I know this part is still uncertain, I was looking at the screen grabs, again, and thought it looked a bit like two of the square pieces off the T bits on the bicep armour[ not the tank pieces]. I am still guessing but could not see how it is the three wee tank topper details in that particular screen grab at least. Any screen grabs in hi def?

The eyes were all cut slightly differently on the originals, your eye area is too triangular and more could be cut out, My older lid with the Star Wars in Concert lid, the eye area is cut out very large as seen here, My new lid beside a KS like yours, see how there is a slight bulge around the eye area, Another on my faceplates, cut out slightly less but still a more rounded shape, You can see here from an angle just how far down to the base of the eye area that has been cut out, poor picture I know. Refer to the excellent gallery pictures of the helmet for a better understanding or have a look at Star Wars Helmets, Jez's site, it has a few great pictures also, hope this helps.

Looking good Tom, it appears you could shape the eye section a bit more on your helmet.

Thanks mike, good wee thread, sorry I missed it first time round.

Has anybody ever made the black holdall that one of the Biker Scouts is holding in the initial Endor scenes? It looks like an off the shelf kit bag of some sort. I know that trooping with a kit bag over my shoulder would be pretty daft and I suspect the general public would never remember Biker Scouts ever holding black handbags but this is canon, DLT 19's, concept rifles,Nerf guns,E 11s, pauldrons, garrison decals etc etc are not in the movie. It could be handy for holding stuff, anyone got nice screen caps of this bag? Thanks.

I know that without your extensive research into this costume I would have been completely stumped whilst helping Borotrooper[Michael] with his Kashyyyk Trooper costume. I also know that your costumes are top knotch, you have never sacrificed quality or rushed out any of your costumes. Skip you are Kashyyyk Trooper number 1 over here, you should be very proud of your costume

Hi Rich, the Rubies is a great wee helmet , it is very accurate but a bit small. Vinyl stickers are best for trooping, very hard wearing and rarely peel off, the better ones are very thin. No trim at base. Take a long time looking at the originals for guidance. Frank has a tutorial here, his lid looks great. I would cut the faceplate "cheekbones " away about about 9mm , try not to angle the nose section in too much, templates available. The Rubies has a bad habit of collapsing betwwen the bottom nose/eye section and the brow section,I suspect this is why there is a strengthening piece of vinyl at this point. If this happens even slightly then the jaw line will be wrong and ugly. The main helmet piece collapses in every plane, it is a big wobbly mess, get the base shaped nice, approximately just big enough to slip your head into ,using wire or flat bar.then the two front edges should be strengthened to keep it from curling in on itself. Now the visor, the most difficult thing to get to sit nice, if the faceplate is strenghtened and correct, with the slightly cut cheekbones then the visor should pull in to a nice angle . It can look brilliant but if it all goes wrong you will have learn't a bit more about Biker Scout helmets and possibly how rubbish some glues really are

TB 4595 Requesting Lancer Deployment

Sorry Bob, I thought this was a new rule to have it, "Scope modified to portray working scope" is written in tje optional section, it can be removed easily if it is a problem. -

Upgraded to new lancer specifications. I also changed various parts of my armour which I wasn't happy with. Thanks for your patience. -
Well done Amanda.

Just got new decals made , now a bit bigger, the three brow lines were too thin in comparison to the original. I spent yesterday making a sculpt/mould for the chin cup and vacformed a few this morning,
-
Yes Carlsten, I agree, the eye area has been tricky, I now have two steps in the mould, the actual problems are trying to get the vacformed piece to look the same as the original, some of the nice curves at the eyes are the way the plastic curls over the mould.Thanks.

Quick tip - SC belt assembly
lonewolf replied to ozarkscout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
With the SC belt , the best, most accurate way to join the separate boxes to the main belt is by glueing them with plastic weld glue , overlapping them.Your local Plumbing supplier will have the best type of solvent cement, look for a type that is suitable for PVC-U,ABS and MUPVC. I used two tiny bolt /locknuts on my first belt but would advise folks to go the glue route for this type of belt, it is as strong as a one piece belt. Rivots at this section are not screen accurate. -
Here are some pics of the inside

This is made of varying thicknesses of exterior plywood and 3" timber for structural support. I initially scaled it with the model Clone Wars toy as it was a stronger design to build in comparison to the actual movie design. The pieces were hand cut out and with the help of the other prop builders we built it up. Another Garrison member[ our CO] painted the whole AT RT. We were very happy with the finished result then we decided to do another two! It is a shame we only had one Kashyyk trooper , I was very happy to be allowed to troop in the costume for a while, I will try to get some pics up, glad you all like the AT RTs.

The Lancer spec is that it is not as big as the inaccurately sized Kenner toy/recast versions,it shouldn't have a trigger so that leaves you with quite a lot of choice, the KS falls into this catagory.

Sorry Paul,I have always used my eyes for this, any wee flaws are unnoticable unless you are being very fussy. I suppose you could make a template to draw round first , then apply the tape to this line. I think other guys will need to explain this if they have tried this method. Use the actual nose shape to curve the tape round, good quality stuff doesn't stretch as badly and is still soft enough to do the curve, if it kinks as you do the curve you can use a hair dryer to soften it i bit so it sits down and flat . Sorry it isn't technical in any way
-
Yes I see this very clearly, here is the excuse , this is not the lid I used to copy when I was cutting out the eye area, I used the Star Wars in Concert lid which has a distinct higher middle cut along the top edge. Yes the angles are different, the camera etc etc but yes it looks a bit too curved, I will try to get some better pics up when I get a complete sticker set and try to match up a few pictures from various angles, in the hope it gets closer . This lid is no. three, no. Four is better put together and the visor is a bit further out as well but it still has this eye shape I will get around to this improvement when time allows, thanks.

Hi Dan, there are three versions, TB,TK and TD, they go for approximately 40 minutes each, silent gaps in the recordings and sound bites, general chit chat, some applicable jokes, quite good effect especially if you have a Rom FX or equivalent. Download them off the 501st site onto a cheap mp3 player, it is pretty cool. http://upload.501stlegion.org/audio/

Here are some pics of my new helmet if this helps any,
