Mandalorian Scout Lancer drafting
MikerScout replied to BikerScout007's topic in Scout Trooper: "The Mandalorian" HQ
Looking at that picture close it looks like the cod and pouches are the same, or really close, but the bund is different Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk -

It would make things easier for the build but those pouches would be awfully floppy if they were just that thin cotton Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk -

Mandalorian Scout Lancer drafting

After zooming in it looks like the cummerbund is twill. The weave is diagonal. Someone could ask steph, she would know. The cod and pouches definitely looks like two different fabrics to me. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk -
Mickey, he's been messaging me back and forth on Instagram. I suggested he make a post here. I believe the issues were Incorrect sleeves on the vest belt should not connect with a buckle (which we could not find in the CRL) Incorrect dog bone on the boots and incorrect hem That's all I know about.

@BikerScout98 This is the place to be! You should get some good solid feedback on what's good to go and what needs work. I'm certainly no expert but I'll do what I can to help. We realize you paid good money for a product that is "CRL ready" but keep in mind things are rarely "CRL ready" out of the box despite what the seller says. The good news is you are off to a great start with some good kit. As we talked about, some of the things that need to be fixed are probably fairly simple. The key is to be patient, work though the advice given and just roll with it. You'll be approved soon enough. I would recommend printing off a copy of the CRL and going through your gear and checking off things that are good to go and highlighting things that need work. Come back with questions and work the process. The guys here are pretty good about explaining what the issue is and what the fix is. You won't hear "your dog bone is wrong" and that's it. Usually they will tell you what is wrong and why, then give a tip or two on how to fix it. If you're still not sure, ask..."how can I fix this?" they will walk you though the process. I also would look though some other WIP threads and even the lancer applications for common issues and how people fixed them. You're not first person doing this and those threads are a wealth of information. I'll look though some of these pictures tonight after work, I can't bring up the links from here. When possible share the picture not a thumb nail.

Studio creations bucket help. Lancer hopeful.
MikerScout replied to Hiker Scout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Yes BUT.... I had issues with it. It left the ABS soft in places where it got trapped between the layers and really made a lot of work for me. I think the Rust-oleum and or the bondo reacted it with it as well. I ended up using J-B Weld Plastic Bonder to fill the seam and probably should have used that to glue the top and bottom together. I can't speak on ABS paste as I have never made it. I posted some of my issues in my WIP thread in the mandalorian section. -
I need a voice! The amplified TKs made me jealous. I did a search but I think I am using the wrong terms. What are some helmet audio/speaker options for us? Little volume.. distortion?

[woobiee] 1st and New build! (Lancer probably)
MikerScout replied to woobiee's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
I had to tweak my chest armor near my shoulder. I was able to put it in boiling water long enough to soften the ABS for the bend and the E6000 on the strap didn't let go. Just a thought -

Size guide for Wampa Wear gloves...
MikerScout replied to RZill's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
@RZill WAIT.... checking my size with a tape puts me at a "large" (9 inches). but my gloves are XL and I wouldn't want them any bigger. I would say if you are close to the next size go up. -
Size guide for Wampa Wear gloves...
MikerScout replied to RZill's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I ordered gloves from them years ago and used their size guild. My gloves fit... like a glove. That said I wear a large "mechanix" brand glove and my wampa gloves are XL. Hope this helps. https://wampawear.com/sizing/ -

Wooo! Thank you guys! It's been a blast! Sorry I was hounding you @Chopper... I was having a "are we there yet" moment. What a month August has been and off to fan expo boston for a birthday present next week. I can't wait to do some troops! -
ahh that blows. Might be able to glue a piece in and re-rivet it, maybe with a piece of plastic as backer? Hopefully someone with more experience and brain power than me will chime in with a more solid idea.

I found an easy way to remove some of weathering if you use oil paints!!! Christina ( TKZombie ) warned me about painting and the risk of difficulty in removing it. As you may note both Christina and I used Windsor & Newton artists oil paints in our weathering (this was Christina's brain child). The paint is awesome and very durable. I'll be using it to weather again for sure. Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. Some Meguiar's PlastX made short work of it. You can easily strip small sections or entire panels with ease. I have no doubt you could tape off areas to form hard edges too. This stuff can be found in the automotive cleaning isle at Walmart in with the wax and stuff, or any local auto parts store like NAPA or AutoZone. To use, just dab some on and smear it around with your finger or a foam brush, the layer doesn't need to be thick at all. Let it sit for 20 or 30 seconds and wipe it off with a paper towel. Let it sit longer if the paint is thick. Wipe the area with a wet paper towel to clean off any residue left behind. Boom! You're done, that easy. EC-17 Foam Blaster?
MikerScout replied to MikerScout's topic in Scout Trooper: "The Mandalorian" Weapons/Accessories
Ahh excellent point! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk -
There is a kids con here in Maine I was thinking of attending with my son in early November. One of the rules is "No fake or realistic prop guns. Only paper, cardboard, or foam made non-projectile prop allowed". I am thinking I need to make an EC-17 out of EVA foam? Do you guys have any suggestions? Maybe some of you have made a foam blaster?

Any of you going to Fan Expo Boston? I really want to try to go. It looks like there are quite a few people from the New England Garrison working it. I'm new to all this costuming stuff and frankly have never been to a "Con" of any kind. If you are not working the event, what do you just show up in your gear and attend in costume? Sorry for sounding like someone's out of touch dad but.... that's kind of how I feel here.

Check out my build in the Mandalorian WIP section, it's Studio Creations head to toe. Also Miker_Scout on instagram and I just put up a HUGE bunch of photos on imgur https://imgur.com/user/MikerScout/submitted SC's customer service was great. I got the armor quick and he answered every single question I had right away. I'd buy from again in a heart beat
