  1. Yeah what Chex said. What's the material of the blaster also?
  2. Yeah I ended up not even using mine. I went with military helmet pads.
  3. I see you found some posts. Yeah unfortunately someone finally bit the bullet on the NI lid and found that it wasn't as good as the others. I'm personally favorites to a real helmet like my MLCv3 because it's fiberglass so it actually feels like it's a real helmet. Another good suggestion is to find out what other scouts that you'll be trooping with have because it helps since all the helmets have some slight differences and you will all be trooping together. They can also assist better if they've already worked on whichever maker you choose. GOOD LUCK!
  4. Balaclava's can be found on ebay or the internet. I recommend the under armour.
  5. I have the MLCv3 and I love it. Be aware that it's not the helmet that you see as MC. I love the fiberglass style because it's an actual helmet. One time on a troop I bumped my head on the inside edge of a SWAT truck and it's protected perfectly and didn't even affect the helmet. I doubt I'd feel the same about an ABS helmet but that's going to be personal preference. Chex is totally right, try to get out and help at a troop and hopefully you'll meet a scout that you can check out. That's what I did. Good luck!
  6. Thanks for posting these photos up. Biggest thing I'm noticing is the color of the whites. I wonder how the NI would look against most of the armor that we use. MLCv3 is also a great fiberglass bucket that I've had bump into a SWAT truck roof with it on and it was like having a real helmet on. Before you put it on ebay you might want to try to see if a member wants to take a stab at the KS like these guys said, it's still salvageable.
  7. Not bad. Just a couple things I see right off and mentioned in a thread I saw earlier today. -You may need to move the ribs on the bun closer together so you can fit them between your pouches. They should all be visible. - Move your shoulder bells up a little so they fit more naturally on your shoulders. On a side note: Could you post some pictures of just that helmet (NI) we've had discussions about it for a while now and I haven't noticed anyone that picked one up yet. There are a couple threads in the "Helmet" section about it or just a new thread so we can explore it. I'm interested how it stacks up against the others. Great work
  8. On another note, what brand of boots are those?
  9. I ordered my MLC v3 straight from MLC and it is great.
  10. Yeah, try to check with fellow scouts in your garrison also but the majority will have the tabs up. As was explained to me, it's best to look as close to the scouts you'll be trooping with.
  11. They look good, real interested to see how they turn out. Thanks for jumping on them.
  12. Well done!
  13. You can also try looking at some other type stores that you may pay a little more money at. Army/Navy stores or work clothing stores. Good luck.
  14. Welcome to BSN. Give the boards a read and you'll find a huge amount of information on it that'll help you out. I recommend whitearmor.net to learn about the stormtrooper armor. Good luck on your build.
  15. Welcome!!
  16. For the top of the shoulders I created a bridge out of a "for sale" sign and then made loops out of some left over web strapping from the thigh boxes to cover and make a clean look. Have fun at the con.
  17. Not bad for con but what's connecting the front and back chest plate? Looks kinda messy up there. Do you have any decals on the helmet? Did you cut out the ear holes?
  18. Awesome! I'll take that wookiee off ya then.
  19. I love my MLC and it's worth the wait which was only about a month when I ordered it. Quick story, one troop I climbed into a SWAT vehicle for some photos and bumped my head inside on the door pretty hard. The paint only received a small ding which looks like good weathering. I'm not sure if it'd be so excited about it with an ABS helmet.
  20. I've gone with military helmet style padding that I bought off ebay. I don't really have any photos though. My bucket is fiberglass.
  21. That's very cool! What's the weight on something like that?
  22. Really interested in this thread. Good luck to you and thanks for "taking one for the team". From these pics it looks nice but since you just ordered it I'm sure they're stock photos. Can't wait for it's arrival. I was very close this time last year to ordering it myself but ended up getting ahold of MLC.
  23. My hyperfirm weighs .8 lbs.
  24. I'll take a stab. The image is inverted. If you look at the helmet the black lines on also on the wrong side. Don't take me as the final word but that's what I see wrong with this photo.
