  1. Contact Blue Cyclone (http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showuser=237) for info on where to purchase stuff
  2. In the snouts, there are two small circular holes above the aerator. Are they meant to aim straight upwards? The MLC one I have slants to the left. I've ordered the MC snout - does the MC slant too?
  3. Your fix is looking awesome! Well done!
  4. I know you have given yourself a two month deadline but stop rushing into things. Haste makes waste. A lot of people wait a lot longer for their parts. It's better to miss a con than blow a few hundred dollars on something you'll hate and regret.
  5. I didn't get bolt covers.
  6. The other things that come with the MLC kit are the chin cup and a snout. I don't like the snout at all because it's really lop-sided and I think it's too short. It doesn't matter since I'm getting the snout from MC. You also need bolt covers and possibly black cloth to cover the air intakes.
  7. I thought I should create a new thread rather than inadvertently derail someone else's thread. I recently received my MLC v3 helmet kit. I've started working on it myself because I feel like I should work on my own helmet kit. (Last costume, I just purchased an EFX TK and modified it.) I want to try to aim for Lancer status eventually. Anyway, cutting and pasting from this thread (http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=8521) to avoid derailing... Yesterday I painted the inside of the helmet black and replaced the wingnut and bolt. I should have come to the forums to read up on things before buying things from the hardware store. I bought some black grommets that fit over the bolt. They are too tall so I cut it in half and it sits *almost* flush when I place it over the bolt. I'd say it's 1 mm too tall. The Lancer specification says: "Visor hinge bolt covers must be replaced with accurate, flat disc ones." http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=1364 Anyway, here's my actual questions: Is this okay? Is there a specific grey that I need to use?
  8. I was thinking that was a particularly nasty warping too. In that first pic, the top part of the visor looks particularly bad. The bolt covers are particularly bad. For lancer status, how flush do they need to be? If they are sticking out by 1 mm, does it matter?
  9. Sounds good. I like the look of your kit already because of the possibility of putting electronics in but having a scope to see through would be cool. Of course, as before, it won't be awhile (month or two) until I can buy. My credit card debt is pretty ugly at the moment and I need to renew my gym membership in two weeks.
  10. You should contact bluecyclone for information on parts you need. I bought my fibreglass helmet from MLC. This year, I paid him on 2 June and received my painted (outside white) parts on 4 July.
  11. A factor you may want to consider is recent experiences with armour makers: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=8322
  12. Congratulations on acceptance! Feel free to tell us who made which bits (well their initials, not their actual names)
  13. I didn't realise a separate vest needs to be purchased. Could someone explain this?
  14. It's a good price. I'm not planning on getting a blaster for another month or two - got to get my car serviced as a higher priority. There's other things I need to consider such as whether I can get it through Australian customs - I know there's a free form I can fill out with the police...
  15. Is this you or is someone just stealing your pics? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Star-Wars-Resin...#ht_4007wt_1141
  16. I haven't played Battlefront in years because my PS 2 died from cockroach poop. In the game, does the scope emit a laser-beam or is it just a normal rifle scope? When it fires, how long is the burst and what colour?
  17. When I did "Weird Al" Yankovic concerts, it was canon-events too. Isn't the preferred nomenclature "sharp shooter"? Sniper has a nasty connotation.
  18. Thanks for your advice. I've read a lot about undersuits and still feel like I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for. Admittedly, the CRL for the undersuit is a short paragraph. So far, I mainly look out for how much striping is on the suit and price. What was wrong with the second inner suit? One of the advantages of that store is that I will be able to visit it in a couple of months (my MC armour will arrive in a few months) and thus can try it before buying it. I think the TBs who regularly troop in my garrison have gone for the flight suit. I'll keep looking and if I don't find anything, I might just go for the Proban since I've heard good reviews in these threads.
  19. I've been looking at racing suits for sale in Australia over the Internet. What do you think of this: http://www.kartbay.com.au/p/1210989/kb-rac...a-approved.html I wish there was a larger picture since I'm not sure if that's a pocket over the right half of the chest. That'd be covered so would it need to be removed if it's a pocket or logo? Are motorcyle inner suits adequate? eg http://www.motorcycleracegear.com.au/RS-Ta...uit-NXU913.html http://www.motorcycleracegear.com.au/RS-Ta...uit-NXU914.html
  20. This is a really helpful thread. I'm thinking of going for the Pro Ban because I like that it has less sleeves to take off. I want to a charity cycling ride in spring (but with a street-legal helmet on). Would the ProBan be too hot for that? It's also helpful that there are size guides such as this: http://static.speedwaymotors.com/images/ch...ng-stdsuits.gif I'm short (I think around 5' 6") but a bit overweight at the moment. So when it comes time to buy a suit, do I go for the large to handle my fat and shorten?
  21. Ha ha! Sometimes it surprises me how much sweat there is even indoor (malls) troops). I haven't done any outdoor troops yet in my TK but will be doing a 9 km fundraising walk for the MS Society in June (our winter).
  22. That's great that you have your bucket now. If you have access to the 501st forums, there's someone selling squirrel fans. Alternatively, as I did for my TK, I bought a small 12V PC fan and battery packs. Some people also recommend painting the inside of the helmet black because it supposedly absorbs light from a flash when people take photos... I don't really believe that.
  23. Thanks for the advice. I also don't want to put any more pressure on LW than everyone else already has.
  24. So the main purpose of the balaclava is to cover up the neck (and I know stormtrooper neckseals are not acceptable) and a secondary function is to keep the head cool under the bucket. My question is since the "face" of the balaclava isn't meant to be seen under normal circumstances, are novelty balaclavas okay? eg This skull face balaclava http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Skull-Balaclava-Str...83#ht_500wt_870
  25. I'm keen on getting one of these helmets too! How do you all think the experience of wearing this will compare to the fibreglass of MLC? I know this is jumping the gun a bit: I need a bucket before November for a charity fundraising event. Do you think these will be available in-time for that? Should I go for the MLC v3 to make that deadline?
