  1. That's what I used to put together the entire armor! Plastic did not melt. If you get it, you can get the "kicker" as well. The kicker will cause the ZAP a Gap to cure within 10 seconds. No long wait time of e6000 but also no room for error. Once it is stuck on there, it is easier to throw the piece away and start fresh than to try to pull it off again. I put together a TD with it, and actually just cut away and shimmed an area I messed up on. The glue is actually a CA glue, basically super glue. You can find it at hobby stores and even my local comic book store. Trooperbay.com also sells it with a can of the kicker. Like I said, 10 second cure time. I got all of the armor put together on a TD within a day since no waiting around for the e6000 to dry. I will try it tonight and let you know how it goes. Do you have a reference picture of where the greebs go on the bicep? It seems to be different depending on who was building.
  2. I'm going to have to order the webbing, since my Joann fabrics only has 1 inch wide and not the one and a quarter. I can find some online for pretty cheap. The gray fabric is actually a curtain material, but not too heavy duty. It was as dark grey as I could find. I found tons of the grey suit like material, but it blended in with the webbing too much. Tried the buckles and worked fantastic!
  3. Thoughts on cummerbund colors/fabric Drew, what about adding Velcro to the back side of the cummerbund and Velcro to the lip and velcroing that way?
  4. Yep, much better idea than I had with Velcro. I like the idea of the lip. issue though is how does it look when you wrap it around your body? Does it warp the belt or pull at the snaps/possibly tearing? Also, how would you suggest attaching to the cummerbund? Would the stitching show if you sewed to the bottom?
  5. As for the bicep band, where exactly do the greebs go on? I've seen on the long part and then on the side. I notched mine so at least the greeb will sit flat and hold the greeb on. Just have to figure out how to secure the strap parts and the huge square.
  6. Yep, that's the Velcro I am going to use as well. I tried painting mine first, and then sticking it on there, but it just ripped the paint off, so that was a failure.
  7. For it to sit in the belt, but actually attach behind to the Velcro of the cummerbund.
  8. Thanks for the tips guys. I feel like I'm giving birth and you two are the Lamaze coaches. As for the mustang, if I could only give it up! Bought before children and now no room! I am going to try snaps on the knee and forearm straps. Thinking of adding backing and then a washer before I pop rivet the snaps on. Hopefully it will secure it without ripping the rubber. Yeah Matt, the helmet doesn't have the black discs on the screws yet. I need to find something, most likely a bar stool foot cover than I can hollow out. Surprising, but there is less room in the bucket for a fan than anticipated. One idea I had with the belt, Is to do snaps on a cloth webbing that is backed with Velcro. That wa it is not snapped right to the cummerbund and less if a chance of drooping at all. I think if you add the snaps in the black areas, you can paint over with a sharpe marker to hide it. Just have to be careful to place your snaps in the place the belt would bend to. Other wise, when you snap it, and the wrap around your body, the belt may warp. I think it would be best to just add the snaps when you have the belt bent already. My concern is going to be how to attach the buckle portion. Thinking of making a bracket f
  9. Amazing Goop was an amazing fail. Going to try the snaps but afraid they will rip the rubber over time.
  10. Got some work done since my last update. Got some painting and helmet work done. Check it out and see what you guys. As you can see, the helmet padding I was talking about earlier, the dye job on the soft armor, and I'm trying some goop to hold the knee greeb. Also, I left the opening in the back plate. Most likely, I will never use that space, but considering hooking up a speaker in that spot. I guess I could put a camel back in there too if it gets really hot, but worried it would cause too much weight in the back. Let me know what you guys think of the paint and weathering. Just flip through the album. http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u415/bselphfsu282/Kashyyyk/image-11.jpg
  11. I tried out a helmet pad kit, problem is the pads are not quite large enough for my head to be snug. Where did you get the liner? It's coming along well man, just paint. I still have some tweaks to do, but mainly the greebs
  12. May have a lead on the decals for under the eyes. Try banzai88 in the 501st main page if interested. I shot him a pm to see pricing.
  13. You too, huh? The Grumpy fairy also paid me a visit. Top notch and no way would I have been able to make the pouches since I can't even accomplish the pockets on the pants.
  14. Yeah, most likely I've cut a few years off my life from the funes already! The paint goes fast though, it's the soft parts that are tripping me up!
  15. Yeah the base. The ones that came with the kit are rather large. You come across this as well?
  16. Perfect! Looks like I have to cut the base down a bit
  17. How tall should those little vent tips be and where should the stickers on the back go?
  18. Agreed, you might want to shape the top, but they look fantastic! I've gone too far now to turn back and do that, but wish I did to begin with!
  19. So, where did y'all get the decal for the lines under the eyes? Mine did not seem to come with any.
  20. The paint I'm using has been coming out flat, but I'm going to use the flat clear anyway for another layer of protection. Would hate to drop something and then have the paint scrapped off
  21. Is the amount appropriate or should I go heavier?
  22. Nah, spray paint with cut out stencile. Hold and spray approach. So soften up the edges? Here I thought the idea was to have it more defined! This should make the rest easier! I do kind of like the hard lined look though. Approvable? It does look pitted in the middle... Damaged I would say.
  23. Ha! The tan camo suggestion. Has worked great! What do you guys think of the color and amount if camo on the shoulders? http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u415/bselphfsu282/image-8.jpg
