  3. Thanks for the encouraging words! Started to fix the mess today. Glued some 1,5mm white ABS to the ear and roughly bent it into shape. After the glue dried I will add some ABS paste and some filler and sand it to shape afterwards. It will work out in the end! [emoji16] Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  4. Looks and feels like I’m doing one step forward and two steps back… wanted to bring the face a little bit more to the rest of the helmet and the heat of the heatgun was creeping under the heatshield and melted the plastic around the left ear… now I have to rebuild it… such a mess and really frustrating… Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  5. Congrats Jenny! Awsome build and inspiring for myself to get my stuff together and get the approval, too! 😄
  6. Found it on Amazon. I‘ll give it a try! Thanks for the tip! Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  7. Quick update… the week of is almost over and unfortunately I didn’t had the opportunity to really work on the bucket because wifey had different plans for our free time and I had to work in the garden… [emoji23] But well, I did another run with the ABS sludge. I’m almost there. I painted the Snout piece and the bolts and installed the ukswrath sound system. I sprayed the interior black because it looks much cleaner. I still have the 2inch black insulation tape laying around. When the sludge work is done need to polish the whole helmet. Still not sure how to do it… Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  8. I've bought a E-11 from imperial arms last year. Depending on the finish you choose you might not be 100% satisfied because of the printing lines. In total the E-11 is a little bit wonky especially the foldable stock. I guess this shouldn't be a problem with the EC-17 because it's small. With the DLT... I don't know. But that's two years ago maybe they improved their prints. Maybe the best would be to get the DIY kit and some spray primer and sanding paper this way you would at least get rid of the printing lines 😛
  9. I meant the tamiya color for the snout and the bolt. If this color would work? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  10. Alright, some progress was made. Still need to finish everything up but I couldn't resist and quickly put everything together. It was the first time I worked with ABS sludge. It worked pretty well. Still need another run maybe two and some more sanding of the whole bucket. The visor still needs to be adjusted and the snout area needs to be redone, but I've a week of at work so I might have some time to finish or almost finish the helmet. 😛 I've ordered some black Tesa 2 inch insulation tape for the helmet and some Tamiya XF75 for the snout and the bolts. Does the color look alright? First time wearing the scout helmet with visor down and glasses installed. Felt good! 😄
  11. In the netherlands you might get your hands on the Kappa boots. At least they are a good choice in germany. If you can't get them in the netherlands send me a PM and I could get them for you and send them to you. Zalando Web Shop
  12. Cut the earholes today. I used a small drill and drilled along the markings. Afterwards I used an exacto and sandingpaper to get the shape done. Still need to smooth all the edges a little more. Next will be attaching the dome to the sides. I'm a little bit unsure because of the gap between the dome and the back. I want to close it with ABS sludge anyway. Does anyone built a SC helmet lately? Is this gap looking ok to be closed with sludge or do I need to close it further?
  13. Ah, forgot to ask if there a specific color for the snout? The SC one comes all black. Should it just match the gray which is seen on screen or is there are RAL code or humbrol or whatever brand number?
  14. Thanks for the replies. Than I'll cut out the ears tomorrow and clean up the cut outs. It was a real pleasure, the interwebs is an awesome invention, isn't it? 😄 just hanging out with folks from all over the globe!
  15. And one more... I'm a little bit in a hurry today so I just quickly add the photos. Do the earholes look ok this way?
  16. Alright, after the virtual armor party, which was absolutely awesome and a reason why this detachment is top notch, I cut the visor area afterwards. I've tried to get the visor close to the RS helmet which I still have lying around here unfinished but it is of course physically limited because the SC helmet is smaller. It is still not finished but I wanted to share the first result to get some feedback if I'm on the right track. As you can see there are still some pencil lines and I guess that I still can go a little bit more downwards on both sides.
  17. I can only agree! But having to actually speak english after a long, long time was kind of hard. Writing is so much easier.. [emoji23] Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  18. Just picked up the SC helmet at the post office. Just in time before the armor party tomorrow. Looking forward to see some of you guys! Cheers
  19. Welcome and a lot of fun during the build! Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

  22. I had some spare time and so I quickly threw myself into the armor to get the alligment of the butt flap. My wife rougly measured my beautiful back 😛 and it came out that 30 x 30cm should be a good solution. Luckily I had plenty of sued left so I cutted out the flap and I pinned it down with some needles to get an idea of the look. When I'm looking at it, it is either of center or I need to make it a little bit smaller on the right side. The length is ok I guess. Still need to attach the elastic strap to the bound. Velcro should be a good idea? In general I still got the problem of the bound slipping down. So adding more Velcro to the bound and the armor should fix it. Does anyone ever tried to use hocks or magnets instead of velcro for keeping the bound and the armor in place. Nevermind the belt and the boxes, I still need to teach my wife to look for the details... 😄 I roughly marked the positions of the biceps and the forarm armor. I think the forarms are ok in this position but the biceps definately needs to come up a little more. I fixed the vest and now the neck opening is not visible anymore. Altough I made it symetrical the right sleeve still is longer than the left one. First things first. Hope that there are only some small things to do with the softparts to get basic approval Still some work to do... But my helmet is on it's way and hopefully the softparts are finished when it arrives so that there is just the helmet left to do.
  23. Yeah! Marked in my calender. Really looking forward! 😄
  24. Yes, I just was looking through some build threads and it’s interesting how different the SC helmet can look because of an odd looking eyeslot… Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  25. It's been kind of quiet here during the last weeks. Well, live happens and I got a lot of real life issues to get through (mainly work) and almost got no time to work on the project. But fortunately there are only some minor parts left to do on the soft parts and I need to finish the helmet. Speaking of the helmet, the RS helmet gave me some hard times because obiously I'm not the best handyman... 😄 Getting those two caps together nice and cleaning didn't work out as planned. Luckily I got my hands on a SC kit and this hits my skills much better... 😛 It's the final spurt and I want to get this build done. I'll keep the RS and finish it someday when I got more time. Just wanted to drop some lines to get me back onto the track! Cheers mates
