A dremel would make short work of that extra material. Just make sure you don’t go right up to the edges with the tools and use sandpaper or the dremel with a sanding bit to sand back to the edges where it’s needed to look clean.

Started printing the Sean Fields individual strap bits last night. Got 16 sections printed overnight and printed both buckles and the posts to secure the buckles on the chest plate.

Forgot to mention, I just received 20 rolls of filament via ups that I ordered last week. I’m thinking that should give me a pretty good start on my kit ;D

Aaannnnddd I figured out that this 850 kit wasn’t what I wanted to do so I’m switching gears over to printing the Sean Fields V2 kit. 2 Ender 3 printers are gonna take a bit to knock out the main parts. Takes about a full week to do one of the regular sized greeves(printed a set for another Shore) but I’ll have to scale the width and depth up a hair because my calves are 17 and exceed the capacity of the stock size.

Depending on where you’re located if in the US I found Zyltech filament to be a really decent filament for the lower cost. They have a 5kg spool now for about $65

Same weather forecast here. I’m picking up another 3d printer tomorrow though so I should be able to double my productivity.... at least in theory.

@netfrost awesome! I’m building the same kit. I found my pouches off Etsy for pretty decent price. Straight from Yugoslavia even. I figure I’ll build the captain since my local garrison has two SL and a grunt already! I’ve also got a set of 850 armor I’m fixing as I print the whole new kit.

My next project now that the helmet is done is going to be my belt boxes. Have you decided if you’re doing a grunt, SL, or the captain build yet? I know the grunt and captain are identical with the exception of paint additions for the captain. Are you using the V1 files or are you using the V2 files because there’s quite a bit of difference between them as far as the parts go. I know the V2 forearms are two part and printed at angles to optimize the print. Can’t wait to see more of the build!

Good start! My helmet has the final piece on the printer right now. It would have been done this morning after the blast shield finished but I wanted crisp and non warped pieces to work from lol. Bummer on the forearm but at least you now know something your program doesn’t do very well.

Was considering that myself! I’m just concentration on printing the helmet at the moment which with a couple pieces printing again will probably be done the beginning of this next week.

I’ve had his build open in another window on my phone since I started researching and building! I keep popping back over to it as I go since there’s a lot of great stuff he did there. I’m dual building at this point because one of my local Garrison buddies has a Vac former and we plan on doing a group build type thing with the SF 3d printed parts I am doing. I am definitely going to be trying to make this 850 kit go as far as possible! Thanks for the complement! I am also reprinting the back of the helmet and the back lower of SF V2 helmet as my print bed was out of level when it was printed and has a 5mm layer shift from one side to the other which is fixable but I want a great helmet at home right off the bat!

Greetings all, i recently came into a set of second hand 850AW I believe V3 kit that was trimmed by the last person. Some of the trimming turned out to be a bit of a butchery and some oopsies. Right now I am currently about half done printing the helmet and may go back and re-print a piece or two as the original prints were a bit off but not by a noticeable amount(except to me). The 850 kit collar pieces are a complete wash as far as I am concerned and I have already printed a new collar but the back plate collar tabs are wonky. Nothing lines up like it needs to and so am struggling mentally as to what direction to take on it as I could just print the SF files for a new set or try to adapt and use some of the sintra I have on hand from building Mando stuff to repair the damage. It sat in someone’s garage for I don’t know how long. I received it in a big black garbage bag. Ive sanded all of the forearm and bicep cover strips as well as glued those suckers on after sanding the pieces to get footing for the adhesive to grab on to. I like Quick grip contact adhesive. It tends to hold better than my 3d printed parts when I assemble with it. It gets a grip within a few minutes and sets up solid/semi flexible over a 24hr period and I’ve snapped 3d pieces before it gave out. I’ve been double checking the crls and what not about the eye bags also so here’s where I am with that.

Should be perfectly fine then as long as the pieces fit the print area you should be golden!

That’d really depend on the machine to be honest. I’ve owned five different printers over the years and technically if it’s a desktop fdm printer it’s a Prusa clone of some sort unless it’s a delta. How well does his machine put out product or is it new to the both of you?

I’ve got the Creality Ender 3 base model with a SeeMeCNC EZstruder extruder assembly and the quality that comes of of it puts my Robo R1+ To shame and I’ve had to do less fiddling with the Ender than the Robo. Great little machine. Just wish it was the size of its big brother the CR-10s

Been doing the Keto dietsince October 1 2018 I’ve dropped nearly 70lbs and several pants/shirt sizes. Went from only dreaming of getting into one of these kits to having one that I won’t need to whim to put on. Even 3d printed a normal sized persons scout chest and backplate for a buddy that fits me like my SC kit never did(sold it to another member because 285lb me couldn’t dream of fitting). Anyway. Other than Bondo you could use FreeForm air or Apoxie sculpt on those areas as well and get an initial smooth while they’re still mouldable by running wet fingers across the edges and feathering it in. Here in Oregon that’s my go to since the weather is generally nasty enough I can’t do a lot of outdoor work without having a shop, my car shed got smashed by the large amount of snow we had a few weeks back so that’s out too lol

I'm currently printing Sean's files I'll be printing all hard bits. I'm currently working on the helmet and the greeblies for the whole kit. Lots of parts so it's going to take me quite a while.

I've picked up a scout file that hinges like is supposed to.

Started printing the helmet and will be comparing it to my Altmann's as I go. So far the printed one is not as ovular as the Altmann's from the top down. I'll keep this thread updated of the progress, hopefully the print is decent enough to be acceptable for approval.

I'm not sure. I like the helmet file though and the agent Kallus files I got from them are superb.
