  1. Ah, stealth straps, gotcha!
  2. Congrats! It is a fantastic kit when finished... take your time and ask as many questions as you need... luckily the tough ones are mostly already asked... you just gotte get all Sherlock Holmes finding the answers Looking forward to watching your build progress... good luck & have fun!
  3. Thanks Kevin I looked @ 501st costume listings today and thought I'll have to build a clone pilot next... now that we have jumped ahead of them in approved costumes
  4. They are awesome looking 'bunds Debbi does, I am planning on upgrading to one of those down the track. Wasn't she talking about shoulder straps? Can't see 'em in the picture... How you looking now Darren... much else left to paint 'n polish?
  5. What can I say... Gotta keep the ewoks warm somehow... That's TMI alright
  6. Thanks again all. Darren, I put the pedal to the metal on this one, sorry Angelo, had a lot of fun getting the pics... until a couple of locals turned up to walk their dog and just stared in bemusement... don't think they were fans The missus admitted she thought the camo job was 'meh' until she saw me blend in to the trees... won her over when I did. Now time to go get me some wookie-pelt underwear
  7. Thanks all - such a fun build I had trouble putting it down once I got started on the armour. Got to test it out in it's natural environment today. Now you see him: ... now you don't: My GML has given approval and has now got the final pics to upload to 501st. So Oz's KST is done & dusted... And we have 12 approved KSTs on 501st website! Wahoo!
  8. thanks all... just a couple of update pics: Have got it ready to go. Plan to add some weathering to it (black & tan/brown spray paint misted over certain areas), as well as borrowing the idea of fake grass in strategic spots (I think that is an awesome effect!)... But seems to have met all the points on the CRL. Here's hoping I get to be Oz's first CB real soon! (Does that make me the first CB in the Southern Hemisphere?) ps: Big thanks to all for the advice and support on this journey, and especially a huge "We're not worthy!" Wayne's World style to Mr B for an absolutely awesome kit!
  9. Managed to finish this off today: Just got a little more stitching to do (resize thigh pockets, velcro on shoulders) and I am set to take it for a test drive. Will pop some pics of the kit up in a day or two when all is done. ... oh and black/ brown weathering of course! (Mud & blaster scorching to make it look loved)
  10. I was just slightly over that measurement wise... for some reason my brain wasn't ticking over properly when it came to measuring out the slot, so I ended up with 2.8 inches * .75 of an inch. Minute difference, but I found it easier to measure when marking it out. *Shrug* Of course I cut well within the marked position then used a file to work it back towards the marked lines, to avoid any overtrimming.
  11. That's the only problem with camo, drop it and you are in trouble... ...as the quartermaster said: "Just got a shipment of 4000 camo uniforms yesterday and now I can't find one of them!" Hehe happy to try velcro and see how I go. Least I get to start painting today! Woot!
  12. Ah great idea - is that the Rare Earth style magnets? Might try that down the track if the velcro is not a winner. Have gone for this sort of setup with the pouches/bund velcroing:
  13. One question for you Mr B... how are the rubber patches best attached to the shoulders of the chest armour? Is there a requirement on how these are attached (ie: TK can be attached both front and back, or free floating @ the back)...
  14. Got a bit done on my armour: Shopping on Tuesday for the paint and cloth to finish my drop pouches: I decided to add a back to the drop pouches to make them easier to cover, and maintain the image should they flap up when I move Cod is cloth covered. So all that is left is mounting the shoulders on knee-pads, a few touches of velcro to the shirt (biceps etc), the final few coats of paint and pretty much good to go! Oh and have to resize the thigh pockets... which is the last item to do once the ammo pouches are strapped, so I can measure them out correctly. I decided to vary a little from Mr B's excellent tute thread regarding the armour. Instead of using metal to mount the shin strap greebs I used some spare plastic from my 'shim' sign. I bent them into shape, then heated and clamped them, allowing them to cool into the desired shape. I thought they would be easier to glue to the greeb that way, as well as being a tad less weight on the strapping material on the shins. I have some window tint for the visor, just have to buy a cheap replacement face shield to mount it on and trim to shape. And instead of liquid latex I'm going to use masking fluid. The only liquid latex for sale in the area is from adult bookshops... I don't think they use it for what I want to use it for
  15. Wow... Looking mighty good!
  16. Just got my bodacious box of Bungle-ish bliss in the mail today! So all set to get cracking on the armour and bring this little baby to life Thanks all for your input so far, and to Mr B... awesome job on the armour! Terrific little package, very impressed and happy - and still giggling at what is written in the visor Will post more pics as the build progresses, and of course will also keep my TAG WIP updated (see above link).
  17. Looking good! Oddly enough I found the velcro placement on the 'bund to be more painful than the pouches. But not a huge job. And at least you are a 3rd of the way thru
  18. I used a very similar boot and dremeled a pronounced curve in the arch of the sole. As well as curves into the sole like the CB boot pattern. I used Sgt Ski's WIP thread for ideas on shaping the sole, you may want to have a look at that for some ideas.
  19. I'm still waiting for the armour but the rest is done bar weathering the pouches... Sounds like a level playing field Game on!
  20. You must be getting close to the finish line soon! would offer to race you but I reckon you would beat me too easily
  21. Fabric wrapped cod... *insert Homer drool here* Welcome back
  22. Just received a DC-15S from 'Chuck'. Have to say it is an amazing reproduction and both the price and delivery were excellent. Definate two thumbs up on this item! Won't post his details in the public thread but happy to pass his details on to any interested parties, send me a PM if interested. (I assume this isn't breaking the rules re: advertising, please let me know if this is considered improper.) Here is the blaster I received: http://www.flickr.com/photos/53299954@N06/5513400608/ Highly recommended for anyone who is a bit shy of scratch building a DC-15S
  23. Huzzah! Well done Ski, congrats!
  24. Well done! Looks great... And you even camo'd the boots! Full points
