  1. Great to have you back underway... And congrats on the promotion!
  2. For a first build the best advice I got was that you will not get it right straight from the start. In as much as you will get the look, but that trims for comfort and wearability are an ongoing process. The trooper who told me that has been in his TK for 10 years now and still finds he makes the odd adjustment here and there. So don't worry that it isn't perfect straight up. Take your time, enjoy it, and be comfortable trimming as required for comfort. No rush
  3. Just a thought Ski, would it be worth hitching your thigh pouches up a little? Would give you more clearance over the pouches on your pants' thighs, as well as may save them flapping around when you move. Darn fine job that man! Great work, nice to see how it has all come together for you
  4. From one half-built KST to another, congrats!
  5. Oops I misread this as an expression of interest, so Giovanni had an idea of #'s and sizes when production commenced at a later date... Thanks for clarifying that
  6. I'd be looking at a size 9 Uk (size 10 US) pair... but might be a few months before I am in a position for them. Mind you that might work out well with the production schedule Looks like it is going to be an outstanding product, very exciting!
  7. Fingers crossed you can get back to this soon (If you want to that is!). It is a great WIP thread, hope it all works out for you
  8. Nice one Ski... wouldn't know you had cut the sun-roof out after painting it - well done! Fingers crossed the mesh and lense arrive soon for you and you can call this project a wrap How did you go with your first troop... not too many armour kisses I hope
  9. Troops 'n trims, never know what adjustments you need until you take it for a test drive And Joe Public don't look for detail, they just see the complete package! Looking good Ski, keep it up!
  10. That camo seems to be coming along very nicely Ski! However I notice that you haven't cut the 'sun-roof' detail into the brow of the bucket yet. Would that not have been easier to do prior to painting? I understand the con coming up = a want to have it ready to troop... do you plan to cut & weather it around the current paint, at a later date?
  11. I have been able to get the pouches made and painted. Before sealing them I was very careful to match the colours as closely as possible to the colour chart in the CRL. I am still having issues with pasting pictures from either Flickr or Photobucket, but my work so far can be seen at TAG (Terra Australis Garrison) as listed above. Thanks again for the feedback, the constructive comments have helped me make this kit something to be proud of so far!
  12. Wouldn't know you had extended it... looks a treat! How is the fit now?
  13. Just a thought... If you made extensions could you paint to match and weather the seam to save a total repaint?
  14. Looking good Ski, you must be getting excited, getting this close to the finish line
  15. Yup, makes perfect sense thanks Matt! Tricky build this KST but oh so much fun!
  16. Good advice, thanks Dan! Thought I would leave the rank tab at the moment as it may be a good spot to hang an amp from behind the chest piece. (Bad idea?) I will try that with the stitches, I had read that Mr B had the same issue. But that is an elegant solution Think you may be right about the chest pockets too. Initially I thought they would be excellent for storage... but later I remembered there are pockets in the front of the pants *facepalm* As to the thigh pouches I was also wondering if they were slightly overlarge... not sure whether to make them smaller now or wait until I have fitted the armour and drop boxes to see how much I need to change them. Thanks for the input, appreciate your time and suggestions!
  17. Well I have been posting my WIP on 501st TAG website (lot of Aussies very keen to see a KST up close)... I think, bar weathering, that I have finished my soft armour. I am very open to any suggestions as to improvements, adjustments or trims I may need to make to this point. Holding off on weathering until I am satisfied the soft armour is good to go. I have posted the link to the WIP thread for TAG. If you get a chance and have a look, I would be very keen for any feedback offered. 501st TAG WIP: http://forum.501tag.com/index.php/topic/10...mp;#entry145549 Don't be afraid to make valid suggestions, as I would rather find any errors during construction, than get them pointed out at approval stage. Thanks all
  18. Coming along very nicely Ski! Been using your WIP thread for a few tips with my build. Keep up the great work
  19. I think they seem to be a nice match Ski. But I am no expert... just my two cents
  20. Hiya... I had all sorts of issues with padding out the grey pads on the gloves (not least of all was my sewing machine died, then I managed to stitch the glove together.) So. I tried something slightly different. I wanted to get the padded effect of the grey, but wanted to avoid stitching if possible for those sections. So I placed the grey pads, then overlapped them with slightly smaller grey sections to create the impression of height. The old adage of standing to close to a problem to see the solution applies, so I am keen to get any feedback on whether these pass muster or whether I need to go back to the drawing board for the pads. I have included the link to my Flickr wip page... apologies as I had issues embedding the photo here from Flickr directly. http://www.flickr.com/photos/53299954@N06/...ith/5377759722/ Thanks in advance for any tips, suggestions or just general feedback.
  21. DPM jacket/pants, and the gloves arived today... have made great progress on the gloves and hope to post some pics tomorrow for feedback. Then dye over the weekend... oh this is a fun little kit to put together!
  22. I found a supplier in Australia, via ebay, that sells it by the metre... was $6 approx ( then delivery cost on top)... Have included the link for those who are interested in a look. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MIRROR-GREEN-WINDOW...=item45eee1837c I am not in any way affiliated with the vendor Don't know if that is any help, but might be worth a look.
  23. PM sent - hoping to be added to the list when you get up and running again.
  24. Thanks Ski... they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - used your wip as the model for mine
  25. Decided to start my KST from the ground up, so here is a go I have had at the boots. The only ones I could find with tan soles were high ankle boots, but they should sit under the shin armour ( they reach to about 5cm above my ankle)... very interested in any feedback for improvement. KST Boot Went for a scuffed look so they are off white rather than TK 'Disco Shiny' white. Here is the WIP I created on Flickr for these boots: http://www.flickr.com/photos/53299954@N06/...ith/5359087201/ Thanks in advance for hints, tips etc
