  1. That's for the guidance Chex! I'm asking Mrs. Vader for her to let santa know I need a heat gun this Christmas. I've been needing one for years and I don't know why I've been putting it off. What I really need is a bigger garage! I made templates for the dog bone and tubes to scale in Illustrator so Ive already made the adjustment you recommended on the dog bone. Also added about an inch in the tubes and per previous recommendations I actually added two inches on the side to create more space for velcro overlap on the back. Stretching is going good. I'm taking it slow but the fireplace trick worked well and I didn't set my lace on fire. 😃 One thing is that the boots are soft so I've put a plastic soda bottle in to hold the shape of the uppers while I'm stretching the vinyl. I was hoping to do the Lancer mod to the soles. Some have advised me to do the sole mod before I finish the vinyl but I really want to get the main work done before I tackle that. I know it's likely foolish by I'll go slow On the soles and use very sharp tools. Sent from the Death Star
  2. Lol, you'll laugh. I live in San Jose, California. ;-) Sent from the Death Star
  3. This is what I get thorough tapatalk on mobile :-( I've used photobucket for years and just copy the image code. No need to click through and have weird browser issues it renders in line.
  4. So just an fyi but you should really upload your images to photobucket (or similar image hosting) and the copy and paste he img code inline with your post. Uploading like you have the images are too small to see anything.
  5. So since it's winter and I can't leave my boots in a hit car to soften the vinyl, I opted for making a fire and leave my scout boots on the hearth! Sent from the Death Star
  6. Thanks mate! That's super helpful. Sent from the Death Star
  7. What?!?!?!? No one from NorCal!!!!!!!
  8. Thanks Hawk. I think the arch needs some adjustment too. After looking at more reference I think the arch needs to be a touch smaller so both sides finish in line with the gap in the sole and I need to add more to the back as you say for the Velcro overlap. Well, take three it is!
  9. I scaled up my dogbone to 10.5 instead of the standard 10". I think it's working well. Thoughts? Sent from the Death Star
  10. Ok, I didn't wait for feedback (but still really need it) and I went ahead and scaled up the template a bit. I decided to let it go higher since I could take material off the top easily (or hem it more) but also scaled the arch. Better??? Sent from the Death Star
  11. Ok, so o bought some lugs boots as the base after doing my research and I'm ready to get started on the hoot build. Below are my pics. I made my own template based on the boot tutorial with the width at top 18" and at the arch 16.5". I feel the arch width is good but it's a bit tight at the calf. Do you guys agree? Maybe go to 20" At the calf? I wear a size 14 and I'm 6' 3" overall. I also wonder if I shouldn't go a bit taller? Sent from the Death Star
  12. So after some research, I opted to order these boots as the base of my boot build. Anyone have a good lead on where to get the appropriate white vinyl? http://www.ebay.com/itm/291264110096 In other good new my CB flight suit and helmet are on the way do the build should pick up speed next week!
  13. :applause: This is one of the things about the scouts that attracted me to this group. I've been a member of the SLD for a while and it's a very similar feeling over there. We've put our advanced standards program on hold for almost 3 years now and it hasn't stopped us from trying to achieve as close to screen accurate as we can. Lots of the same detailed conversations happen over there. Really looking forward to getting my scout done. I'll say this: I'm grateful for the Lancer program since it provides me with great guidance on how to achieve the best scout I can do, but I don't care a fig about the actual badge. Thanks for being awesome scouts!
  14. Ordered a couple. Nice find!
  15. I would say im going to try for higher accuracy based on this new info. I'll pass on Lancer standards and let it catch up with me at some point. Question: what is the white material you can see behind the belt and under the bund? Is that the cod running up to another girth belt or something like it that's being covered up by the bund? Sent from the Death Star
  16. Here's a couple of pics of the brown box and blaster
  17. Hyperfirm blaster showed up this week. Lewis was very good to work with. Great communication and quick to ship. Bummer is he did all the weathering for me and I love doing that part! Oh well, he did such a nice job I can't be mad. I doubt I could've done any better. Since it showed at the office all my co workers had fun playing "pew-pew" with it. Star Wars props just does something to adults. Kids too I suppose. ;-) Now just waiting on flight suit before I can really get moving. Meanwhile, lord Vader has a couple of appearances to make today.
  18. Firstly, thank you for your service soldier! I'll be following closely too. My build is almost identical to your with the exception that I plan on making my own bund and I went Hyperfirm for the blaster. Other than that we both seem to have he same good taste!
  19. Thanks Bunonos! Sent from the Death Star
  20. I got my SC armor this week! I'm going to start putting together some of the pieces probably next week. Really stoked. It's beautiful work and communication and delivery is outstanding. I don't get why anyone would wait 9 months for other makers when SC is so available. Made some more updates on the list. Ordered flight suit and flak vest from CB. Also ordered a Hyperfirm holdout blaster from Lewis.
  21. Question: I found this CRL which appears to be older but it did have the DLT-19 as an optional weapon. http://www.501st.com...ut/index006.php Why was it removed?
  22. Congrats!!
  23. Nice job!
  24. Wampa gloves showed up. First piece of the build is here.
  25. Decided after more study to go with the SC armor. I'll be using panda troopers build as a guide. Order placed! Now just have to figure out the soft parts. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
