  1. Longtime coming and well desrved mate
  2. I think its the typical question of accuracy versus practicality the screen look is over-lapping of course, but that may not be possibelf or every1 dont think there are that many of us around yet to have a consensus opion - I'd say its ok But maybe shimming with a colour coded piece is also another good option Nate
  3. cheers angelo - been sitting on my arse long enough wanted to try something different with the pouches - for those scratch builders out there Nate
  4. Its a person called leah from leather mystics in the us. I have since used em for the custom work. Professional and gd comms. Its semi rigid foam, cos some of the shapes I wanted to maintain eg the curved edges etc. we use ultra high end computer.scrrens at work. I just grabbed the packaging foam from that. Thanks for comments. Nate
  5. almost got my cummerbund sorted. Tom - the one I got from you was too small. Or I was too big, so I am modding it to fit my girth new approach to the boxes - built out of foam (based on measurements from the CRL): cloth covered: cardboard flap to give thickness to the flap: then put some stitch detail into the boxes: camo cloth covered the boxes - guess you could skip the 1st step, but didnt wasnt sure if this would work, so I used beige first. When the finsish was good enough, I repeated with the camo cloth. my commissioned glove with Acrilykhan greeb - thanks for Mosi for the link, the leathersmiths you recommended were top notch!
  6. weathered the armour and helmet some what - black and brown misting + lacquer
  7. back to the armor..... been busy looking for colour matches and finding time to paint. base tan/green coat over the chrome and masking fluid removed next layer of masking and darkish grey (Humbrol no 79) recommended by Fett painters in UK next.... its the damned camo .... polyscale Panzer Olive Green match is Humbrol no 78.... so once the grey layer is dried and ready, the green goes on then the brown - Tamiya Flat Earth Brown as recommended by Mr Bungle a few close ups
  8. bondo'ed and ready to sand started prepping the parts that didnt need bonding together: sanded with 120 grit, washed and ready to paint: some base layer painting. Now I know some of you guys are real quick and have dedicated spaces to work. Unfortunately, between work, kids and limited space - this took me abt 3 days to get to this stage. Day 1 - primer, Day 2 - the black on the inside of the helmet and armor, day 3 - layer of chrome I have also removed all the pockets from my BDUs and dyed em with the Brown
  9. well, dear friends have already had their eyes cursed with my build so thought I would unleash my version of the KST on my Deatchment mates ;D this is all freash MB kit from his very 1st run, which I am still very roud to have been on took my time getting the visor on just how I like it. glue, bondo, sand - repeat did all the bits that Tom suggested on his orignal - even the back filling between the back edge of the visor and the front edge of the bucket. Cut bigger "sun-roof" detailing. Back filled the corners between the visor and the lid; so it looks mroe like ur V1.5 Tom. Backplate - next up The new kits of course now come all assembled standard seamless assembly - just the bicep for example
  10. I remember fr tom's 1st build a while ago. I think it was 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches by 3/4 inches may hav changed since then
  11. soz darren back from teh dead now hmmm nice progress, man you are quick!! I have done up to the chrome phase, and just masking for the dark grey (think I am working inside-out and you are working outside-in for the silver bits?) btw - what are you doing to your boxes? I know you got Dmitiris foam boxes; and I am sure Chad did too. There was a another discussion on here (skip started it I am sure?) abt cloth coverage on the boxes (as are Tom's). Was just wondering what are you gonna do with yours? Mine are actually made of cloth, and was gonna paint on em
  12. soz mate - been buys over the holidays just a quick one on the colours (1) the brown matches as its the colour that is stated in Tom's build thread (2) the yellow a isnt part of the base coat, but there was a discussion of the presence of the yellow as part of the camo pattern in the high res pics a year ago, and it no longer is. NO YELLOW NOW!!! (3) as for the citadel green - its a good match mate! been wondering how to get around this. there is a humbrol colour mix that the Fett boys use to replicate the Polly scale, Panzer Olive green that I was thinking of using (damn you Tom, it was Fett that made you choose this colour isnt it, near impossible to find in the UK!!!) (4) not use where the Tamiya khaki drab came from?
  13. download the MG34 plans from blasterbuilder use yor preferred method of building the stock - I used cardboard, sintra and bondo: 2/3s of the blaster is pvc piping and pine wood make for it pretty light weight. I scratch built the detailing bits they are the best or the most accurate, but will do for a trooping blaster. Might put em through some silicone if there is enough interest? not quite done, but getting there tbh my stock is too fragile as is at the moment, I was thinking of casting just the stock - nto sure in resin or in polyurethan foam - just for other budget builders to attach their pvc and wood to
  14. errr.... no pm? but fd the retailer sells online too http://www.wynsors.com/doug-p-19992.html for out cousins over the pond - lmk if there are problems. Happy to act as an intermediary if there are problems with overseas shippin Nate
  15. good luck dude just to let you know though; they may be bed stu's mate - but the sole arch still isnt the right one? if you are looking for a can-do boot; well then.... it will do

  20. john sorry abt delay mate - you got to do a run of these helmets guys I am the lucky so-and-so in possession of prototype 2 of this lid have a whole lot of pics to follow comparing modded rubies, KS and LW lid. Unfrotunately I recently sold my Altmann's loving the new dimensions yes, a few minor things to iron out, but as is, it is so much better than whatever is out there at the mo I have doing a KS rebuild as one I got a while ago was in state which wasnt pointed out during the point of sale. Ho hum. but fortunately, that allows for easy comparison. The full helmet is the modded Rubes. Grey the KS and white kit the LW guys, johns work speaks for itself. who here, would not buy this helmet in its current state, even mroe so when John tweaks it a little more?!!
  21. ncie - pm inbound mate
  22. Hey Daren looking good mate. I suspect that your BDUs probably look darker than that in Natural light - might want to take a pic in natural light for comparison 1st, as you dont want it too bright. is it gonna be Mark thats judging the colour of the BDU's? Unfortunately it isnt a prespricptive - use X then Y combination due to the different dyes and wear on the respective dyes. Shoes looking good mate, not perfect, but aside from Toms (who got a nice reproductive kc pit crewes *mutter mutter mutter*); no ones is. might want to grind away some of that detailing on the sole - but thats personal perference rather than affectnig clearance I think. btw what are you gonna use for gloves? I got the email for the contact Mosi made for his gloves if you want#? Nate
  23. Acrilykhan makes the greeb or mosi has a link to a custom glove maker who will take the greeb from Frank and make into your ordered glove? they have been very friendly and reply quick, even though I am based in the UK Nate
