When I first ordered my RedKap I went a size up per the suggestions/comments on Amazon. I ended up taking it in significantly - diaper butt - bit also took in the arms, legs, etc. Being coveralls, they're going to be baggy. I ordered another Redkap for the TIE pilot I'm currently working on, and ordered to my proper size and was very pleased with the fit (though the pilots aren't as "fitted" as scouts... A bit baggier). If the SwC comes out well, it's always nice to have another option! WW makes wonderful stuff, but as has been said, it's very expensive to still have to substantially mod. To me, for the price it should be good to go.

Looks like you hit all the notes, mate!

I can't remember if I found it here on bs.n or just online somewhere...

I do have a .pdf for a Rubies. Very thorough with materials list, etc. Might be helpful. If you want to pm me your email I can send it to ya.

A kit is going to run anywhere from $150-$300. There are also built lids available around the $320+ mark. Bear in mind exchange rates and shipping with overseas makers. If you're keen to do a kit, they're great fun to build. The DP can definitely be made troopable with work. I think I have a .pdf tutorial on modding. I'll check and post back.

I've recently seen this one pop up on Etsy as well. There's definitely something off about it. The shape of the snout, the visor... I'd stick with one of the proven makers we know and love. That being said, the guy who made this eBay one - with some work - could end up making a very nice bucket. There aren't a lot of options for folks who want that "real helmet" feeling fiberglass heft.
-
Are you thinking about using this with a scout costume? Only reason I ask is that I don't really think wireless would be advantageous. In fact, it would give you more to have to carry (speaker, transmitter AND receiver). I've seen guys use these on TIE pilots, whose buckets are considerably roomier though. For me, a headworn mic with a short cable concealed by my neck closure and vest sneaks right into the Aker in my right pouch. No frills

If you're willing to share, I'd be curious what the critiques were from your GML. "Picky" GMLs are definitely NOT a bad thing. We do represent the Glorious Empire after all

You could probably turn your shoulder bells toward your front just a touch. This is one of those things you'll tweak every time you suit up. They're more to your back in the pictures. And although it's not required, slightly shaping the bells and rounding the corners on the bells looks really sharp! Check out Panda's build for a reference if you're interested in doing that: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9781 Great looking Scout, though. Well done!

Yes!!! Let me know if I can be of assistance, Zack. GLG TBs out front!

Boots look great! Could you share the color/type of paint you used on the soles? It seems some folks have a hard time finding solid color soles and this info would come in handy! And definitely keep us posted on the WTF kit! I got my TIE armor from him and it's pretty great. I'm really looking forward to seeing his Scout
-
One problem you might run into is that the sole needs to be one color. It looks like yours are darker Brown around the top. Folks do successfully paint soles to one color (tan or "gum" colored). The construction itself looks good though. Nice job!

The "push 'n pop" method works great. Looking good, bud!

Nice job! Looks great, man. You could bring the pouches in a hair, closer to the vertical stitching on the bund, but damn. That is a legit Scout!

"Lancer Spec" Hahahahahaha! ...sheesh.

Advice for Sewing suede onto the jumpsuit
stasz replied to TheScouterSays's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
I initially used an adhesive iron on called (I think) ultra bond. After asking around, it became apparent this would not be sufficient to hold up for troops but it did secure the patches to the suit wonderfully for stitching them on. No pins in the way, no shifting... Ended up working out really well. -
The file is too big (24mb) to email, but I found the link on the Legion forum: http://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=28538&hilit=Soundscapes There's an Endor sound effects loop and a TB loop if you scroll down a little further on the first post.

Slick! I used foam board on mine, but 10 months in they're getting a little bashed up. I might try that. Thanks, man!
-
Looking Sharp! I agree, boxes and biceps up just a tad. Just curious: What are you using inside the pouches?
-
I have an .mp3 downloaded to my phone that's Endor sounds with some chatter on a loop. I got it from the Legion boards but I don't have the link. If you want I can email it to ya.

Looks great! It's not required, but I love the way the shoulder bells look when the bottom corners are tapered and rounded a la Panda Trooper's build. But that's me Nicely done. Should have your numbers in no time.

Like Mickey says, it's really pretty easy. I put mine on inside out, gathered the excess material and pinned it up closer to my body where it was more form fitting. Took it off (carefully - Don't want to get stabbed)!) Ran stitches down the "New" seam and cut off the excess. I did this on my sleeves too as they were really bunchy once the armor's elastic was snugging everything up. It's definitely worth doing. Goes a long way towards the quality of the overall look.
-
I almost always wear it. It's barely a crop-top. If it's a Canon event, then there's no question. But if it's 92 degrees and there's 30 kids making foam light sabers with me, I might leave it off Honestly, it feels weird without it. It's definitely (and factually) part of the costume.
-
Craig, you're doing a really nice job I think the boots were my favorite part. Don't fear the boot!
-
Though, for me I think my T straps are a little farther back, and I put the shoulder bells a little more forward to compensate overall. It does make a difference if I wear the vest or not. (Don't tell. Sometimes, in July at a library, I might not wear it).
