  1. Nice ear holes! I also like that you noticed that the SC lens hole is not quite accurate. I don't see a lot of people mentioning that and it is bothering me too (on mine). I am cutting my ear holes and revisiting the lens cut-out soon. Nice work. Good eye. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  2. Completely agree. Likely in IX. I'm sure we will see FO scouts at some point, anyway. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  3. I got the helmet from Jeff (SC). Looks pretty nice. He places a lot of really nice removable (velcro) padding inside, and does a pretty film-accurate ABS chin cup now! All I have to do is color/cap the bolts at the pivot point (they're just exposed stainless now), paint part of the inside black, and cut out the "ear holes." I may also try to make the lens cut out a bit more accurate, as the way Jeff does it, it is slightly too rounded. Overall, a really nice product for the price. I look forward to having this done. I should be approvable in a matter of a few days now!
  4. Looks VERY accurate, and very good. I love it. Wish I had one.
  5. Is there any way for me to score something like this? How did you acquire?
  6. Any updates to this? This is fascinating!
  7. He gave me the choice. I simply stated that I wanted to go with the most accurate parts possible. Perhaps someday soon I can post some pictures here. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  8. He didn't just decide this on his own to spite me. He discussed this with Gino and Mickey a lot before proceeding. This is apparently more accurate than "bund is part of the cod." Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  9. I love capitalism, but this exposes the "dark side" of it all. lol
  10. It appears to me that the biggest problem with the SC is the shape of the lens opening. If it were cut deeper slightly at the lowest point, and just a tad higher near the brow, then it could look quite a bit better. I am getting a pre-built SC bucket in a few days, and I might shave off just a tad more when I get it. The rest of the bucket looks similar to the others.
  11. I just got that same thing, Forrest Patrol. It is quite nice! I have a question about speakers though... The Dimetech/Aker voice amp has what looks like a 4" speaker inside. It gives surprisingly loud amplification. What I am wondering is this: Can I un-wire this 4" original speaker, and wire in a 1" speaker without any other changes? Will this potentially just get really hot, or blow the tiny 1" speaker? I don't know how this works, and have been thinking of ways to disassemble the aker amp and get a really small speaker wired up and placed directly IN my helmet. Please advise if you have really good experience with audio/speakers. The speaker/amp I have is 20W, and the tiny 1" ones are typically close to 5W. Example of the 1" speakers: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-1-inch-4Ohm-4-5W-Full-range-Audio-Speaker-Loudspeaker-/161450907266?hash=item2597395682 Thanks.
  12. Agreed. If RS had communicated with me in ANY way, I would not be all that upset. It is exactly this complete lack of communication that has driven me to feel the way I do. I am sure the Dickey Beer scout helmet is going to be ridiculously cool. They just need to make sure they are not hiring on ONLY people that like to craft and build props. A business is a LOT more than the product it creates.
  13. Gabe with Max's Sci-Fi Creations created my soft parts. He said my vest/cod being one piece, and bund just being a tube will definitely not hinder my going for Lancer eventually. He said this is, in fact what we *should* be doing with the soft parts. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  14. Well, I freed one of the 100 when I gave up on these fools. At least they gave me a full refund. AFTER I had to file a PayPal claim about their complete inability to communicate about ANYTHING. I am not ever going to order something from them again. You know their website STILL states this: "Release The release date for the helmets will be May the 4th 2015. The date is set realistically and will be achieved. Exclusive images and progress updates will be supplied to all pre-order group members to keep you up to date with the progress of the run and your individual helmet." What the hell? I am sorry, this just infuriates me.
  15. I have to agree. That is a very good-looking scout! Nice work. Very crisp.
  16. Thanks Nexous. Will do. I have been very meticulous in this. I think my approval will be quick and easy, but I am very open to corrective criticism. I can't wait! Only a matter of days now.
  17. It is much more likely that he is looking to find a mic/voice amplifier that he can eventually place in his helmet. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  18. I am also very glad that I went with Jeff's kit. Everything about it has been good. He gives you decals, pin striping, elastic, velcro, cotton webbing, thermal det parts, AND the armor. He sets you up so you barely even have to go to a ctafts store. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  19. **UPDATED** I think I'll be submitting for approval to 501st sometime in the next couple of weeks! Wooooooo!
  20. Max's Sci Fi Creations! I just got my soft parts back from Gabe, and I am pretty impressed. The stuff looks great.
  21. Agreed! Welcome. I have found this group very helpful. I am getting pretty far with my scout build, and these folks have helped a lot in many ways. Try to find someone in your area of Japan that is already a scout, too. Seeing the stuff in person does wonders!
  22. I'd get the SC armor. That is my personal recommendation. Jeff (the SC guy) is wonderful to deal with, and trims things to the extent that you have very little trimming/sanding to do. He even gives all decals and greeblies/plastic details! Very professional and complete. As for the undersuit/coveralls, I would recommend RedCap automotive coveralls in black. There arw a few alterations, but the pockets and such are fairly easy to remove. I hope this helps you out a little. Good luck! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  23. And they're apparently full of lies. This is too little, too late. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  24. They need to communicate. Simple as that. I am pretty sure that not a single one has shipped, so obviously it is more than just "a single one takes 2 or 3 days." They lost me. I will never go to them for anything, and will never recommend them to anyone. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  25. I don't know, but I am not waiting months and months longer when they said theyd have these done 3.5 months ago. That is not OK with me, and quite frankly the community should not be alright with this type of thing either. It's one thing if you come right out and say "this will be done in roughly 6 months" as MonCal has. It is a completely different thing if you say "Will be completed May 4th!" And then September rolls around with crickets chirping. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
