  1. No, the thickness of the foam is closer to 1/8" thick.
  2. You cant really see what it is, but here is the backer. This is the ruff side, the other side feels like felt. Also the foam I use in right behind it.
  3. EFX has been saying next month for about 4 years now.
  4. Same foam as the bund, but also has a stiff backer to help keep the shape. Im not sure what you call it. Its white & very ruff. Almost feels like SUPER sandpaper. The texture help grip the foam until i sew it together. I can post a pic of it later if ya like.
  5. They need to be straight. In pics you get the curve or uneven lines due to peoples body shape. If they are slightly off you mite be able to get away with it.
  6. Hi Scouts, It has been debated here what the original cummerbunds were made out of. With Blu Ray Hi Def screen caps we can see that the original bunds had a sheen to them. I think the material used was Taffeta, it is a nylon ployester blend and in some cases is waterproof. The material is used in wind breakers & shower curtains. It has a "silky" feel to it, has a sheen. Here is a few pics of the material, bund & with all together in costume.
  7. Helmet it self looks great. Only thing i see wrong is the black stripes. They should be lower, starting at the same height as the indents on the right.
  8. Spray paint & extra fine steel wool.
  9. I belive he's asking about the cod only. No need in having extra material inside. The part he's asking about is hidden behind the bund. Plus when sewing velcro you want the least amount of material to sew through.
  10. I make the bund & only use batting in the visible area of the cod.
  11. I use 3/16 chicago screws with a drop of blue Loctite to secure them. Been trooping over 5 years & never had one come undone.
  12. Your gonna have serious camel toe with that cod too.
  13. When i 1st made my scout i secured the belt with a "paracute clip". Ran with that fir a few years. When i made my wife's kit i made hers with velcro. I have since switched mine to velcro. Its ALOT easier to close with the velcro.
  14. I paint all my blasters with 4-5 coats of silver & 2-3 coats of flat/satin black. Then i use an extra fine sandpaper & litely sand the entire blaster, hitting the edges & corners a lil harder than the rest. I get a nice "weathered" look every time.
  15. The jumpsuit sizes are chest measurments NOT waist. Best way to figure out your correct size is try on a dress coat with numeric sizing. For instance i wear a 52 dress coat & 52 jumpsuit.
  16. Looks good, but you need to "build up" grim in the nooks & crannies. In real life dirt & grim would stick in all the recessed areas.
  17. What is that pull tab on the top?
  18. I buy large pieces of suede from Ebay. You want it 2.5 or thinner. Any thicker & you will break needles trying to sew it on.
  19. Since you didn't post any pics im asuming your cod is all cloth. You will need to remake the cod with foam & stiff backer inside. It should end just before going between your legs. Also it should be made to fit your body frame. This will solve your problem.
  20. If you can not find boots with the correct color of sole. You can paint them with any arts & craft ACRYLIC paint. I bought mine at Walmart for .50 Rub the sole down with Acetone (nail polish remover will work) Mix your paint with water prob 80/20 paint/water & brush on lite coats. 3-4 should be enough. Make sure the paint is acrylic, acrylic paint flexes when dry.
  21. NO! You dont want to rivit them to the armor. That will ruin your chances of being approved in any classification. Perhaps you need more velcro. I make the soft parts & i make my pouches with velcro to attatch to the underside of the chest armor. I use 2"x7" belive me that is more than enough to hold a pouch with an Aker Amp.
  22. Look for a pair of Sith Armor. They were the original scout gloves here & have a wider cuff that can accomidate your beace. I know because i have SA gloves & they fit fine over the brace i wore when i broke my hand. They come up for sale here often witj everyone going to WW gloves.
  23. Looks like your missing the "dog bone" on your boots. Take a quarter & trace the curve on each of the shoulder bell corners. Looks like you have an SC kit. The SC bells have a very sharp angle corners. Your TD is not upside down, you have the greeblies on the wrong side. You need to carfully pop them off & reverse them.
