Armor Comparision 2012
Pandatrooper replied to Kaltblutfreak's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
The entire Legion tries to avoid Starfortress for a variety of reasons. Please stay away from them. -
Any updates on this subject or new screens? I'm planning to sew my Lancer spec cummerbund this week and I'd like to get it done right the first time. Thanks!

I had a pair of mediums and smalls (I have small hands too!) and they aren't that different to be honest. Not sure if I mistakenly got 2 pairs of mediums from them, but the smalls weren't that much smaller.

Helmet looks good. My only minor feedback is maybe the black on the snout is painted too big? On the screen used helmet, the snout edge is still white. See pics here. http://starwarshelme...iker_Scouts.htm

Really nice work there! Looks spot on!

Well, he's making inaccurate R2 units now too, so it looks like he needs to branch out. I'm sure George will love to find out about his new ventures.

SC Scout Helmet Prototype 2012 - feedback?
Pandatrooper replied to StudioCreations's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Looking good so far! I agree with the softness feedback, but is this maybe because the plastic used is thicker? Would going with a thinner plastic stock help? Also, is the inner lip where the strap goes wide enough to accommodate the strap threading through it? And please tell us you will be including a chin cup with the kit! That would be awesome! -

So just to clarify, The way it stands, there is no more Pathfinder, only 501st and Lancer, correct? I think the changes are for the better, but I for one would have appreciated a heads up that this was coming (eg: "Hey scouts, in 2 months we are going to update the CRL, and you need the following costume updates if you are applying" kind of thing). For people part of the way there or a limited budget, it's going to throw them off track. I am one of them. I pretty much finished tailoring my suit a while ago, and now I have to rip out the seams and re-do it to add the suede which I wasn't intending on doing. I know one young trooper locally who was given a costume budget as a gift, and some of these changes might be harder for him. To clarify, this change is a bit different from the FISD or MEPD approach. There are several different levels of Stormtroopers (some easier / more cost effective all the way to screen accurate). For a typical ANH stunt, there's 501st standard, EIB (Expert Infantry) and Centurion (uber screen accurate). Similar with MEPD, there's a 501st sandtrooper, MEPD Deplyed and MEPD SWAT (replication of an actual character in ANH). At least with 3 varieties, it gives people different cost and availability options. This is an example of the guides I created to break down the individual troopers by pauldron color, which makes it much easier to replicate. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showforum=3 I agree with you in that the lowest standard for a biker scout should be improved, I guess it was more the way it's been communicated. Some people like to include in the discussion and prepare people for the change. If I can make a suggestion, I would suggest updating the Biker Scout CRL with color coded sections like the FISD does for their CRL. This makes it easier for people to understand the differences between 501st and Lancer. http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt I would also suggest at least a section on the forum dedicated to the changes required, with links to threads or images. The thing is, even if we don't know "exactly" what something looks like underneath, at least offer an example of something for us to follow as a "best guess", until new discoveries are made. Marcel, I appreciate your work and efforts in making this happen for the benefit of the detachment and its members. I hope you take this feedback constructively and not in a negative way, that's not how it's intended. If you need assistance, I am more than happy to help with visuals if you need them. Terry

Also, if a scout now requires the suede butt patch and inner thighs, could we please get a proper photo and diagrams / dimensions for this? The CRL just shows a photo of the flight suit. To date I havent seen a good consistent way of doing this and once stuff is sewn its hard to fix if you cut too much etc. thanks.
-
I just wanted to ask in case I missed something. But on Fisd changes to the CRL are voted on within the detachment before they are approved. So is there a point to Lancer at all now? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for accuracy but it would be nice to have a chance to provide feedback.

I recently purchased this vest from Ladysewforus that was based on information on this forum. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9035&hl=&fromsearch=1 The sleeves were changed on her patterns to be a raglan style. Does that mean this isn't acceptable because the sleeve goes uner the shoulder strap armor and to the neck? Most of the time you won't even see the top of the raglan sleeve as its covered by the shoulder strap armor.
-
Thanks for the heads up. Will the CRL visual guides be updated to reflect this?
-
I thought the most accurate one was the raglan sleeve version (lower middle in the drawing above)? In some of the pics, you can see the ribbing go under the shoulder straps, but I haven't seen a definitive photo showing the ribbing going all the way to the collar as it's hidden most of the time. This link shows the ribbing and raglan sleeve, but it's not definitive if it goes to the collar. http://www.bikerscout.net/forum/uploads/1144978010/gallery_1_3_259886.jpg I had mine made that way and that's the way Ladysewforus made her new ones, based on feedback from here (unless I'm missing something?)
