  1. Soles are a little dark and you would need to hide the stitching with weathering, but there better than some ive seen
  2. When I say weather you dont have to do the whole boot just go over the stitching and sole edges to darken them out to blend the stitching in with the soles, and also to dull out that line you have running round the edge as the sole should be plain. Biker boots dont have visable stitching in the movie or 2 tone soles. As for the armour, I used earth colour pigments (the sort they use on railway train sets) dabbled on with a sponge and buffed off to what you want it to look like and then fixed with hairspray washes off easy if needed. I also used a tooth brush and flicked paint to look like oil splats off the speeder
  3. Yup as said just a thermal detonator greeblie, these are £2.50 on Ebay so soo cheap we thought that it should be included in the basics. Id say at that price its cheaper than trying to make one or buying something square to add on like we used to do before we knew what it was. TKs must have the right TD greeblie so its the same here now we know what it is thanks to the blue ray release.
  4. I would say weather the soles/stitching on the boots just a touch just to loose the last of the stitching, just rub over some boot polish or brown/biege acrylic paint, 10 second job. Everything else looks great now, I would say kit up and lets have a look. Reguarding your belt I personally would add some weathering over the rivits to hide them, or drill them out glue or plastic weld the belt togther, then just fill the holes with epoxy glue or abs weld paste and weather over, to hide it. You could do that in less than 30 minutes and get your submission back in mate, depending on how it comes togther id say you would clear with those little mods bro.
  5. Thank you for your reply, we have only amended the vest, thigh/crotch patches, straps and greeblies for basic clearance. All of which can be seen in the visual CRL live now on the main 501st site. I do however like the different colour sections on the basic CRL showing what is then required for lancer, thats a good one and will look into it. In my eyes if a trooper feels down the line they want to become lancer, then just build off the lancer CRL from the start. If not just follow the standard CRL, the basics requirments being what it is now will also be easy to go lancer with minimal costs. Yes there is still a need for 501st, pathfinder and lancer, many troopers get cleared as scout and never log onto the BSN, they are 501st scouts. Once a scout signs up here with a 501st clearance they then become pathfinder, if they then want to do the now minor changes to become lancer then alls good. Unfortunaley there would never be a good time to change the CRL, there will always be someone mid build. If I said the CRL is going to change in two months, do you really feel troopers are going to leave their builds two months to see what happens I doubt it and it wouldnt be fair to say dont start your builds yet we need to change things. I stand by what we have agreed the basic scout needs and have changed it to, this needed doing along time ago. At the end of the day, I know of no other 501st costume that has this many obvious screen seen parts missing in the CRL, its not right not to include them in the basic CRL.
  6. Grandfather rule is not mine mate, but of the legion. But as i said i would like to see all scouts this way but no hand can be forced. Just as previous lancers will keep their status after the last amendments, but would hope in terms of accuracy they will follow suit. The suit as a whole is what makes it iconic not the parts that have been added, its ALL the parts that come together to make the scout.
  7. Unfortunatley there is no hard rule as no patterns or pictures of the vest are about, we can only glimpse the neck line and sleeves on screen. On the visual CRL there is vest pictures of the sort of thing the legion is asking for, as long as the neck and sleeves look right in armour I guess there is a little free rein to how you make the rest. Under the flight suit section of the visual CRL if you read the text there is a clicky to more in depth pictures of the suede parts, unfortunatley the forum the way it is wouldnt allow these pictures to be on the page with the flight suit. Again there is no hard rule on this as long as it looks right. Remember every scout is different so a sizes really go out the window, youve just got to try and get the look right., the butt flap is just rectangular and the thigh patches there is a good pattern to follow in the gallery section.
  8. Lets put this into perspective, what are we asking for a vest ok probably the most expensive part but still cheap enough to buy, a butt and crotch patch I paid £15 for my suede and an hour or so stitching (and that was before I taught myself to sew or had a machine) so again no real expense, and the elastic which is pennies and a greeblie which is £2.50 on Ebay. All in all maybe less than £80 for a much more accurate costume, I dont feel that is out of troopers reach Tthe scout costume has allways been a cheap alternative, or a costume for the wife to get her into the legion, or just done so we have a costume to sit done in. The scout is a fantasic cosume in its own rights and deserves the respect other costumes get. Look how many stormtroopers take the plunge to expert infantry they beat us 10 fold, have their number dwindled because of accuracy? This is not just my decission please dont think it is, yes I pushed it as I love the costume and wasnt something just thrown out there. It has to go to legion council and they have agreed this should be the basics.
  9. Im sorry bro that you feel this way, and hope you do finish it. But its not my detachment its all of ours, I dont think it will dwindle the numbers, maybe in the short term with guys feeling hard done by, BUT no other costume has suffered due to standards. Why would you want to clear half a costume, these parts are clearly on screen, so should be in the CRL should they not?
  10. I have not changed anything to do with the helmet bro, the text is the same as it always has been.
  11. Without sounding funny there really there isnt alot to discuss as its in the film and thats what we strive to look like, flak vest, crotch patches ect are clearly seen in the film, so why in all these years it hasnt been put in the CRL I dont know. WE want to wear a scout from the film so should have all the components in place not half a costume. A boba wouldnt get cleared without his flak vest and tk wouldnt without his neck seal and so on. It is time scouts had the same sense of pride in their costumes, this will be a good thing trust me bro.
  12. Basically for lancer it is like the FISD, where it comes down to fit and finish, guys might have all the right gear but have put it together wrong or it doeant sit right, lancer is about the overall look. Plus there is the addition of no ear mesh, second knee strap, more in depth strapping sizing, boot sole cuts little details like that.
  13. Sorry bud but there will always be someone mid build, it will make you a better scout
  14. Yes I have done the text for it but was having problems uploading the pictures, Brian (Stormtrooperguy) has kindly said he will get them on for me, I'm sure they will be on asap.
  15. Comming along nicely hun, keep up the good work
  16. HI guys I have been in talks with the legion, as I wanted to improve the standards to include some major parts that have been overlooked for a long time. Other detachments have come on leaps and bounds with standards to raise the bar, and I wanted to push the scout CRL to where it needs also to be to make us all a little closer to what is seen on screen. Well im happy to say they have agreed to allow me to make these changes, which will now see a basic scout to require a flak vest, 50mm (2") thong strap, suede or faux suede butt and crotch patchs with 50mm (2") thigh elastics, and the recently found TD greeble. In turn this will make it easier for scouts to become lancer at no or minimal extra costs, so hoping we can boost numbers now. I realise this may not be to everyones taste and already cleared scouts need not do the changes if they done want to under grandfather rights, but really scouts should have these as its very apparent they had them in the film. Marcel
  17. Yup defo option 1, ive never seen any grabs suggesting the ribbed sleeves went higher than the sleeve itself. I would go with a heavy weight fabric like the bund is made out of for the main body, there was talk that the sleeves were made of a lighter material and padded out with wadding giving the ribs like thefront of the bund
  18. I ended up using gloss clear coat and halford apliance white paint on my MLC as I couldnt get matt clear coat at the time and just used a really fine wet and dry paper to knock off the uber shine
  19. Andi is steering yo right bro, the flight suit is my main gripe with the bagginess. What I did with mine is turn it unside out and just run a stich down the inner or outer eam and in tuen that will make you suit tighter, 5 mintues work if you have a machine. Also is your fish hook the square type as it looks curved on my screen, maybe my screen though. Stick at it bud your nearly there, you will be the first with the new tweaks to become Lancer
  20. I do mine the same way 2 ply, but sew mine up and then turn them inside out and iron flat to loose the external stitching which gives it a cleaner look in my opinion ;0) Yours are pretty darn neat though bud
  21. I posted your boots today aswell, they should be with you in about 3-5 days
  22. The Altmanns is a much bigger bucket than the MLCv3 its alot more rounded looking, I can get my head in mine without liftng the visor where as the MLC only just fits on my head wih the visor lifted. Height wise their about the same.
  23. Nah that is how Altmans are mines the same with the seperate dome / back.
