  1. Just to chime in on this interesting discussion... When I take a look at the two reference pictures below I really can't imagine how the cod and the cummerbund could be one piece. Of course, you could sew the cod to the backpart of the bund but why do this as it would be much easier to sew it inbetween the bund (but which would look different). What I did with mine was to attach the cod to the back of the bund with some velcro in order to achieve the look of the reference pictures: Cheers
  2. Here are my results from dying the pouches and all straps: I left them dye for about 30min in black tea, however I found that the straps (which probably also consist of a synthetic) take much longer to take the color so the color differs from the pouches.
  3. Thanks, bro. Yeah, they are in the "OK / acceptable" range but yet they seem a bit out of proportion. I'd say maybe 1,5 cm in width and 1 cm in lenght. I think I'll just do them with those adjustments and see how they come out. Took me 3 attemps to get the cod piece to the correct proportions, lol. This is my reference:
  4. Thought I share a little update on my progress (still waiting for my RS helmet): I've fixed the issues mentioned above and sewed a new cummerbund. However, I've noticed my pouches are too big now so I'm going to sew smaller ones (about an inch) as well. Also I've dyed my pouches and all the straps using black tea. Interestingly, the different fabrics take different times to take the color, so next time I'll have to leave the straps in there for longer.
  5. I wasn't quite happy with my cummerbund so I decided to do a knew one; Next stop will be the pouches which I plan to adjust to my proportions and dye them to give them this authentic look
  6. Thanks, guys. I'll give it a try and post the results here. Any particular kind of tea? I guess black tea would be too dark, wouldn't it? Cheers
  7. Since it can be a bit tricky to find a webbing with just the right hue of beige I was wondering whether there are any "best practices" out there on how to dye the pouches? My first idea would be to use some kind of tee but then again I heard the results may be irregular...
  8. I would advise against using needles when you try to sew your patch to your flight suit. I've tried that first but the suede kept shifting a bit and I had to tear it all off again. I've used a map of vibre (not sure if this is the correct term) to iron the suede to the suit first. After that I've sewed it on using a zick-zack pattern to sew it. Hope this helps. Cheers
  9. Received a new message yesterday: "We have the first batch ready to dispatch soon and will be commencing work on the second batch straight after that. You're Biker Scout helmet is number 67 and will be in the fourth batch. We don't have an exact time frame at this moment but are looking at around a four month time frame for completion. Apologies for the delay and we are moving the biker scout helmets out as soon as we can. If you require any additional information in the meantime, please send me an email. Thanks Josh RS STUDIOS" Ive ordered beginning of October last year. My guess would be that if I'm real lucky the helmet will arrive around this Christmas.
  10. How do you guys know which place you are? I've asked Andrea but she has not gotten back to me. Seems all information she has is the one the guys put up on FB....
  11. I was a bit dissapointed when they showed a batch of TK helmet going out a few days ago on FB. Makes you wonder what their definition of "Top Priority" is as stated in their letter. According to the letter the first batch should go out this week...seeing is believing ;-)
  12. Yeah, same here. Let's see if they can accomplish it this time. My faith in their ability to deliver on time has grown rather slim.
  13. Well, I have ordered beginning of October but there are also people who have ordered in Jan 2015 I presume... Would be interesting to see what the final product looks like. So far I have only seen pics of the original which they bought.
  14. Has anybody received his RS bucket by now? Seems they've dispatched a batch just before Christmas...
  15. Thx, bro - me neither ;-) Should have taken one of Chef's helmet in the meantime...unfortunately I can't get my bikerscout approved wearing a Fett helmet, lol.
  16. Fantastic job, Manny!
  17. The boots were made by Marcel, so they are def. Lancer spec. Not sure what the canon on the toe section is, my guess would be that the knocked out part on the toes doesn't need to go all the way up as the heel section. Oh, yes absolutely!! Getting dirty is the fun part I've already adjusted the pouches and sewed some velcro on the suit to hold up the biceps parts.
  18. Ah, right - thx, bro. That's a quick fix ;-)
  19. Thanks, yep that's still on my list. I velcroed the padding of the boots in case I want to adjust it later on.
  20. Hello fellow tree dogers, I've been building a new bikerscout armor aiming at Lancer status from the start. Still waiting on the RS Props helmet to arrive though before I can start the application. Any comments/ feedback is much appreciated! Thanks
  21. Good stuff! I'll be following this
  22. As always it depends on the accuracy you're aiming at and how much you do yourself. I've spent about a third more on my gear but I wanted to have only tailored soft parts and the new CfO RS Props helmet ;-) But as others have stated you can get a pretty decent setup for 1,2k.
