DR's KST WIP (Kashyyyk Scout Trooper)

Yeah the Jango ended up coming in on a trade, and went out the same way. My brother got a wookie out of the deal, so I can't complain too bad. For the tank detail, use the pin stripping kit from any auto store. Get the smallest one, can't remember the size, 1/8 I think. Worked great. Another tip pawned off from Matt! -

Did you put Velcro on the sides of the foot plate? I was considering, but mine seems to just get looser and looser the more I was. I just have the Velcro on top and on the front. Considering doing snaps on the sides like the Jango boots I had once upon a time ago, but may just try Velcro first. -

Looks fantastic man! You've done really well with everything. Are you going to check with your GML on the drop pouches? I'm curious as to what they would say. -
Yeah by brother is in with me and troops when I do, but I sound like my wife, saying zip me up! I think I'm going to try to put it on the side and hide the zipper behind one of the grey straps.
-
Matt, do you think a zip up on the side would work, since I have to do it again anyway? Would help getting dressed by myself.
-
You may be accepted even without doing the grey or the reflective. Tim and I have the same GML, so we will have the same requirements, but you may not. I would check with yours first to see their preference.
-
Thanks Matt, ill throw some cash your way, just let me know how much, and I can pass along to Tim. So thoughts on the pouches? Mist a little at a time til approved?
-
Thanks Tim. Ill do the same as well. Thinking about running to a tint shop. Now have to find the cummerbund base.

We have green lenses, but they are not reflective lenses. They should look like the outside of polarized sunglasses. So that even when you take a picture in the dark lighting, you can still see the reflective green. I was shown a screen grab where one of the pouches was a lighter grey, so I guess misting will solve the problem. Yeah the cummerbund is a dark grey, not black, but you just can't go that dark. I tried match the sample pic we have, and thought I did so, but in the light/dark, mine is just too dark. I could try some fabric paint, but I'm afraid it will just turn crusty after a while. Now that I have the pattern and measurement, it shouldn't be too bad to make another. Unfortunately I'm now on vacation until the end of the weekend, so all work will be suspended until I get back home.

Back to the drawing board. I was told my drop pouches need to be grey or lighter and not the same pattern as the rest of the camo. So weather with grey/white? I need to redo the cummerbund, since the base is too dark. What do you think about putting the zipper on the side of the cummerbund? Easier to get dressed by yourself. And I have to put a reflective green lens in. Any ideas where I can get a reflective green tint to out on the lens or a reflective green lens?

I used a grey primer, which dried in a few days. It will rub off though if you mess with it too much. I really don't think there is much we can do about it. I almost cut the arm greebs out of a very thin piece of foam (which I should have done) but the paint held up pretty well there since it was a small piece. As for the belt, I'm going to look into another option and see if I can get something made from a different material. Rubber is hard to paint regardless of what kin it is, but I'm going to see if I can do a belt out of foam as well. My idea is to cut the base an then glue a grid section on top for the different spaces. It should be pretty easy, and if you paint each before you put it on, base black and top section grey, then you won't have a need to worry about covering and then painting. It would also hold up to glue pretty well. I've seen some guys on RPF use a wash of white glue and water to make the foam look more slick and not so much like foam. Hope this helps. -

Yep, my wife is a bit tired of zipping me up. Keep telling her it is years and years of payback -
I've got nothing extra in there! I trooped in Tampa heat with no fan in a tusken, so I figured I could stand not to put it in. I've been spread pretty thin with our Disney trip this weekend and back over the for the rest if the week, I figured I would hold out til next paycheck! I used one of the helmet pad sets. It works well, but does not hold my head the way I think it should to be secure, thus the chin strap. I used one in my tusken as well, and I've just gotten used to them.

Yeah, when you put it on, it will space out. Looks like your two pouches in the middle are too high and should sit on top of the ones below. It has turned out great for you though. -

I think it looks fantastic! Depending how yours fits, you most likely won't need the snaps on the shirt. I also put eyelets in mine, under my belt since it sits directly on top of the cummerbund, for the back leather thong of the hanging pouch. Your color looks great though! -
Also, I installed a chin strap into the bucket. While all I could find were football chin straps, where the chin cup is huge, I found a baseball helmet chin strap, which worked fantastic. Keeps the bucket in my head without any wobbling.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I won't have to correct too much. What are we on by the way????
-
CA glue. I also notched a gap on the bottom of each side of the belt (fingernail clippers worked the best) so the leather could pass through with no problem.
-
Thanks for the tip Grumps! I did exactly as instructed. Alright fellas, I submitted my pics. Let me know what you guys think. And I realize I'm standing crooked! Twisted my ankle last week, stupidly, while chasing/playing with my daughter up the stairs, and going to Disney this weekend was the dumbest move to make! http://s1066.photobucket.com/user/bselphfsu282/library/Kashyyyk%20admission%20photos

How wide is the stripe across the tank and where does it end?

I got my suit from Union Jack's Place Ltd on eBay. Worked out great! Very reasonable price and he helps with the correct sizing for you. Check him out but make sure to tell him you need the cotton kind. Mine came with some patches on it as well that I had to remove.

I like the way you have done your zipper with the Velcro flap. You will need to weather the cummerbund, to give it that real dirty look. The only question I see, is that the stomach belt looks a little wide and a little low. It can just be the proportions in the picture, but the belt looks to be wider than 2 inches. Also, are you attaching your belt to the bottom if the cummerbund itself? If so, I would certainly move to stomach belt up a bit.
-
Alright, got some work done, thanks to mom coming in town and a wiz on the sewing machine, but check out the cummerbund. It looks a little weird in the lighting, grey looks a little light and the dark looks a little black. Have already got the Velcro on for the pouches on after this picture. You can see I put snaps on the bottom for the belt, which has turned out perfectly. http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u415/bselphfsu282/95a116da-6c79-420f-aeb9-718c0339050b.jpg Literately all I have to do is attach the belt buckle and the hanging pouches. The belt is still pretty tacky, so I can't put it on yet. Check out the bucket. Since the BC kit did not come with the decals for under the eyes, I drew the pattern on paper, then transferred to an ABS sheet I had so I could get a hard stencile. I then put it on top of the large letters and numbers you put on mailboxes, and cut out the piece. I then put the entire thing on the bucket and then VERY lightly, cut strips and removed every other one. Look ok? http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u415/bselphfsu282/image-10.jpg

Yep, Disney yesterday for me!
