Bill's ROTJ Biker Scout Build

Recommended Posts

Vest sleeves are trimmed and hemmed based on yesterday's suit up. Hopefully a little adjustment while suited up does the trick. I also made cardboard inserts for the pouches. They will crush eventually but can be easily replaced.20240218_143743.jpg20240218_143836.jpg

Ok gang, these are NOT submissions photos. I still need to anchor the cummerbund and physically bolt the holster to the boot. I'm waiting to see if I can successfully stretch these, or if I need bigger ones. In the meantime, let me know your thoughts. 20240219_185254.jpg20240219_185053.jpg20240219_185112.jpg20240219_185139.jpg20240219_185034.jpg

The only item I see is that you might want to take some of the rigid reinforcement out of your chest boxes, as it's making them stick out at odd angles. This might also be addressed once you anchor the bund, so give it another look once that's done.

I had the same thought.

Based on Chopper's comment and the recommendation of my GML, I took out the stiff pouch liners and just added some batting to get that full, yet natural look.

Next, I made some suspenders for the cummerbund. Trooping as a TK and lots of other cosplays has taught me the value of suspenders. So I cut up some pant leg fasteners, measured some 1 inch webbing, and made suspenders build for the bund. This way, it's position isn't dependent on the vest. I'll let you know how it works .1708470962741.jpg

The adjustments never end! I like how things are sitting much better now. Part of the issue is the curvature of the bottom edge of the chest piece. I'll make due with it for now. Do the pouches sit better?

Obviously, you can see the suspender straps here. I'll probably reverse them so the adjustment clip is in the back. I'm also moving them closer to the center in the front and back. I might even criss cross them. 20240220_192839.jpg20240220_192848.jpg20240220_192909.jpg1708476202922.jpg

Pouches look way better now Bill.

The only thing that caught my eye aside from the pouches was the dog bones on the boot. They look like they are flaring out and are lifting away from the boot where the double stitch lines are. If they are flaring, a dab of e6000 to tack them down to the boot is an easy fix.

I'm going to attempt to stretch the boots a bit over the coming days. Once that's done, I have plenty of e6000 on hand ;)

I'll eventually post this in the trade forum once I achieve full access here. My hope is to submit for approval in the next couple of weeks.

I see that there was a run of ROTJ Scout related merchandise offered last year. Out of curiosity, are there any such items still floating around? Once I'm approved, I'd love to see what was offered!

Hi William. Most of those runs are closed but with a new year comes new merch. Once you're approved you'll have access to those new runs. In some cases folks are willing to trade items but that's somewhat rare. Keep up the great work on your armor and you'll be approved before you know it!

I'm busy adding all of the velcro to secure the armor pieces, but in the meantime, I got a new blaster .1708647158584.jpg

Hey Bill, just a FYI that the blaster should likely be okay for basic, as blasters are optional at that level, but the handle does look pretty off when compared to the screen refs and other blasters. Might want to check with your GML if they'll accept it.

Will do. If not, no big deal as it wasn't expensive

Well, I'm almost ready to send in submission pictures. I attached all of the anchoring velcro, and the boot stretching is underway. I'm sure that I'll have mods to do as I go, but I plan to get this finalized in the next few days .

I don't have space in my car for the large storage unit on wheels, so I'll make do with a couple of smaller units and a separate carrier.1708813249890.jpg

I have a few things to work out before going for Lancer status (flaring vest sleeves, detonator caps, etc). But I'm just about ready to crash into some redwood trees .

I'm guessing that this has been raised previously, though I didn't see it in the Lancer requirement post -- but the Kropserkel helmet (mine) has 9 indents in the lower right of the back of the helmet. Guess I'll need to trade out eventually if I want to advance.948bb1786dc51606a498284948b542ad.jpg

The sleeves on my vest are driving me crazy, lol. So I pulled out the hem and cut down the length. I'll add in a new hem line now and then taper the opening a bit.20240226_200520.jpg

Good call Bill. I had to make that same taper cut for my vest to eliminate the flare. End result looks good.
