll be inside yr gloves. I wear nomex for work and I don't think it would be any hotter than a regular coverall.

I'm a huge proponent of modding coveralls to spec. Even if you don't have sewing skills, a pair of coveralls and paying for alterations will be less expensive than than the pre made flight suits that you'll still have to mod anyway.

Our man Chef makes laser cut clips that will meet Lancer spec. He has a thread on the trade forum. Clips ARE REQUIRED for Lancer. From the Lancer Standard: - The TD box must be secured by one single black tie wrap, to the tubing as seen above. The TD box and tubing is then secured to the belt however a trooper wishes, the main belt is then closed/secured using a velcro over lap much like a TK, with two black twin armed brackets holding each end of the tube to the belt (close to see whats on screen). With a 50mm (2") white cotton or nylon belt secured each end of the hard belt with a single silver rivet. Blinking lights or LED's on the belt canister box are not acceptable.

Here's a great write up on the LW. for a fan sculpt, it just Damn near nailed it. And the general consensus is that it's a robust, troop-worthy lid. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/fanmade_scout_trooper_helmets.htm

They're not known for their great communication, but they are definitely not shady.

I think in general the bells are smaller than our mind's eye sees them. You really notice the difference when you see "stock" bells (minus the angle and rounded corner) next to shaped bells. Even on broad shoulders a lot of bells look too big to me...

Mickey beat me to it Just happened to have my belt handy, so here's a quick pic:

E6000. Long cure time, but gives you plenty of room for adjustment before it sets up, and super easy clean up. I recently found that it comes in black and white as well as clear. Used the black on my TIE pilot. Just make sure to follow the directions: apply to both pieces to be joined, let it tack up, and clamp for 24 hours. Resist the urge to "check it". A light scuff sanding before you put the glue on gives the pieces some tooth and will result in a better bond.

You might be able to get them ala carte from SC. Also, I believe Don Jarr sells det greebs. I've seen some 3D printer files floating around the web as well. -
LW and RS side by side comparsion
stasz replied to Darth Chridan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
John absolutely knocked it out of the park on his sculpt. They're both gorgeous helmets. Thanks for taking the time to set up the side-by-side! I'm always surprised how much the helmet "moves" when viewed from different angels. Different contours and details pop out... One of the reasons it's my favorite -
Constructive Criticism to help with details on sole cuts
stasz replied to Swift234's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I have the same base boots. "Texas Steer" is the name, but they may have regional branding as I've seen some troopers use the exact same boots from Kmart, but with a different name. It seems like it's always a southwest, rancher type name though. -
Correct. It's amplification with the very slight natural distortion that comes with it. No static burst like TKs, or any alteration. To me, it adds to the "reality" of the costume. People always get a kick out of it.
