  1. Edited the main post to add some photos
  2. I used 1/8 rivets everywhere.
  3. Seeing some stitching is fine. It's very hard to see against the black suede anyway https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5bU7TNBGsXOekVkamk2VG5temc
  4. Send me pics when you got 'em Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
  5. as was intended
  6. Welcome to the party, pal!
  7. No. Even if you aren't going for Lancer (and why not??), the boots still need to bear some resemblance to the screen used ones. So, wheat colored soles, single color, with some tread. They aren't too hard to find and not all that expensive
  8. If you've already gotten your Scout approved, go ahead and request Pathfinder status: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showforum=13 As for photos, I would use a 3rd party site to host them. The Gallery really isn't the best place. We have limited bandwidth and the pics generally come out tiny. I use this one: https://postimages.org/
  9. Welcome to the Squad buddy!
  10. Congrats! Welcome to the Squad
  11. Dremel has become the generic term for a rotary tool. Kind of like Kleenex for tissue. Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
  12. As Tim said, Redkap is love/hate. It's cheap, easy to get and very hardy. But it doesn't breathe well. The cotton/polyester blend is very heavy. And you should order the Tall so you can get more room in the torso. The double zipper is also a huge bonus. According to the Costumes book, the screen scouts used a modified Avirex flight suit. I know those are pricey. And the ones available seem to have a lot of damn zipper pockets on them! So I would go cotton if you could. Loose, but not baggy. And certainly not form fitting like spandex. Color is black, not shiny. Just looking at the MOM scout and how the material wrinkles, it looks like a very light cotton: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?app=gallery&image=102
  13. I have the Dremel 200. It works fine for our purposes
  14. That belt as-is is not going to clear basic. The rivets in the front disqualify it. the belt should only have two visible rivets, one on each side, in the back to hold the nylon webbing to the plastic belt. You just need to overlap the joins and E6000 them together. It works just fine. Then you can use some caulk to fill in the seam if you wish to go for Lancer.
  15. That looks really great man. I think you are good to go
  16. It has to be concave. Try these: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=10270
  17. No don't do it. The tank is supposed to have a gap. In the film they are two distinct parts and the screen scouts' tank was attached to the back armor with an elastic strap. I have recreated that look with my own armor: In actuality, the rivets are there to connect the elastic strap to the back of the tank, they don't bond the tank and back armor together. You don't have to do yours this way. The only thing that matters is that it looks right. But do not seal the crack. That will prevent you from attaining Lancer status should you go for it.
  18. Why don't you post a WTB thread in the Trade Forum? You can contact Studio Creations if you want to buy a piece from them
  19. Whatever the thinnest pig suede you can get. You don't want to put your sewing machine through too much stress!
  20. If the jacket doesn't work out, try this: https://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/glazed-pig-lining
  21. Looks pretty good. I agree with Peter, could be a tad long.
  22. Welcome Trooper!
  23. If it's the one from RS, it bends pretty nicely. You just hot glue it on the sides, not the top. If you glue the top you may have difficulty getting the faceplate up
  24. I think your boots look good, you shouldn't have any problem with a Lancer application with those. You can thank the sender for giving you a head start on the weathering! As for the vest, this is tougher! If something doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. I've had this happen to me as well with the vest. It's always tough when you have to give measurements for something, because you are never exactly sure how it will all fit once you have all the pieces. You can try to simulate the undersuit with a heavy shirt but sometimes things still go wrong. This is a problem you run into when the soft goods are all tailor made and I wish instead some of the vendors would create their vests and bunds using the S-M-L-XL-XXL system we are all used to when it comes to buying 99% of our clothes. Maybe I'll start doing that!
