Most welcome... Sounds like you have all the bases covered Looking forward to your approval! And I should add that it isn't that your chest armour is sitting too high, rather that with the shoulder bells flush on your shoulder it emphasizes the height of the chest armour shoulder straps. Be that same for any trooper, so it is not just you!
-
Good luck on approval - we have a real rush on CB's at the moment One tip - small adjustment maybe - is that the shoulder armour should appear to be higher than the shoulders, rather than sitting flush on your shoulders. If you can raise them up a tad it will help the overall look and also make your chest armour seem to sit lower on your body. Also, do you have any spare dyed fabric? Just looking at your first pic I can see a button over the chest plate, and a slight gap at your collar. Don't mean to take away from a great job, just a few suggestions for tweaks I used one of the pockets from the shirt to create a flap at the neck, that velcros shut over the buttons when worn. That said, looks great, good work trooper!

Mate if you get stuck with no payment for these send me a PM with your PayPal details and I'll chip in to help cover the cost. You shouldn't be out of pocket for doing a good deed Us CB's gotta stick together! After all, there's only us, and some real mad walking carpets out there... Sorry to hear your trust was abused. Very sorry to hear it. -
Looking great! My only suggestion is the rubber straps behind the knee armour need to be black. Otherwise spot on - weathering looks outstanding!

Oooh good luck!

I had some wide elastic straps left over from my AM TK build. I glued one end into my shin armour, and I have the other end running out of the front of the shin, which attaches via elastic to the top inside of the boot armour. For the front (toe area) I have a small piece of elastic with two pieces of velcro running crosswise over it, one piece face up, the other face down. This velcros to the toe of the boot and to the inside front of the boot armour. I have found that this keeps the armour snug to my boot, yet allows enough movement when I walk that the armour doesn't clatter, clunk or move around more than required. Some pics: Disregard the 3 squarish pieces of white velcro shown on the top of the boot. They were part of the trial and error process when working out the armour, and are not used. The same goes for the long white velcro strip at the very front base of the inside of the armour. The important part is the velcro section above that strip, where the 'hinge' attaches. To put it all on, I add the velcro patch to the toe armour, then the boot. This effectively acts like a hinge. Then I lower the armour back over the boot and apply the strap from the shin last. This pulls the armour back and snug against the toe of the boot and the front base of the shin armour. Sounds complicated, but it isn't. Hope the pics help, give me a yell if this is as clear as mud Let me know if you want a picture of the inside armour without the 'hinge' attached. Fish out

Have to admit I have weathered with spray paint misting. Looks good, but doesn't show well in photos. I think you have nailed it here, going to try this myself. Great call!

Wow the weathering looks great - what a clever idea with the acrylic sticks - got a great result!

Nice work! I have been planning to re-jig my amp setup. Currently I have the amp in a strap in the tank at the back of my armour. Nice fit and the cable is concealed as it runs into the helmet. However the issue is that, as the amp is behind my back, sound projects out behind me but is muffled by my body. Nothing worse than a civvie saying "Pardon?" to a trooper Was planning to move the amp to a front pouch - love your idea! I'm also looking into a wireless setup to save trying to hide the mike lead from the pouch, should I go down this path. Again, love the idea... you must be the Swamp MaGuyver!

I have just sent BrotherHalo an email about this, I would love to see a CRL in place given we seem to be getting a few up and coming CB's, both being built and being ordered. And it would definately help to have the CRL on 501st. I know my GML struggled to approve my CB simply as it wasn't listed there, and was therefore an 'unofficial' CRL in his opinion. It could also be a good recruiting tool I will keep you posted when I hear anything, unless BrotherHalo beats me to it (I am very conscious that he is snowed under with the coin orders at the moment, so this may not be a quick fix)

Very excited to see the final product... great detail on the sole!

Sweet! On a roll there, you can do eeet! LadySew has done an awesome job with the bund (it is a LadySew, isn't it?)

Very nice! Closing in on the finish line...

Yeah - I am meaning to replace mine with one of those tinted visors, so checked eBay after I hit enter... all I got were golf visors too! Sorry bout that Just googled and found an ebay link (dang!) for green visors... http://cgi.ebay.com/Green-INSERT-Under-Arm...0#ht_2429wt_954 ... bit it is an insert for an eyeshield apparently. So may be a dead end... sorry
-
I saw similar ones on ebay for $20 (from memory)... I searched for NFL + visor. Not sure if is the same thing but may be worth a look...
-
Coming along very nicely! Trooping with Mr B? Nice to see we are starting to get more than one CB @ troops (as per The Original Kashyyk Couple) 9 more completed CB's and we can overtake Galactic Marines on the official 501st Ladder...

Oh good tip, thanks Darren! I went nuts trying to find boots with tan soles to mod, thinking the soles wouldn't take paint too easily. Good to know that it can be done!
-
The sole is a great design, looks great! How do you plan to colour the soles? (Will spray paint take?)

Just a couple of tips: the brow area above the visor should be painted like the helm, not black. And the stems under the 'vents' on the mouthpiece should be black. I used sponging for my camo as well, which worked a treat. Get a squarish bit of foam, dip it lightly into the paint, and then roll (a corner or edge of the sponge for a line or crescent shape), or dab the paint on, as the area needs. You can get both curves as well as lines and jagged edges that way. Remember, when doing camo, that less is more. And as mentioned no two camo patterns should look the same. My camo looks 'busy' here: But close up it is more base coat than camo, if that makes sense: Try doing a little bit of one colour, then a little of another, in a smaller area (ie: the forearm guard). Let them dry. They may seem too far apart @ first, but once dry it is very different. And grab some print outs of CB images if possible. They were very handy to have on hand when painting the camo, for reference. I got great ideas about spacing, shapes and patterns for the camo from the screen images. Just a couple of things that helped me with my camo, hope they help! Good luck!

Thanks Mr B - will refer my GML to this and change em back (sewed 2 grey patches over the black straps so an easy fix)... thanks again -

Correct, the two black ones seen in some screen grabs. I had to change them to grey for approval, but as most current CBs (and Lady's 'bunds) have the black straps @ the belt, thought it might be worth looking at on the CRL. -

Just a note to see if we need to update the CRL slightly... There is no specification on the two 'keepers' on the cummerbund (specifically what colour they are)... I had black, but to get approved had to change them to grey to match the pics of Mr B in the CRL. However all the screen grabs seem to show the two keepers being black. Should we update the CRL to reflect this? Just a thought... it's a small detail but as most 'bunds now have two black keepers, as per screenshots, and as we are trying to get uniformity, thought it was worth a mention. (And the Devil is in the details)
