  1. Vynil would have been cheaper and easier to work with at the time, Ive always thought they were a vynil in the film
  2. Cable ties is how they were done in the film and that is what we ask for mate, sorry but clips are not allowed. I agree a TD was designed to be thrown in theory, but your not likely to be doing that. Lancer is about film accuracy and that is what they did so that is what we ask for sorry mate. Myself and Dave do agree mate, the angle of yours is way off what is in the film, what I questioned is what was written in the standard as it said chevron, which is an inverted V such as what is found on miltitary uniforms it never mentioned curves, but should closely replicate the movie look. But they need to look as per movie bottom line, surely you can see the difference in yours to the film still? Although I did have V instead of curves on my bunds, the angle is still that it looks right if that makes sense, if you look at the shots it does look straight up both sides and curved at the top. The standard now says curve and that is what mine will now have and what we will now be looking for. I still say your drop box straps could go up a touch, I had the same with my misses lancer app. Her straps were shortened and even with her hips looked better for being a touch shorter.
  3. Those pictures actually look straight up both sides with a curve at the very top, but that could be the bend in the cod itself. I didnt think we was taking the MOM exhibit as gospel as it has some alterations to screen used? As long as we are now sticking with that alls good, as I have sent stuff out within the last few days with chevrons as that is what the spec said, obviously that is now not the purchasers fault.
  4. Agreed the pouch flaps are way to short, the cod chevron is far to V shapped, Im not sure whats happened to the specs if you say they have changed mate, thats news to me? I send all mine out as a V shape as the specs have always said "chevron" which is a V not a curve, but no where as V shapped as whats in the picture of yours, I do them alot flatter and once worn to look curved. Dave can you explain why this, if it has indeed been changed from chevron, as thats what its always been and I havent seen a discussion thread about changing it? But yes this particular cod chevron/arch is way off in shape and a long way from what the film shots look like. You will also need to take the metal brackets off your TD as they are not accurate mate. I would also say your drop box straps could be shortened a touch. Also your vest sleeves are too long, they should end just below your shoulder armour and not extend under your bicep mate. Just minor tweaks though mate, not much work really.
  5. The only problem with not hanging you bells on a strap is they tend to ballon alot, and you get the american footballer look. Ive made my fabric shoulder covers attached to the T straps, I sort of velcro the T strap between the back and chest armour and then wrap around the bridge gap which then poppers front and back leaving a 25mm black nylon webbing strap hanging to attach the bell, holds it all in nice and tight.
  6. Yep thats what I did I do how ever find a plain velcro stuck on with E6000 holds for longer than sticky velcro, but the sticky stuff will certainly do.
  7. Thats the trouble with having lady bits, sometimes the bund does have to be lower so not to squash things If you do have to have a shorter bund, have it velcro'd to your chest armour, so when you do lift ya arms up the flight suit wont show through
  8. The boots arnt bad at all, but as you say baggy around the ancle. That is only due to the upright part being to large in the first place before gluing them on, they could have been about 15-20mm narrower when built but hey ho, still not bad and very passable for 501st clearance I thought it was written in the lancer regs once upon a time for a one colour sole? There not hard to find single colured
  9. I always make my cummerbunds fitted never rectangle, take a chest measurment and also a waist measurement and make the bund the same as they fit better dont forget to add your over lap for the velcro closure, chest and waist difference is probably not a big problem if your only say an inch difference like LSFUS says, but 4" is way too much and you end up with a very baggy bund. Best thing is to measure yourself while wearing your flight suit and T shirt or 2 T shirts at the least if you dont have a flight suit yet and make the bund to suit. Only thing to be carefull if your alot wider at the stomach compared to the waist or you wont get it done up, if thats the case then you need to go from a stomach measurment and not the waist as its quite difficult to shape around a belly, especially if making them for others and you cant test fit. Hope this helps
  10. If you can get hold of cotton webbing use that for the drop box straps mate as it is more accurate than the nylon webbing stuff you get in the kit I use one of those electrical Dremmel tools for just about everything, top tool well worth buying one mate
  11. Having made several for lady scouts, theres really no difference in the construction. What I do find if the lady scout has a larger bust then its best to have the bund sit a little lower than usuall and stop just under the bust. If not then its just the same as a mans bund finish around nipple height, down to waist height. Your best to have these made to the right length at the chest and around the waist rather than a rough size around the middle so its the same top and bottom or it just ends up being baggy where you dont want it to be. Its impossible to make them 100% fitted when you cant pin them onto the scout, but I havent had a problem so far with the way I make them.
  12. Personally I see no benefit from doing it, as it just doesnt need it if the bund fits right. It may hinder you from bending forward comfortably, and hey thats why scout is so good to wear so why restrict it further. I will be interested in your findings though for sure
  13. Your off to a great start hun, keep the progress pics comming
  14. Not bad at all mate, but as Witness said dog bone trim is far too wide for a lancer app. But for general clearance I see no problem, top job!
  15. Can you post a close up picture of the bund ribbing, im confident there correct, just need to see it same as we would for any app please.
  16. Wow that sucks sorry your boots fell apart, I would have thought a better glue choice would have held. Im still on my first set of boots over 2 years and they are still holding strong. You really need a flexible glue like E6000 or Goop Ive used this on all my boot builds and have never heard of a set comming apart. Did you use a marine grade vynil? If you get stuck im UK based and can get you a set made up pretty quick pm me
  17. Were all agreed you need to alter the way the pouches are sitting, there is just too much gap above the pouches betwen the chest plate and pouch. Ideally they want to sit under the chest plate and just touch the top of your belt. And they are too wide apart, if you re stitch the ribs closer to each other you can then bring together the pouches and still see the 7 stitch lines between them. I sew my stitches 20mm apart if that helps. You could try pulling down your chest plate a touch as it does sit quite abit higher than your back plate, that should close the gap on the pouches? I know you said you have built the pouches to spec, but there is no spec on these as each troopers height will or should adjust the size the pouches need to be to keep the scale/look right. For instance mine are 6x7" and im 5'10" and my misses pouches are 5x6" as she is 5'8".
  18. I have to agree I dont like to see the pauldrons either, but each to their own I guess.
  19. Congrats on your new lancer status mate, welcome to the club
  20. What size are your pouches and how tall are you mate?
  21. I think you may need to trim down the length of your shoulder bells mate as they just too long on you and its knocking out the look of the rest of your arm armour, I took quite abit off the botom of mine when I did my lancer app back in the day just to get the over all look right, this will make lining up te rest of the armour better and give it a better look bro
