The tan Sidewinders look like a good start. Bearing in mind you would need to colour the boot itself white (but obviously the sole stays tan). And possibly shape the grooves in the soles slightly to get the CB look. But a great base to work with!

Good luck with the build, and we're here to help out if you have any questions

I had a pretty ordinary Christmas this year. A few things happening that took the sheen off the whole affair. Today, I got a knock on the door to be handed a postal package containing this awesome hat. Much appreciated Matt, very kind and generous of you! I'll wear it with pride... and a smile Hope you and your family had a great Xmas... you just made mine a whole lot better!

It is a beautiful lid to work with... good luck, take your time & keep us posted. Always great to see another CB emerging

Looks great Grumpy! If it is a little loose maybe your lad will be happy to slip one of these under it?

Nice drills, folks! Great pics

I didn't use any kind of template but made mine by creating a cummerbund that reached from my waistline to under my armpits. Once all stitched & sewn, I then measured and trimmed it back to get a good snug fit. About the only measurement of importance for me in this process was the strips on the 'bund. Each strip was 1.5" wide, and there is 1" between each strip. Hope that is a little help.

Looking good there, you have got more of a 'purple' than a brown look in the cloth now, which is the aim with the dyes. I have posted a picture below as I don't think purple really sums it up... but a picture tells a thousand words. As to covering the buttons, I used the material from one of the rear pockets to make a flap that covers the collar. It is stitched at one side, and there are several velcro dots sewn on the other side to attach it to when suiting up.There is no need to cover the buttons all the way down on your shirt front, as the 'bund does the hard work.down to your belt line. Tuck the shirt into the pants & voila no buttons showing on the shirt front Please note that the above picture is from my shirt in progress (no flash used for the picture). I then used a 'Sharpie' permanent black marker to go over the stitching and conceal it. The end result looks more like: (flash used for the picture below, thus the seeming difference in shirt colours). Hope that helps.

Just curious, can you give a cost for a pair of these plus postage to Australia? Assuming you're happy to post to Oz. Won't be able to shop before Xmas so no rush... Happy if you want to PM Thanks in advance -

Awesome, thanks for sharing! Most impressive

You might want to give it another brown rinse, then a black. I used 2 Rit brown boxes and one black to get the colour right. With a gentle machine wash in cold water between each rinse. NB: the black rinse was only quick. As the DPMs were drying the pattern was all but invisible... But that was just the damp cloth causing that effect. This was after my first brown wash (25 minutes): 2nd brown wash (12-15 minutes): 3rd wash (black, 10 minutes) Wet: And when dry: Hope that helps with some comparisons for you. Yours may not end up end up exactly the same, but it hopefully gives you a basis to work with Keep us posted, always grand to see another CB in the works!

Looking mighty fine! -
The genuine British Army Surplus Desert Camo listed is the pattern you want. And it is cheaper in the listing found by Junglie Scout. Win win

I'm modifying these boots to by my KSB's
Jimah replied to Bayani's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Soft Parts
Keen to see how these come up. And kudos to Grumpy for the screen grab... Great detail there to work from. -
They are pretty easy and not too time consuming to make. Have a look at Sgt Ski's build thread for them, I used his suggestions as to how to make the covers and found his thread very easy to follow.. Also I used cheap foam offcuts for the pouch inserts, which I trimmed to the correct shapes. Cost about $20 all up for the cloth, paint and foam. Just a suggestion... as I think you can buy the inserts but not the complete, covered pouches (But I am happy to be corrected on this one)

They look like a great boot to work with... the price is right too! You are after something like this: So a repaint on the soles, perhaps a few slight adjustments on the notches in the sole and they should be a nice boot. (I was tinking round the notches off slightly, but they may not need it.) -

Try posting pics in Flickr or similar website. Then right click picture & copy properties info. Then use insert image button on these forums and paste pics properties link. That might work for you. It's how I link pics anyhow. -
Albuquerque New Mexico International Balloon Fiesta 2011
Jimah replied to Bloodclaws65's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper HQ
I'm not sure what is more impressive... the balloon festival or so many CB's showing how it is done Great drills, troopers! -
I used tint & it works well... But I am planning to get one of the Nike visor inserts down the track to replace it. The Nike visor is a simple & elegant solution it seems. To paraphrase some old hairy guy: " A more refined visor for a more civilized age."

Thanks for the feedback, folks! Just an update - I got some comparison shots of the BFG, with the CB on... I wanted to know if it worked with the kit, prior to trying it out at a convention. ... At least the camo matched...

A couple of little lid questions
Jimah replied to darren1970's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Armor/Helmet
Mine is centred from left, right, front & back. So bang in the middle. Hope that helps -
Outstanding work you two, congrats!
