  1. My Rain gauntlets also have black lining on the inside. Interesting! Love that magazine clipping. So cool.
  2. Looks great man! Glad you are happy with it!
  3. Congrats Mickey! Its a great year to be a Pathfinder. Thankful for the work that Jim has done all these years...what a terrible loss. Walter and I have got the Bay covered.Walter, you're the man! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  4. Bummer. I've more or less given up on finding the actual screen used shoe, but at least I've got the next best thing! Hopefully in the future we might get more info and how they acquired the screen used shoes.
  5. Awesome. I'm intrigued to see what's in there! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  6. The Rebel soldiers on Endor also used these boots without any sort if modification. Some photos exist online from exhibits of that costume. There is also a book that was recently released thats simply called: "Star Wars Stormtroopers: Beyond the Armor"... In that book there are some photos of the Scout that I believe haven't been seen before until that book was released... I think there's a photo of the boots on one of the scouts, where there are no horizontal ridges visible. If that's true, can someone confirm this? Does anybody have that book? Because if it's known and seen that some had the ridges and some didn't then maybe a few different versions of the boots were actually used. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  7. I think I can do that! I don't currently have them though. They're at a friend's place. As soon as I get them back I'll see what I can do. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  8. I do have a pair of the boots! Mine are small at a size 7 (Though I can still squeeze my feet in). Ive been heavily researching the origins of the boots as well as how the original boots were put together. From what I've gathered, the Sierra Sneaker IVs were likely an iteration of the boot produced either during the production of ROTJ or after. This was around the time that INTER as a brand merged with Hi-tec. So the screen used boots were most likely an an earlier INTER version in the "Sierra Sneaker" line. I found an image online of a page from an issue of Backpacker from 1981. It listed Inter-footwear USA as having a shoe titled: "Ranger III Sierra Sneaker". I believe that those specifically may be the actual screen used boots. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  9. There's actually a thread on here from way back...over 10 years back I think where someone did just as you are proposing. Long story short, the company was totally for re-making the sneakers if they had enough guaranteed interest, BUT the original molds were destroyed in a factory fire of some sort. No joke. So...possibly if a pair if the originals were supplied to them they might be able to replicate them. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  10. Hmmm....what gauge is that? The problem I see is that it seems too thick a gauge, and it's also missing the correct shape of a split cable. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks bud! Glad to have this info in one place. I'll be tweaking my pre-assembled helmet as best I can soon! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  12. Looks like a good start! I believe the original leather had different thickness for the shoe covering and the shaft. Thinner for the shoe and thicker for the shaft. Both were then sewn directly to the boot with cobbler sewing machines. I've been working with Strider and Boris here on the forums to find some good leather for Strider and I's Sierras. Boris is quite experienced with leather! We actually have a thread in the boots forum called "white leather" where we've been periodically discussing options. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  13. You do have to specify for FedEx shipping through Etsy. Good to hear about eBay as well! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  14. Christian has also made some kind of deal with FedEx recently (according to his Facebook) which makes it even easier for him to ship through Etsy. So if buying from him, only do it through Etsy.
  15. I'll post this here as well, now that it's in the right spot... Head on over to the Boots forum for more info on how people are cutting their soles. The originals had an additional horizontal line through the middle of the sole: The Sierra Sneaker IVs were produced in 1987 (according to the box of the shoes themselves) much past the production of Return of the Jedi, so the original shoes were likely the 1st, 2nd or 3rd iteration of the Sierra Sneaker line, under Hi_Tecs previous title; INTER-USA. Even some of the Sierra Sneaker IVs I've seen are branded "Inter" and not "Hi-Tec", making the originals even harder to find. The previous iterations had the horizontal line on the sole...here are some (terrible) photos from an Endor Rebel trooper: So the next question is...How do you mod the soles without destroying a rare piece? Truthfully I have no idea. Strider suggested cutting a piece of silicone to the right size and affix it onto the shoe, but you would need to paint it the proper color. It will be impossible to find an exact match. but I think it's worth trying!
  16. I'm glad they're helpful! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  17. I know recasting is frowned upon, but making slight changes in material, and making kits, we could get these out to more people and collectively bring up the detachments level of accuracy.
  18. I think I spent the most time on my knees. I mostly used the Bluray screengrabs and MotM exhibit photos as reference. Here's a link to my BluRay screencap gallery: http://imgur.com/a/s0NiX
  19. Just (FINALLY) updated the thread and recovered the photos. Let me know if anyone has questions!
  20. I think it would be in their best interest to offer the helmets as kits. They could offer them at an affordable price and it would finally allow for Scouts to get accurate helmets. Here's to hoping Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  21. Im sorry to hear about another story of disappointment. From what I understand my helmet was part of wave 2... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  22. I'll be there from the 9th to the 16th I think. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  23. True. Even knowing about all the issues people are having as well as my own problems with my helmet, I would still buy it again! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  24. I'll be in LA in September.... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
