Kashyyyk Trooper Gloves Discussion
Heatshock replied to Acrylikhan's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Soft Parts
1. I'd go with Tom suggestion, kinda 2 lengths, short and long 2. not bothered, atlhough top shelf might make overall cost lower and more amenable to more troopers 3. I too am thinkng of a $50-$100 range 4. customs regulations - dammit? even to UK? would material be the factor or the fact there are greeb's on it? If its a question of leather - then I refer the honourable gentlemen to the answer I gave in no.2. The other issue is... for non-US troopers, is there a standard glove sizing you use? I recently got a US biker glove sized M that fit perfectly, although I usually wear a L in UK cheers Frank Nate -
somebody know a good glove maker?

tell you wot tom - give me one from the 1st run and I will work on it ;P - joking, really, honestly!!! no need to hang ur head in shame mate. looks awesome. like the little details u are tryin to get into the lid as well. problem I think with tryin to make that hinge work, is that you will prob have to give up some of the perfect lines in a clone bucket. to date - I've had to cut off the neck seal off a AOTC clone trooper lid, and the face plate of a Cmdr Neyo lid. Clones are a right pain in the oink, but when u get the look right, its gorgeous ;D not sure how u guys feel, I use a modded Rubies, and the face-plate never sits right on mine. thinking of velcro or rare earth magnets to keep my lid closed properly. so - if the face plate has to be in a 1-peice on the KS lid, so be it man. -

lol no probs man. its wot cloners talk abt all the time rare earth magnets - lots of pull in little magnets. cos of the seamles CGI look of the clone troopers, clone armour guys have had to do little tricks to get teh look. most often its used in lids, as clone lids all have lips on them, which would make it impossible to get ur head into one. so cut offs are done eg face-off, neck-seal off, and re-attached using magnets. the other thing is the fornt and back armour. ANgelo - rght idea, but think Tom is right; armour should not only be lifted off shoulder, but follow the contour of the shoulder still. Torment - correct me f I am wrong. Nate -

rofl - I surf over on CT.net quite often Torment, so gotta respect the man whose building the clone army, 1 clone at a time! angelo - yeah the bells do float a bit on the clone armour I would be a smite careful with removing the return edge, as its nice to have that lip darn mike and his skinniness ;P old world fix as already mentioned - shimmin could work too. actually, nah the armour looks all wrong on u, send it to me and I'll see wot I can do mate -

oooo THE torment - hey man from a wannabe clone ;P aside from return edges to the front and back pieces - how abt rare earth magnets to keep the 2 halves together as well? looking good angelo. glad I could help in my own small way ;P Nate -
pm'd u back Angelo!

nice to know mate also to clarify a point - the desert bdu's I sent u are genuine army surplus, and are poly cotton mix Tom; or at least so says the seller rofl from the original poster - in UK we use = DYLON Wash & Dye Instructions interestingly was reading its instructions: original post also said he experimented with both shirt and trouser together with 1/2 a packet (ie 200gm of dye) and a full packet. it was the full packet that worked. also when buyin from UK - S95 ans S2000 patterns are basically the same, but S2000 is a thicker material. both are poly cotton AFAIK any1 needing help sourcing fatigues let me know

interesting thought just a little point from the clone trooper world though 1 method people use for weathering in a pure white clone is to do a black layer, then white. then sand through the white to the black layer. other method is like the sandtroopers do - with topical application, but again its dirt (fullers earth) and black mostly. the layer technique seems to be reserved for the weathering on the coloured parts of clone armour. in the pure white clones - dont think any of the armour scratched down to a silver layer. in fact - should there even be a silver layer in clone armour?? in my one track clone mind - I hadnt even thought of havin a silver layer discuss!

hooo ray for short trooper!!! 5'9'' here nice work angelo will let u know abt dpms asap Nate -
whoops just found ur post here mate - thanks Frank. the bdu I was talking abt was mentioned in the soft armour section in thread by TB5994. I have posted there too abt a little experiment on dyeing I hope to do pretty soon. soz abt delay troopers - been a nasty week for family here in UK. man - thats a lot of clay!!
-
woah this thread has moved along a bti since I last checked in new builds, recastiing - all the usual gems to stir up the forums! agree with Tom - think most of us have bought a recast item by mistake. but most of us show some remorse or embarassment abt it rather than to point newbies to where to get one. It may be a language barrier thing - but I think thats wot got peoples back up. I watched the whole original vs recast question in Mr Bungles thread - and it was done in a very adult way, no shouting, just piccies to prove points. And now thats done Tom's got the support of the community. Piccies of clay in almost completed state arent enough really. Masterson - one of ur original question was how do u know whom to buy from? well thats why these boards are here for. Theres also ur own research and education by more expereinced costumers. New builds often spark quite heated debate - especially if its from a new builder. Scrutiny and proof of work are the only ways to reassure a community like this. And so it should be.

ust so u don think I am playin favourites with forums I post on Tom mmmmmm I like - think that looks much better! also with it being flippy flippy, should make gettin it on to noggins' easier Nate ps btw - been meaning to ask abt the fett lid - when did u paint that one up? I remember the 1st lid.... well it WAS ur 1st lid ;P the current fett lid looks like a good ESB style though! -
right guys - with 3 potential new armourers on the horizon; thought I kick-start this thread again been searching round a bit at local army surplus as well - as all the dpm's I cna find are poly cotton. as its cheap (ish) for me to experiment; I plan to get a set of these and the dye metioned by tony in the 1st post and see how it does. bear with me. if it is a go - the ebay shop tony originally posted actually posts to US for not much more than a person-to-person post (hey Tom, I thought it would be ok; if ur stuff doesnt dye properly - my apologies) Nate
-
hey Frank - I've been helping out Tom with some of the soft bits and just talkin abt armour I know for a fact that he was hoping to use someone elses vac table rather than build from scratch - so any1 in alabama wanting to lend a hand, give him a shout out! also - as was in another thread, some one found UK desert BDU dyed works. any1 wanting some of this camo pattern, feel free to pm me as I am UK based Nate
