Received my armor...what a mess!

Who is the seller? -
Funny enough, my buddies slid them forwards. I forgot about my bund issues. It's really tight. I had really bad scout camel toe. Is it possible to modify the bund so it's taller? The riding patches are stitched in with elastic. Dang it's hard to see black on black in those photos. Thanks for the advice.

Hi everyone, I went to an armour party on Saturday and had my photos taken in costume. I'd like to get some feedback on my costume. I don't really like these photos. I've put on a few kilograms for starters. I don't even stand up straight (and I didn't even drink any beers). Link to photobucket album: http://s1138.beta.ph...23%20Feb%202013 One thing I've noticed is that the torso armour isn't sitting evenly on my shoulders. What do you think of my drop box positioning?

My advice is don't buy cheap rivet guns. My first one was around $15 and I regretted it because the rivet would get stuck in the gun and not break off like it should. I'd spend half an hour on each rivet trying to get it to break off. While rivet guns aren't used much with TBs, they are used a lot in TKs.

Yeah, the shoulders do look pretty huge. Also missing grey rectangular decal on chest plate. -

Also drop boxes too low. Shoulder bells should not overlap bicep armour. -

What's wrong with his suit? What constructive criticism would you have? The only thing I see is that the inside of his pouch should be tucked inside the bund. I went to an armour party to get photos taken yesterday and the main thing I noticed was that I'm fatty than I thought and my posture and stance was terrible. -

Attaching tank to backplate

Attaching tank to backplate
elwyn5150 replied to chilledmilk's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I attached with bolts and didn't bondo. However, for non-canon events (eg parties), I still can use the inaccurate MOM flashing LED. The switch was attached to the round greeblie but when it came off and I tried to glue it back on, I stuffed up the switch. So I manually attach and remove the tank to turn it off and on. -
Upgrading MC boots to Lancer spec
elwyn5150 replied to elwyn5150's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I've updated my boots. I used Krylon Camoflage to repaint the soles one colour. I really like the way they look and feel with the slots cut in. However, they still look better from a foot away because my X-acto skills haven't been perfected. (Side note: I think the reason the vinyl above the dogbone looks like it is sticking out is because the holster is weighing things down a little.) At extremely close range, it's still possible to see where the old stitching was: Definitely not so much a little further back: -
painting the inside of helmet?
elwyn5150 replied to chilledmilk's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I painted it with a brush using a matt black. I don't think it matters too much how you paint it and how it looks since only you will over see inside it and nobody is going to peer right down those holes. It's more of a matter of getting it black. If you are spray painting, you could consider a mask while painting. -
Attaching tank to backplate
elwyn5150 replied to chilledmilk's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I cut up some drain pipe holders in half so I had bits of plastic that were at right-angles. I heated up them and bent them a bit because the curve of the tank. Glued one bit on the inside of the tank's side. Drilled hole through that plastic thing and the back of the armour. The trickiest part was making sure that the hole in the plastic bit and the back of the armour lined up. To do this, I taped a small round rare earth magnet on the inside plastic bit where the hole went, lined up the tank against the back plate then used another rare earth magnet to find where I needed to drill on the back plate. -
Don't forget that the mesh isn't accurate.

I've never sold anything on eBay but I assume that the seller's control panel would have a button/link to click that indicates when they say they shipped it and that unless there is an associated tracking number, it's not actual proof that it has been shipped.

How could I not have fun? I'm playing with knives that come in a cute little box. -

I bought a set of X-acto knives in a little box set and restarted work on the soles. Here's a picture of the most recent section I did with X-acto. I plan on doing more slots above in the front end section when I get a new #17 blade - I accidentally broke the last one. This is a closeup of the heel on the other side. I think it's not pretty but am assuming that it won't look so bad once the paint goes on and don't think many people will see unless they get down on all fours. I think when the cutting is finished, I'll remove the vinyl before spray painting. The vinyl needs reglueing anyway. -

That corner cutter looks really interesting. So it cuts four sides but how does it cut underneath? -

One of these? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221147798476?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 So they get blunt a bit and that's why I should get more than one? I've already started on the one of my boots. The bottom slots I've done look a lot better because one side is open already. The top slots I've done look worse - like the removed bit is a peakless pyramid. -

Does anyone have any tips on how to make the cut out bits look more even? I'm just using a sharp box cutter which is great for removing bulk, Do you use putty to make things look evened out? Is it worth bothering since the general public won't be crouching down to look at it? -

Sounds like a good choice. I am repainting my bucket with Krylon this afternoon. Already done the primer level. The Krylon fusion can says there's no need for priming so when I get the right coloured Krylon for the boots, I won't need to prime.
