Opinions on possible donor boot
Heatshock replied to darren1970's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Soft Parts
it would probably do Darren. tbh, the CRLs are gonna be pretty loose on the boots cos the original base boot is now getting incredibly difficult to find. the closest to the look I found in the UK is this boot: http://www.panoramic-imaging.com/view_obje...e=ffHWbnhHYJVig link to the shop, its the PT05 boot: http://www.gladstoneboots.com/acatalog/Thr...ngth_Boots.html hope that helps mate -
great to hear man you know where I am if you needing to check over any of MBs parts Nate

hey dude - soz I have been away mate this is my dye job - http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?show...amp;#entry54022 my was only Dylon woodland brown. I resisted the black as I thought the colour looked pretty good on its own. not sure whether its cos I threw in a whole packet of dying salt (thei nstructions say it isnt necessary!). also it depends on the initial condition of the DPMs to begin with - mine were quite new, so I think took on much more darkness. I would start brown - and then darken as appropriate IMHO you have my mobile right? I am middle of my kst build as well, and should have some of the custom mix paint left over if you need; or perhaps...... armor party? Although with the KSt - its the samned soft parts which are the biggest headache. Just ask Skip lmk how it works out man Nate

hey michael nice to see you posting again hope you got my info on the bummerbund mate - nice to see the progress! agree with mosi abt the thigh pockets though - looks like they werent modified? Just the pockets ont eh original trousers moved forward? if I am not mistaken they should be 5inches x 7 inches with a different shape to em see - http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=5552 Nate

the base coat is ok - esp.ly once you do some black misting. its actually computer matched to a colour sample I got from MB himself the brown is ok too. but the green is a little drab (compared to Toms build and paint up skip); but is probably closer to the green in the high-res pic you posted a few posts earlier skip. But then again, if you use that pic as the ref, then the base coat is meant to be much greener, unlike the paler look you see on KSTs in the "out in the open" shots. the green colour that Tom recommended is the Floquil POG that is impossible to get in UK; although there is a nice mix with humbrol paints to get a close colour mix on TDH - its Terminal Fettlers thread on TDH think at the end of the day, its gonna be impossible for all of use to get identical colours for the camo (the closest being the brown and yellow seeing how they are readily available Tamiya paints). Its gonna be like the boots; very variable. What we as KST troopers (potential and otherwise) have to decide is... is each individual build colour choice is acceptable? Will it do - I think so!! But I am no GML. Tom - who do you think can decide of this rather important topic you think? Central 501st clone clearance? Or individual GMLs? Nate

the camo looks good the base coat always looks light at 1st glance - but the whole ensemble is put together , it often looks just right do up the whole armor - then put it on your dyed BDUs - and you will see what i mean

looking good there mate Nate

roger that Mosi - thanks for update! Nate
-
has anything come of this Mosi? thanks
-
thanks tom - see; it only took me over a year to get to this stage ;P Nate

hey Angelo thannks for comments 1st off - can you pls move this to the appropriate section, wanted it in soft armor instead ;p posted the pics cos I couldnt decide on the shade. remember - the pic is taken in bright natural light shining through it - lovely English weather for a change! I compared it to several - its darker than Tom's original dye job. Lighter than Mosi's. Abt the same as yours, but the pics I have seen of yours was done either on the floor or on your person ie darker background. will continue with the armour and revisist the BDU once the colour matures a bit more. Nate

kashyyyk trooper/pathfinder 501st shirt discussion.
Heatshock replied to mrbungle's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper HQ
I was abt to say, would be nice to have a kinda "swampy" type back ground... some how I dont think Tom's back yard looks very kashyyyk like! I would also like a basic t-shirt behind - eg like black - so as not to detract from the Trooper himself Nate -
nice one guys congrats

hey skip - soz not posting sooner. also not had a chance to get you those pics - so so sorry mate pick an excuse of ur choice (1) ITS CHRISTMAS!!! (2) it would have all worked out except for those darn kids! (3) I was sick - too .... much.... snot..... *collapses* (4) I was drunk (5) I fell asleep looking at the colour, it looks really light IMHO; even for just a flash effect? have a look at Toms - http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=4659 - his is a brown + black combo he is the original poster - who is british and used DYlons Woodland brown only. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?show...c=2800&st=0 a wash with black might solve ur probs. although, it might be the polester vs cotton problem some others have had?

damn those are nice pics mate lol staring at them this close up - I was gettin crossed eyed. I see what you are talking abt. but cos of the nature of em, we are unlikely to ever get a 100% correct idea. I think Skips interpretation of the cummerbund is valid. We are generally goign for a 'look' rahter than real world accuracy right? so which ever it is - as long as there is an alternating fat/thin/fat/thin - think it shouldnt affect 501 basic acceptance? What you think Tom? I will be working with Skip btw to try and get at least 2 UK KST looking uniform

exacto knife should work - but I was just gonna dremel mine out looking god Chad

Jonathan - I understand all the excitement of a new costume. But seriously mate - its all in the research. Its even easier since theres only so few threads on KST boots at the moment. the exact name eludes me - as they are out of production anyways. They were called double buckle boots or GBX2s or something similiar. Thats a freebie - but my advice would be to read through all the available threads in the KST. Its all kinda new, and we are all still making suggestions. good luck in your research. the hunt for a more widely available boot is still goign on. Tom - nice goign amte I am still kicking myself at missing out on that deal on the TDH cest la vie
-
Chad - check out Mr Bungles stickied build of his armour ont he top of the page - - the base colour is a special mix of household latex paint. he even gives the exact colour mix. I have also foudn the colour match in UK for European troopers out there! Vodika - its looking good man. stop giving yourself such a hard time mate - its looks like it coming along really nicely! great job so far. And nice pouch designs too!!! Its ncie to see more and more stuff being made available for KSTs! Would be interested in the pouches too. You do realise that Angelo and Toms are like the BEST 2 KSTs out there ;P Nate

welcome to bsn colin I know its your 1st post, but BSN has strict regulations on WTB threads - please read the rules. as with other similiar forums - a bit of research will go a long way. its pretty obvious who the armourers are (*hint look at the sticky right on top of this very subsection you posted in mate*) it would be nice to see more clone interest in general and KST in particular in the UK! happy researching and armour building! Nate

oh yeah - thats looks loads better! Nate
