installing the tank on my backplate tomorrow but whats the 2 vertical stripes for on backplate? just a guideline or are they on outside of tank so you can see the ripple next to where tank goes, what kind of bondo are you guys using to cover over seams? the kind i got doesnt adhere well to ABS plastic, took a knife and caught an edge and the whole block of hardened bondo just peeled off
-
to remove the paint on the parts you can try soaking them in a bath of simplegreen over night, if the resin is remotely similar to GW models it shouldn't hurt the pieces at all. those look like air bubbles in the mold. after stripping you can always sand down the bad areas and use either a small amount of bondo just to smooth over or "green stuff" its a modeling trick people use to fill in little imperfections. should work the same. (but im no expert when it comes to w/e that was cast in" links below to what green stuff is http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1380024a&_requestid=196374 http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/13/6/epxy_putty/overview/Loctite-Repair-Putty-Multi-Purpose.htm

as well as not as "accurate" on the US camo the material it is made out of. im on the notion that it wont take dye very well, its not a clothy material its coated in some kinda scotch guard if u will. heck not even red clay dirt of Hawaii will stain them to much degree. -
Just bonded my first upper arm piece together then smothered in bon do. Now to sand and hope it looks clean
-
ya, im seeing that, ill look in the hobby lobby for the abs plastic thx
-
note to self and anyone else out there reading. guerilla glue sucks for bonding pieces together........ guess I need to find some real E6000 After further thought. I think the for sale sign I'm uusing as backing to join 2 pieces together is to thin/ flimsy Any ideas?

It wouldn't hurt to rough sand, but with spray paint these days you don't need to. I would sand all the seems flat and all the copyright and branding off

The DPM issue isn't that bad off yet, yes as US goes trying to figure out the cm to in. Was a pain. The fitted DMP is a lot different than the US maternity gowns that only come in 4 sizes. The real issue I've seen is if you were of a husky build in the US finding DMP the right size. We can always look into the Romanian army desert dress. I got a few in my basement. I'm not 100% sure what all the hub ub is about all of this, regardless I'm going to continue forward with my build and hope it's right. Didn't know there are 2 different kashyyyk trooper models ( was my original plan anyways, this crud is hard ) -
Will do, I don't think in any film there is a DC with stock but in the description of the DC all over web like wookiepedia and such they refer to it sometimes having that folding stock
-
I got a Mr. Woodchuck DC-15S because the unreleased CRL said it was required either L or S. But im wondering if I can attach a stock to my S and if you guys would accept that in trooping. That pic above is of a 1:28 scale Hasbro toy or something I think. My question is can I add add that wire folding stock to my DC-15S. As far as I can see /read no one has done it
-
still looking around for an answer for this, on the description of the DC-15S they have it listed with a stock variant. what would it look like and will it fly for CRL for kashyyyk trooper. would it be the stock off of a DC-15L or would it be a wire folding stock like iv seen on a commander cody action figure?
-
blah crappy quality but ya, I know im missing the buckle or w/e that goes on top, gotta add that in.

PICTURE EXPLOSION! but ya, trying to work it with that,
-
ill post a pic after work, there is plenty of material for me to form and get even enough to make it work, just maybe not look 100% like what i want too. ill have to point out the bulb down no the shin where the toe armor is suposed to meet up with it. hard to explain. just going to need a lot of bondo and sanding to make it look even, and not ripply. im using wraps of blue painters tape to hold 1/2's together so i can can get a feel for what im getting after.

"For some reason, the straps on the shins can be khaki OR white.... but the boots can not???? how does that work then?" I have no dog in this fight. im an up and comer, so i have zero say on CRL. i took the tan/white shin armor as choose either, based on what your end goal of armor was. do you want a trooper that has been on world for a few months and got shin deep into the much or do you want a more or less "garrison" kashyyyk trooper that keeps things mostly tidy and clean, ergo the tan or white. white would be super obvious and stand out like a sore thumb if its caked in mud. tan, less so. seeing as ya it may have been white but after mucking around washing what he could off when he could it got stained tan instead of white. again. i dont know wtf im talking about, im not a cleared trooper or GML. just what i took it to mean on the shin parts. -
ok, ill do that tonight, im just trying to think of how to put it together so they arnt so far apart the gap from shin armor and my leg is massive(because i gota fit a foot through) and how to bet a boot on afterwards

what iv been reading to get a more white look on ur boots is take like baby power and really rub it into the suede, ill see if i can find the link or instructions again, that way they will be "white" with weathering, and if it changes u can scrub them out to be tan again -
since the boot shin armor needs to be "seemless" or w/e is stated in CRL. how does that work? after mocking up my shin armor I can barely squeeze my foot into it without a boot. so I hope im missing something.
-
now im at the spot in the build where I gota figure out how to get things to stick together, trying to get the leg armor and toe caps to work right but bikers shin guards are a bit different then what iv seen in other kashyyyk troopers. a bulbous end on the shin armor where the toe caps "connect" instead of a slope like iv seen, not saying its wrong just trying to work with it and figure out how to get it to fit. how do u work with the shin armor. once on your person. I got an idea how to make them seemless iv seen WIPs on that, but how do u put it on/off and tie boots and what not underneath then trooper?

Attaching tank to backplate
chilledmilk replied to chilledmilk's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
specifically the kashyyk tank but since some scouts would have had to do the same on their bikers. i assume the process is the same, and there are more bikers out there then kashyyyks. so hence why i started here., thx for the info -
Attaching tank to backplate
chilledmilk replied to chilledmilk's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
hmm, then you bondo around gaps and smooth out? ill look into that, kit came with some bent right angle plastic, might be whats that for. -
do we paint inside of helmet? in the Kashyyyk trooper helmet with the ears actually cut out you would need to paint inside black to help the effect and to keep the inside of helmet from blinding you? do you paint the inside? if so with what? how do you keep the fumes of spray paint from getting to you? or is that an added bonus that we here at BSN don't talk about?
-
so I know I'm not a "biker scout" but the process should be the same for attaching the tank on the kashyyyk trooper as the biker, any suggestions? im guessing cutting hole in backplate then sliding tank in till snug and what bondo and E-6000 the bajesus out of it? what do you guys suggest
-
I have everything rough trimmed minus the shin armor and chest pieces. anyone know how to fit the tank on the back armor? im guessing cutting a hole in back armor then sliding tank in it, but then how do u fit the tank onto the back armor to make it stay put?
