shdwtrpr13 replied to shdwtrpr13's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
ok multiple shots I'll label them in order but...yeah I resized once and the last feels good to me. just let me know what you guys think. 1st set. IMAG0281 by shdowfire, on Flickr IMAG0282 by shdowfire, on Flickr and before you ask that is a cord to pull the armor closer into my body to help get a better feel for the size 2nd set. IMAG0283 by shdowfire, on Flickr IMAG0282 by shdowfire, on Flickr The above is shown with me wearing a flightsuit that I'll be adding the leather butt flap and saddle leather to. 3rd set. IMAG0285 by shdowfire, on Flickr IMAG0286 by shdowfire, on Flickr I look forward to what you guys think. -
Good news the helmets require no electronics unless you really want it. You should consider padding though. I'm personally going with SC once I have the rest of my armor finished. Have you contacted SC yet to ask about thirty bucket?

sizing and fitting your armor
shdwtrpr13 replied to shdwtrpr13's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Sounds like a good plan. Expect pictures soon. -
So this week I'm going to fit the armor to.my chest. What I need to know is a method to use for fitting the armor and cutting the excess shoulder straps so they butt together with little to no gap. So multiple suggestions and techniques are greatly welcome.

God that's awsome. If your planning on using your TB on your motorcycles on a regular bases then this would be the ideal armor. Then all you need is the kevlar bund. 4 stars man!
-
Ok guys I need some help here. I need to get my armor sized and fitted but I'm not sure how to...recommendation, tips, and knowledge needed.
-
Well considering these are made for work pants I'm not too concerned with the sweat factor. More so the confronted factor. Thanks for the heads up on the stores...I'm taking the build alittle slow so I don't screw up. But at the same time trying to get most of it done by Halloween.

How to: Sew a cummerbund cod piece with no "camel toe"
shdwtrpr13 replied to Pandatrooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
ahh ok now I see it. It took me some time looking over the pictures to get what you guys were saying about just under the crotch. I do have one question....how is it attatched to the bund? -

lol man you guys make me jealous with your skills. Rubber, plastic forming...To quote the Joker "where does he get all those toys of his!" -
hmm wheres a good place to get this "heavy duty" velcro?
-
this week I'm going to try and Tackle several things at once. All the arm armor, knee's and TD. Question 1: what size drill bit is recommended for the zip tie that attatch's the pipe to the mold? Question 2: Whats the best method of attatching the Elastic to the arm piece's? (I have the velcro from the SC kit but I'm just concerned that it may come loose during wear. ) Question 3: if the forarm armor pieces are too wide for my forarms should I use a heat gun and bend them into propper shape? (Noob question I know but at least its valid in my mind )

Armor Decals, paint or what?
shdwtrpr13 replied to shdwtrpr13's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
After I paint the resin black and let it dry I'm going to use modelling paint and blue tape to make the red stripe. The white dot will be a bit tricky. But GW has new paints with better pigments so I might use their white. Just need to figure if I should the the black kylon fusion in gloss or flat.... -

Love the thought that went into this. I had something of the same idea but not the use of the craft foam or the plastic. I may squeeze it down to the 2" cause of the preferred confert but like how you started the cardboard will dictate. Thanks panda your awsome and I wish you lived in VS. -
Armor Decals, paint or what?
shdwtrpr13 replied to shdwtrpr13's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
hmm just so I have the poll from your guys I know which paint to use on my. but should I use gloss of flat? -
slow progress today but thats how it should be. with packing my bags for a wedding this week and some house cleaning ( and a lack of a few tools and paints) I have the knees padds cut to fit using my handy dandy hot knife. with extra left over for my helmet if I choose. IMAG0262 by shdowfire, on Flickr IMAG0264.jpg by shdowfire, on Flickr IMAG0265 by shdowfire, on Flickr BTW: has anyone used citidal paints( model paints) for their armors detail work, i.e. the red strip and white dot?
-
thanks lol. Yeah I figured I'd pick the brains of those already experienced in this...and if I need real help I'm pulling out the interigation droids and sicking them on panda, lone and grif
-
pretty much what I'v seen is that you make the vest from a black canvous and use a thin batting for the sleaves.
-
Thank panda I was about to just mark the area on the belt and use a dremell cutting wheel but i'll try your method.
-
ok next up buy clamps. also whats the best method/tool to cut the excess tripp off your belt so you can have a clean line?
-
ok so today I'm working on my knee's sanding them out and getting them ready for straps and pads. As you can see I got Padds From DT, which I learned about from another thread. I loved the look that the finished knee armor had with these. IMAG0259 by shdowfire, on Flickr now I'v been working this over in my head for a few days this weekend while at some scottish games. which glue to use for the Greebies. I have Goop, E6000, and testors. which would be better for keeping the resin greebies attatched to the ABS of the armor? IMAG0260 by shdowfire, on Flickr

Gaga now I need to con someone in my local hobby store to make some cuts for me and I can reset the square parts higher. Yes panda is my mentor. The sensai of scout armor -
I'm looking at getting an SC bucket this winter after the rest of my armor is done. From what I've seen a dremmel is the best way to go. I experimented with a heated exacto with less then satisfactory ressaults.
