Yeah I actually screwed in and bolted from the inside. This way, I can take it off if really needed. My gluing ends up running down the mask as well, so I felt better about just screwing it on, an the using the disc to cover the screw. Good idea just gluing though. Would have saved me a minor heart attack I had preparing to drill into what I spent so much time sanding!

How is everyone packing their gesr so they dont get it all scratched?
-
None have a flip up visor. The BC bucket comes with the visor as a separate piece which has to be screwed on. I'm not sure how MB comes, but you would need the black disc on the sides regardless.
-
No, I know what you are talking about. The helmet on the photos do not show a visor bolt and cover, but yes it is required. You do not need a specific bolt, other than having the rough black cover. I used a screw to hold the visor, and then a foot cover for a barstool to cover it. Worked pretty well.

You can do like I did and order the ones from BC, and then cut the others out of your own vinyl or street/mailbox numbers.

Well I think there is an issue as to what is shading and what is the base color. I have seen one or two that have used a green was, but most used the tan/kaki base color. Since the reference pics are all computer generated, and no real armor was ever constructed, it really does make it hard to tell what color is which. As for now, I would proceed as the CRL requires. You can try to green wash, but you GML may not approve you depending on the outcome.

Chest armour grey shoulder straps
bselphfsu282 replied to Adie1979's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Armor/Helmet
Agreed. Plasti dip would work, or any rubber spray/ Flex Seal stuff would work. It seams the cozy is a little less dense that I had, and maybe a bit softer, so the spray would firm it up a bit. I do like it better than the abs since it looks to move better, and wouldn't scratch up that nice paint job. Great idea with the cozy though. Kick myself for not thinking of that when I have tons of them around, instead of going out and buying foam. -

Chest armour grey shoulder straps

Drew, that's why I went with the dense foam. It flexed with movement and held up to paint pretty good. A little cracking when I flex it too much, but looks worn. -
Chest armour grey shoulder straps

I did the same as Allan. I was considering doing elastic, but it was not working out well. The nylon holds great without pulling down on the shoulder too much. I kept the knee elastic as well and it wraps just under my arm. I added no Velcro to my shirt and just held with the 2 straps. -

Kitty litter?!?!? That's fantastic! I did the same as Recon, but I used Velcro instead of snaps. My straps are a but longer, going farther down the back and chest for more Velcro and grip. I used a dense foam pad that I got from the hardware store, found it in plumbing, for the grey strips. Paint is holding up well on it. -
Yep, been there! It is looking very nice though! You made stenciles yet? I ended up buying some cheap an thin abs sheets from the hobby store, and the cut the stencile from those. I got about 2 stenciles per sheet. Couldn't do too much since I needed enough around the cutout to stop any overspray.

I was considering a Weequay cause funds are running low then I realized I still need a blaster

Tim, you're just the leather working machine! Tell Brandon he needs to pay you or ill break him! I feel ya though, about to make a gaffi for Shad. Have fun at fanboy, I'm sidelined with torn ligaments in ankle (aka sprain). The painting should go quick since you're pretty far along with everything else.
-
Yep, I was thinking the same thing.

If you need me to run by there sometime this week, just let me know.

Hobbytown on highway 60. If you get off 75 at the Brandon exit, turn towards Brandon mall and then make left into regency square. Right by movie theater, the store is there.
-
Looking good bro. It should come along quickly now. And Brandon loved the wookie bag! He came over last night to finish the cap rivets on it. He's already been shipping the pictures around to the squad. Great job again.
-
No way am I that good! That's a great idea though with the 3 thin pieces instead of one block that you have to route out. Ill tinker around, mess up, throw it a few times, an then end up buying one

Aaaand I'm jealous. Thats showroom quality man. Considering trying to make one myself since the build has run the bank dry at this point!

Dang, couple hundred KM? You might as well come on down to Florida!

Yeah it was a lot of fun to be able to hang with Tim and actually go over issues and help one another. His is coming Along quite nicely. It also helps for Tim to have someone who has gone through approval so he knows what our GML is looking for.
-
And approval has come. #27! Couldn't have done with without you guys! Made a world of difference having Matt, who has all the knowledge, and Allen and Tim, who were running into the same issues as me with the same kit. Thanks again guys!
