Remnant scout questions
Aradun replied to Vmax1974's topic in Scout Trooper: "The Mandalorian" Armor/Helmet
Keep in mind that zip ties were used in the film and that displays can vary because the costume, if an original set or production piece, is nearly 40 years old and probably repaired. I would stick with the zip ties. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Mark, not trying to dissuade you bud, but your vest was an decent investment. Consider adding a 2” piece around the existing opening to fill it in and narrow the neck opening. I’ve actually seen a couple of vendors actually make it that way. The sleeves should be an easy fix with a little hem work. Your sewing buddy should be able to help you “fix” your existing flak vest. Either way, fixing it or starting from scratch, you’ll be putting that new machine of yours to good use [emoji6]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just received word from RS Props this morning. BBB day is on the horizon! They’re assembling my commission this week and are looking to have it shipped in the next two weeks. Hot diggity! Can’t wait! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes. I can’t remember where I pulled this from as I sourced it a long time ago. Could be buried in this forum somewhere or online elsewhere. But you will have to cut it too fit properly. I found the 10.25 inch width to be too wide for my size 10 Kingman Boot. It created too much overhang that draped over the sole of the boot. I think I trimmed mine back to the first stitch line on either side. Print it out on paper and then carefully trim it to size. It should come either to the sole or slightly above it as in the originals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’d find that real helpful too. Wink wink nudge nudge [emoji6]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You can certainly wait until you have your armor on hand as that would be the ideal, but as the cummerbund is now a set height of 8-9” you can pretty much make it without armor. The overall length is what will vary from scout to scout, as how much material is needed to wrap around one’s midsection will vary. Using your old canvas material to make a mock up is a great idea which will allow you to fine tune your measurements for a perfect fit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sorry if I confused you. By “pattern” I meant the one you make. As Bikerscout007 stated the riding patches are going to vary widely from one scout to the next due to size. Even if you found a pattern you’d likely have to adjust it to fit you. I started my pattern using Bikerscout007’s measurements in this thread, sketched them out on my undersuit with chalk and then adjusted the measurements to my fit. The nice thing about using chalk is that you can “erase” the line with a damp cloth and adjust accordingly. Once I had the pattern sketched out in chalk I posted some pics for feedback, made minor tweaks based on the feedback, and then created paper patterns using a brown paper grocery bag, which I then used to trace and cut out my pigskin leather. I have some photos of my process in my build thread. You can check out some other build threads to get a sense of how others may have done it. That really helped me out too. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21137-dennis-scout-wip-lancer/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mark, it doesn’t take long to get the basics down and then you’re off to the races. As M.J said, find some material to practice on so you’re comfortable when it comes time to adjust your soft parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking good Hoda. Just FYI, those detonator clips are also available on Amazon at a decent price. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07MR3CQCC/?coliid=I9C80S7S166H1&colid=17ZNF8WW4QACN&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don’t sweat the sewing. I never used a sewing machine prior to my build and things are progressing great. The under suit mods are fairly easy. The riding patches are a bit intimidating but with careful planning and good patterns you’ll be fine. It was easier than I thought. Be sure to check out various build threads to see how others did it and post up lots of questions and progress pics for feedback. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting into 3D printing. Would you mind sharing what printer you ended up purchasing and whose DLT-19x files you used for your build? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Awesome Mark. Looking forward to hearing of your approval, then on to Lancer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Test your technique on something, cardboard box, wood, etc. and experiment with distance. The closer you get, the heavier it will look, and if too close you’ll end up with running paint. It’s always better to go light and then build on spots than to go to heavy and have to sand it down. I love the weathered look, but am not a fan of weathering that looks like you have blaster shots all over your armor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
