Is this acceptable? The pouches have yet to be set

Compared with the SDCC Mandalorian photos, the cod fabric looks a little thin to me. You might want to add some thin batting in between the material, if possible.

Realized I got the cummerbund on upside down. Will add Velcro for the cod piece, and a pair to “tilt” the pouches. Gonna finish mounting the hip drop boxes later today.

Belt assembly completed. Using belt loops, so the webbing can be adjusted

Your belt looks great! The following is just a suggestion. As you troop, if you find that the elastic for your drop boxes keeps needing adjusting because it is sliding through those belt loops, then consider gluing the straps to the inside of the boxes to fix them in place instead.

I get what you mean. To prevent slipping, the straps are webbing non elastic. I loop them back into the 3 rung belt loop to prevent them from slipping.

Weathering the helmet. Prep surfaces react differently from unprepared ABS. The splash and wipe off method doesn’t work well.

After wiping off

So I have to work in small areas of the helmet and slowly blend them together

Chopper is this thick enough? I think it’s kinda packed now

That's looking pretty good. You can take a warm iron and smooth it out to give you that worn I just got out of the Dune Sea look. With Chopper being MEPD Deployed you got the right guy to give pointers on being dirty😁

Yes, as Pete said, you can try to smooth it out a bit with an iron, but otherwise you should be good.

Test fit, will need to tighten some of the elastic straps. Helmet needs a harness or tactical foam. Cummerbund needs altering and tea bath. 1b078849156b2f17c007300415e4b260.jpg

Left knee guard straps need shortening.

Any other advice and comments will be much appreciated.

Don't forget to give the drop box straps some weathering along with your bund. On my knees (ROTJ Scout) I use velcro to adjust it. You can always sew some hook to your straps and then apply adhesive loop to the insides of your knees. That way you can adjust the strapping to your comfort.

@Chopper created a great strapping primer here:

You can find some good ideas in this article.

Should i tea bath the straps or just dry brush? Ok will sew the soft side Velcro on the knees. Thanks for the tip

Glad to help. Checking the CRL it seems that the straps are hand weathered rather than "dipped" but you might want to check with your GML if you'd like to give them a deeper weathering. Also I think your buckles might be backwards from what the CRL states for them:

(4) black parachute buckles attach to the drop box straps, one on either side of the drop box:

  • Rear parachute buckles are threaded with the white webbing straps in front of the buckle.

Might want to give them a look against the CRL [https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Scout-Trooper-The-Mandalorian] to ensure they are configured correctly. Your build is going great so keep up the fantastic work!!
