  1. it will depend on your own GML I would say mate personally, I think its a little too "busy". The boot in the ref pics is a lot simpler, and you may just have to cover the detail with maybe some marine vinyl or leatherette? mind you, I have seen people clear with less accurate boots before. The CRL for the boots is wide open at the mo' and you may have to compromise on the look for practicality if you have bad ankles.
  2. its interesting abt the alice clips as I was gonna do it way back when, but was told it wasnt cannon lol I am upgrading my TD soon, with the new greebs. Might convert to a ALIce clips this time round Nate
  3. (1) I too had the paint mixed up specially in the UK. I used it slighty watered down with a good quality brush to reduce streaks. 2-3 layers, some light sanding again to get rid of the streaks. Fossil rattlecan works well too, but misses out on the subtle green tint that the custom mix has. (2) I used E6000 to match the flexibility of the rubber parts - I presume you mean the belt? (3) standard automotive rattle can. I rubber some acetone on the rubber and lightly sanded it. Although I think JUST lightly sanding would do too. The black holes in the inserts in the belt I brushed on (4) Zap-a-gap or another high quality CA glue. E6000 works fine too (5) drop boxes should be wrapped in multi-cam camo cloth and appropriately weathered with black and grey misting Nate
  4. ah the fun begins Nate
  5. nice work man, lmk if you need a helmet; this is the one I made
  6. definately doing a run. Its my personal kenneth coles donated to the project. They are very nice. But cannot beat a bargain mate, $50 magnums would be easier on the pocket than $200 shoes! Would be an easy mod too.
  7. hmmm depends on what you are planning on going to do. the strip further away looks ok, but you need a broader one closer to you. The flare of the gauntlet looks pretty wide, and needs to be brown. anything is possible with enough modding, but if you are goign down that route, you may wish to get a cheaper (biker gloves arent cheap!) simple black glove and build up from it?
  8. Nice, more pics the better!!
  9. (1) ears - yep; thats what I did with mine (2) ammo pouches - the high res pics actually show a different camo pattern, and they ARE cloth covered. What most of us use is standard multi-cam pattern, misted with grey white and black. NOT definately required, but I highly recommend you go down this route. Some older cleared kashyyyks have just the same pattern painted on boxes. Once we figure out the CRL, I am sure this will be phased out Nate
  10. nice one mate Alabama garrison - isnt that the home of the Kashyyyk Trooper ;P
  11. got mine too - cheers lots Matt - love it I need to get some trading cards posted of myself so I can trade em!! hope u had a merry x'mas and happy new year. Darren - we need a duo shot now - remember to bring it next troop! Nate
  12. Dude! Are u in alabama? go round and look at mr bungles boots, its a replica, but hes got a pair of boots that are a dead ringer for the original kc boot!! crls abt the boot are the loose-est for any cossie as no alternative is readily available. Until that changes as long as u get the colour right, ie white body, tan soles, it will prob pass. I have a thread on here to do a simple mod to get the look of the arch. Check w ur gml though, cos unless its changed recently, it WAS mr bungle himself
  13. Oops never got pm, email returned mate. ARFs are cool Nate

  20. Congrats to Todd #18! You wear it well mate. Colleen, you 2nd set of pics were looking gd, cant see a problem with clearance! Nate
  21. Right guys - added a new section in the Getting Started thread http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=8570 vendors and makers - if there are mistakes, requesting additions or removals pls contact me direct Nate
  22. looking good guys, nice to see a couple trooping together. colleen - tbh, you look a little small for the cossie even with the mods, but the overall look is convincing enough. You cant always have everything eg I am a little fat for my KST! small point on both yours and Todd's box placement. And it is small mind you. In the front, the distance between the smaller rectangle box and the longer/taller box looks a little wide. And the from the back, the spacing between the letter shaped boxes looks a little wide. As no fixed CRL exists at the mo for this cossie, I cant see it as clearance issues though. Good goign both of yer! Nate
  23. I used left over foam from work, but any soft-ish material is good to go measurements from here http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=1651 and plans here: Now remember, the measurements are only a guide, depending on you height and size, you may have to upscale or down scale the pouches to get the right look - go back to your source material! I cut the foam to shape then you apply the fabric cover. What you should be using is US multicam. I used beige here as I was experimenting now I glued the backs onto the foam, but the seams were all stitched. measure out the flap in a firmer material - I simply used cardboard re-cover with fabric again, stitch or glue - up to you. This is what it looked like complete I up-scaled my boxes slightly in the end, and this time covered the foam with correct multicam cloth remember the pouches need 'smudging' with misting of white, grey and black Nate
  24. my generic mod of the sole of the shoe I used E6000 in the UK. Its almost the same stuff as GOOP in US. The glue takes a full 24 hours to cure. But after abt 4-6hrs, its still malleable and shapable. I found a nice generic donor boot and outlined the enhanced arch. I squidded some of the glue out on a plate and left it to cure for 4-6 hrs, so it was still sticky, but not runny any more. then I applied the glue to this area, and shaped it as in the pic below. Full 24 hrs cure later, the glue is very adherent and takes paint well. with my armour, white body and tan soles
